Atleast while you are leveling , dont take talents that makes you use one or another weapon type , also use the best weapons you can get and by the time you are lvl 12th you will know what you want spear or rapier , because for now you might aswell just end up using A rapier in 1 hand and spear in other
  2. I've found Paladins dull as dishwater for my tastes in just about every game ever and haven't seen anything to change my mind in PoE. This isn't to say they aren't effective. Just not my style. Rangers - maybe a melee one someday. Bow type combat always felt OP'd to me in BG1, but I think there could have been a better solution for that over what PoE did. I lost a lot of interest in ranged weapon combat when there was no ammo whatsoever to manage. It feels Diablo-ish. (edit) I give them to my backline for when they're not casting spells, which works well, but don't pay them much mind otherwise. I am sorry ... but WHAT EXACTLY this has to do with there being only 1 vote for both of these classes ? Sry lady but you dont seem to actually read ... So Paladins are dull w/e its somebody's opinion Rangers might not be the best Ranged Marksman atm , BUT Why the f.... they are in 1 category to vote for your PC character? Afaik I cant Have PaladinRanger or RangerPaladin ...
  3. What tanks you got ? What Talents , weapons they use ? I assume both of your tanks has Hold The Line ? Both with +Guarding weapons ? because if not then nothing to be surprised about
  4. there should be more high level shields with bashing cant expect this shield to hold you for whole game when you get it at lvl 2-3

Hard is not hard forget it , remove it from this topic , Hard = Easy+2 enemies , Hard = Normal+1 Enemy , Hard Normal or Easy will be easy for any1 that uses 6 chars in a party . especially when difference between Easy normal and hard is so minimal On Topic : PoTD Difficulty : Esternwood (No big groups , weak enemies , Fine Arbalest on a dead Body , doable as early as you want ) Dyrford Crossing Ogre's Cave ( Dyrford is decently hard if you go there early but this cave is not hard , you can talk with ogre to avoid the fight , you can pull all the spiders in whole cave into 1 area and AoE them down , leaving only spider boss lurking alone in the fog of war, and you can 1hit her with blunderbuss+envenomed strike :D ) Madhmr Bridge ( No big groups of enemies , some loot some exp nothing going on here tbh , unless you are a "solo" whore then i hope u get stunlocked by that Xaurip Champion who you cant avoid when entering the map ) Also : Saying that Caed Nua is easy ... i dunno should try PoTD before talking such things , esp at the time you can get there if you dont gather all the exp possible before it , its not easy .

Slow/Fast atacks has nothing , and i mean NOTHING at all to do with Holding Aggro in this game you Hold Aggro by engagement and its normaly 1 enemy you can engage , there is talent for 1 more , fighter talent for 2 more , and you can get weapon wwith guarding +1 more enemy engaged but nothing else matters in terms of holding agro , also if your melee tryes to flank the enemy most likely enemy will break from your tanks engagement and turn to your melee because ENEMY wants to kill your team not your tank in particular , having this shield wont make your tank worse at holding aggro ...

  8. so what you are saying is that you are content with paladins as tanks because you only use them as meatshields. That's fine for you i guess its a SP game play as you want; but by that reasoning is there really much point giving them a weapon at all? Why bother with a paladin at all, why not send a sword and shield barbarian in? Im quite in the middle of this debate generally as I think paladins are decent support tanks but have a terrible DPS but this is probably the worst defense of a class I've seen. Fighters barely take any microing in the first place for one thing but evaluating how good different classes are based on what happens when you just click attack and leave them at it is a terrible way to talk about the class' potential. I mean to take it to an extreme that's like saying that priests are a bad class if you just give them a want and get them auto attacking...... Also as for into the fray not working for you im not sure whats going wrong there, ive never had a problem with it. Why would you want barbarian with a shield in the first place? Thats a Fighter for you , and as already discussed thousand times Fighters and Paladins both are good tanks with different purpose , i mean fighter is totaly useless after he engages 4 enemies , while paladin can still heal / buff / revive

  10. No you can only enchant what you see in enchanting menu , all the rare named enchants has to be found on weapons and armor
  11. Make sure to strip them naked tho , every companion full naked so you can sell or use their items early , Eder has badass armor with 2nd chance , aloth has nice armor for a wizard/druid/priest , Kana can give you Arquebus realy early

Bear does not die on POTD this is a fake info going on forums since release , i am playing with a bear pet right now and he can tank 1 add for days and he can tank 2 if you concentrate on killing those , ofc bear wont be able to tank Ogres , Forest Lurkers and other bigg stuff but biggest challenge on POTD is geting attacked by 10-20 enemies at once and bear can help you hold the front line really well
  13. Go to temple with 6 people after you finished everything availale before Caed Nua ( No point to fight harder shades in caed nua before doing easier temple of eothas ) and you will see that its kinda easy

Nice guide but very inaccurate at some points especially in later part of the guide , some real stupid sentences atleast add some explanation to them : that XXX is Useless for a Warrior Tank dont speak in general . Edit : seems op has very narrow understanding whats good and whats bad and just calls most of things useless . Warrior Tanks are useless no utility after they engage few enemies . beat this
  15. One of the problems with Defense and Utility talents are that if you want them you have to skip some of your class talents and on most of the classes thats not a good choice
  16. Moon Godlike does indeed feel very Paladin'ish my usual choice , also one of female head versions has okay~ look for a GodLike

Individual Stealth absence is a flaw in game design not in rogue class , tbh a Watcher Rogue was the most fun character i played in this game might been because he was ranged glasscanon but also was OP duelist due to rogue and watcher abilities , i won many fights with only that char remaining Edit : Shadowing Beyond 2 per encounter would be very nice but because of the "solo mode" it will never happen

Okay .. so Ranger and Paladin has been with me since first playtrough in every team i made on every difficulty , is something wrong with me or all this class balance discussion is based on air ? its not about 1 character its about your team composition more than anything in this game i couldnt ever take a fighter over paladin in my teams , just because i run them ranged and marksman heavy and paladin just does better job in that team , i dont really understand the need of THE BEST TANK FIGHTER , when my paladin and chanter does the tanking job without any problems and gives ton of utility to the team ? Yes if i made a team with 1 tank or with 4 melee i probably would pick fighter , but thats not because paladin or xxxx is bad tank but because fighter makes that composition better ... it feels like people are comparing only Class X with Class Y but you can have 6 classes in your party , also the game seems to be soloable on hardest of the difficulties so its not a matter of class balance is bad because i cant get trough the game if i use class Y , so where is the problem ? Why Strategy and Character builds forum is littered with class balance stuff and thats the only thing people want to talk about seriously ...

Only thing you exploit with that build is yourself , because as much as i love my bear/cat w/e they are not that reliable to get 2 talent points , and Wounding Shot is a waste of skill point imo too , i completed the game with ranger as pc twice and as random companion once more. And with every playtrough i took less ranger class talents until i settle with 0 ! , ranger talents just bad in general , tho some of his skills like Vicious Aim and Swift Aim , Marked Pray , Stalkers Link ( Great Skill ! ) are very nice to have for any1 using ranged weapons especially vicious aim + quick switch is kinda hacking

When playing on hard and above there are no real secure ways to get BW talent to work ( after paladin downs an enemy .... yeh right this like never happens ! ) also i got a plan in mind to test DPS Paladin build on PotD which would concentrate on last hiting stuff so it can trigger those after paladin downs an enemy effects , would use some talents that lets you switch to guns fast and last hit something got this idea when i noticed Pallegina starting with a pistol , might be thats how you supposed to down an enemy with paladin because other ways dont really work effectively
  21. Ranger has no use for attributes after going 21 Might and 18 Dexterity , thats why i put all of it into perception for those mystical interrupts after maxing the first two

Paladins are a bit complicated to play , to begin with get Dexterity down to 3 or 4 depends what race you can get also if you go for a dwarf you can have 2 dexterity thats amazing because dexterity does nothing for paladin , there is no discussion here stat gives you nothing , so skip it . Put those Points into Perception and Resolve having 16 is kinda mediocore because you neither get all the dialogue options neither have a proper maxed stat just not good, max those 2 ( Per and Res ) , Divide rest of your points between might con and intelect i suggest having exactly 10 con as you do now its perfect number tbh , also dont go Bleak Walker you wont like being cruel everywhere , just go Darcozzi Paladini best one imo nice skills and you can be Passionate , Clever AND Agressive ( Passionate and Clever are main which increases his strength but Darcozzi Paladin gets no penalty for being Agressive ) so basicly Passionate Clever and Agressive will make you a bad ass Roleplayable pally who can turn from Passionate into Agressive really fast , who takes no orders from any1 , and who wont be fooled by random ogre or looter . Also if you Decide to Max Perception Int And Resolve all the way to 18 you will be able to choose more than half of dialogue choices that are just a great improvement from playing some1 with max might and dexterity ...

Dont know if any1 is updating , but Measured Restraint ( Best Early Tanking Weapon without exceptions +Guarding !) is at the end of Endless Paths level 2 in a secret stash in the room with a Pit and Xaurip Priest , this rapier and shatterstar from defiance bay trader will set your tanks up for long time
  24. It seems that alot of Skills , Talents and Effects in game are just there in writing and pictures but not really implemented into game mechanics ... thats.. i dunno strange?

Petrify and No Cheese cant be in one topic not on these forums about this game , also to say it seems that you atleast tried not to cheese this but for future no cheese attempts : Petrify is Like biggest piece of cheese you ever ate
