  1. I would definitely put fire god up one, its almost as good as moon depending on the situation (eg a fire paladin will basically take because of the stacking DR) similarly death god like is good for burst dps to finish off the enemy even faster, other than that i agree, tbh aside from the god and pro tiers i dont pay much attention to racials and jsut chose to fit my rp experience
  2. true, i guess im stuck in the mindset of a soloer still with a high base endurance con is more effective on a monk than a cipher
  3. It is when you are ref ing rely on torment for damage does dexterity matter anymoren torment for damage does dexterity matter anymore?
  4. Well, first off, if you want to be tankish, you have to take tankish stats - preception and resolve. And yes, inteligence is least usefull talent on monk But, from what I understood high Per and Res increases deflection, and you, as a monk, want to get hit. So, its not better have high Con and be a meat shield? correct you want max constitution as your no. 1 priority, however especially on harder difficulty you need to slow down the rate you gain wound in order to spend them as a decent rate and to survive long enough to cast all of your wounds to take an extereme example imagine a 100 endurance monk, you could either get hit for 10 10 times and get 10 wounds to spend gradually or you could get hit for 50 twice and barely have time to spend your wounds before you die, thats why as monk stands they are much better when played tanky, you will also notice that most of your damage comes from wound based attacks so dexterity is actually less important than the game implies
  5. do you think decterity is needed at all if im relying on my wound fueled abilities to do dps?
  6. it really does seem quite weak using a build that relies on swift strikes and the +shock and +fire damage as opposed to a build that gets its dps from torments reach, plus a build that relies on toments reach is limited by wounds so you can tank your dexterity quite safely, i mean i guess if i have loads of wounds then it will be slower to unload them but then it might be a better idea to take a different skill over lesser wounds, most fights im spamming toments reach anyway
  7. Well, game is not ment to be played solo, so you are gimping yourself on your own decision - not a problem of a game There is an achievement for solo and besides which at some point the game becomes easy even on PoTD if you are running a full party that is half decently put together, aside from one or two fights in the entire game Ive never been at risk from a wipe playing with a full party
  8. So even if it is working it wont show up as shock in my log? Because in about 10 pages worth of autoattacks i dont see the word shock once, its good to know that it does work and i didnt waste a point on it, its confusing coz my attacks are all labelled as crush damage so its very missleading if 12 crush damage actually equals 10 crush and 2 shock damage. Furthermore do you know exactly how wounds work, i know you get one every 10/8 damage you take but the desciption implies they mitigate some damage, does this mean that instead of taking the full dmg you take 8 dmg and one wound or 6 dmg and one wound? if so it would give lesser wounds the hidden effect of 5% damage reduction
  9. do you know if the 10% shock damage on lighting strikes is bugged? Ive now tried it with two seperate save games and nowhere in the combat log does it say im doing any shock damage at all
  10. It does not disapear, im trying it level 3 solo on PoTD, with a full party i think it would easily be possible at level 3 or even 2
  11. Barbs are simple enough, stack constitution and might the rest is really up to you, you can min max them but they play well just followng the default settings. Im currently in love with the monk class, heavy armour to survive and you would be surprised how they hit
  12. Hi all, so ive been messing with the monk class for a bit now and jsut tried a hit heavy build but im curious is swift strikes lighting damage working? It says it is on the tooltip but reading the combat log I don't see shock damage listed anywhere. Is the shock damage hidden? or is it just not working?
  13. f*** me well done mate i thought it was impossible as cipher, do you think it would be possible inhard mode?
  14. But I dont have access to life leach levels until i kill that massive spider or clear that room int he temple, both of which are insanely difficult fights, i mean i agree once i have lifesteal it would only make sense :/
  15. No, even with stealth there are just some enounters you cant avoid and the problem with solo is that you only have to run out of endurance, not ho and you are dead. Problem is there are just some mobs who can one/two shot ciphers and rogues, that you can't avoid, and who have high enough health that you wont be able to kill them before they hit you at least once. I think the key to a solo PoTD run is survivability and a lot of min maxing, even then a lot of fights are really close calls. in some of the fights you cant avoid even my moonlike tanky as hell monk gets hit for most of his HP and it isnt really possible to avoid getting hit at least once. Maybe if you always open with mind control and if it doesnt work save scum it would be possible but if it doesnt work the problem is that you will get one/two shotted. I mean my monk does something like 35 damage per turn of combat and it takes him at least two rounds to take down even the weaker mobs, and something like 4 rounds of combat to take down the stronger ones, can you really avoid being hit for two rounds of combat, let alone in fights where there are many enemies
  16. thank you so much, one build ive played with is an interupt heavy monk and this really helps me make my choices
  17. DO you mean hard or PoTD, in PoTD im having a lot of trouble so Id apprecate as much info on your build as possible.also are you sure fire godlike is the best choice? The dmg reduction and retaliate on hit seems far less useful than 3 heals that heal for about 1.25 of your total endurance, that bacically double endurance every encounter
  18. fair enough have you played around with monks at all, would you recommend unarmed or shield and weapon. The thing is ive compared the two side by side and my fists hit harder than any normal quality weapons of the same speed so to keep up that DPS or improve it i would need a fine or higher quality weapon, im also not entirely sure shield synergises with the monk play style as all it does is slow down the rate you get wounds, makes you less accurate, and almost cuts your DPS in half as you offhand fist does about 3.4 the damage of your main.I mean purely from a numbers perspective i think playing monk is all about maximising how much you get out of each wound, the reason you want heavy armor is that it slows down wound gain enough to unload each wound reliably. but using a shield almost halves the damage you get from both swift strikes and the cone attack. Im also thinking I might try swift blows follwed up by cruxible of fire (5% fire dmg per wound) in hard fights where you often have 5 wounds that you struggle to unload in time this could make all the difference (especially against phantoms who hate fire). Im also thinking that i might out a point in unarmed combat specialisation, 6 accuracy will surely help guarantee a steady dps right?
  19. I wanna throw my monk into the mix, heavy armor but using torments reach each fist hits for 20 and 15 respectively which i would argue is easily on par with a barbarian, if he is getting hit relatively hard he can cast torments reach every turn of combat and given his tankyness he can also survive this damage well. If i made him less tanky and put a few more points in intel torments would easily hit more enemies behind the target but as is it rarely hits anyone aside from the main target unless its lined up perfectly. However I needed the tankyness coz he is soloing PoTD
  20. wow the club sells everything lol Im curious if anyone remembers what loots drops from what NPCs? i remember getting some awesome loot from some backer NPCs but ive forgotten which ones
  21. Im not entirely convinced about the cloak in terms of its usefulness but im prepared to be convinced, + 2 in a stat sounds more useful to me, its only 20% of damage though ive now experienced being stun locked and i can see where you are coming from. My thinking though is that 20% frost is only useful in half or less than half the fights you go into and even then its not like having it guarantees you win, however I have only come across one 2+ item in the game so far so having acess to one so early on sounds OP. Does your will have a significant effect on stunlocking? Id be willing to sacrifice some dps if it gives me the chance to avoid the stunlock of death
  22. I think they have an average-high inturupt value, my monk interupts pretty frequently, more frequently it seems when he is unarmed but we really need more info on unarmed combat
  23. Running a 5 man chanter 1 priest is epic, if cheesy, the pure number of summons guarantees you win any fight you survive the first 12 seconds of
  24. What you are seeing is the stupidly high deflection rating on shades, im afraid you need to either punch through with a higher dps or you need to try types of damage that dont target deflection, anything wtih raw damage is great. Itwould also help you to pick up durance from the fork, his radiance spell should burn them as i think they cound as 'vessels' also there is a cloak in the second floor of the inn that should help you tank the dmg, it converts 20% frost dmg back to endurance. Im also having trouble with them in my solo monk PoTD run and all i can really say is keep trying, im really out of things I can d to take them on, atm I can take maybe one at a time which is kind of **** when there are larger groups, im havign to rely on split pulling which is a bit cheesy
