  1. That singing sequence was my favourite thing in my attempt to play SR3. Might be somewhat of a case of damning with faint praise given I gave up not long after the first act, but still, it was a nice moment amongst all the psychopathy. Heck, it was better than the silly dates in Sleeping Dogs in terms of a character moment.
  2. An alternative that's working for me is to just search for the games individually then add them to the cart manually. Tested using the search box in the top right corner. The system is smart enough to recognise when you manually assemble a bundle and apply the correct additional discount. This also appears to be the only way to buy multiple bundles in one transaction, if I try to use the banners on the front page, adding a bundle places that bundle and that bundle only in the cart. For what it's worth, I'm torn on whether to pick up the Daedalic bundle. I only already have Deponia 1 and wouldn't mind picking up the sequel, but none of the other titles in the bundle are really catching my eye. Aside from that decision my buys will probably just be non-bundled singletons, so no rush to do so if I don't go for any bundles today.
  3. If I click on the "buy now" button, it adds all 5 to my cart then tells me I can only gift the purchase since I own some of the games in the bundle. If I click on any other part of the banner, it links here where I can select the games to purchase.
  4. Tried it and it's working fine for me, both the button from the main page and from looking at the sub-page. Pleased to see everything on best sale at the same time, wasn't looking forward to having to check daily deals every day.
  5. I find that hard to believe, in fact I would say thats highly unlikely. Bioware isn't going anywhere. They still have several million committed fans, like me , who believe in there products and enjoy the gaming experience they provide. These fans provide Bioware with a healthy revenue stream, so why would EA try to effect this in anyway? Origin had several million committed fans too... Note I'm not saying that I believe they'll suffer the same fate in the short-to-medium term, just that the quantity of fans probably aren't the metric the suits use to determine when to put the kybosh on a studio.
  6. I found the DA2 design document.
  7. To be fair, you can also start as a male commander and have an all male troop at the onset, so it's hardly a problem for those who want to stick to history. Sure, you have to turn down a few recruits over the course of the game, but there's enough NPCs regardless. Also my favourite KS game thus far, but it's the only one, so yeah.
  8. Glad to see they've fixed that, for a couple days now it wasn't marking any games as owned, making it really hard to pick out stuff I want.
  9. My recent attempt to play Arcanum kind of fell flat on its face when I, as a pure self-interested thief character, told Virgil to bugger off and tried to wander off on my own. After several attempts, I managed to sneak past the 'ambush' but the tightly packed wolves in the narrow mountain passes slaughtered me a dozen times over. Then I discovered/remembered that I could fast travel before engaging them. But by then I was a bit too annoyed at the game to carry on.
  10. I'm going to be weirded out playing a character surnamed Valla from Vailia, dammit. Won't be playing any paladins - I'm incapable of playing a character who's motivations aren't personal - but welcome their existence as philosophical foes. Last week's Oglaf strip (Laridae) sums up my view of paladins perfectly. Not going to hardlink because the site is unsafe-for-work, but the strip itself is fine.
  11. Not a fan of daily-deal format sales, but that mild personal irritation won't stop me grabbing the free game of course. :D
  12. Google says the V223W has DVI input, for what it's worth.
  13. Digital (DVI/HDMI/DP) vs analogue is a relatively minor factor in display quality, compared to the quality of the LCD panel itself. Analogue would be a bit more prone to interference, but most of its limitations (such as maximum supported resolution) are irrelevant in this context since it's a limitation of the monitor instead of the output device. Another possible limitation I suppose would be inability to play Blu-ray movies on the monitor due to HDCP shenanigans, but I wouldn't imagine that'd be an issue for most people.
  14. Sometimes I do wish I hadn't been so gung-ho in getting dual 27s and instead held off for at least one 30". Not that my 2711s haven't served me well, (aside from occasional issues with incorrectly scaling when connected via DP - a two-second power cycle fixes that), I couldn't conscionably get rid of them now. Not unless I move into a bigger house and can set up a second desktop....
  15. Yeah, it served me well for a good while, overclocked to 2.66GHz (conservative for that chip) with a hefty Scythe Ninja cooler, was a very quiet machine. And yes, that's a regular HDMI output (HDMI support is not-uncommon in modern monitors) which can bitstream audio as well, provided the relevant AMD driver option is installed, the device you're connecting it to can decode it (which any TV with a HDMI input can), and the correct output device chosen in Windows. You can use all the video outputs at the same time in any configuration you like, clone your desktop, extend it, etc. DisplayPort is the next-gen video transfer standard, supporting higher bandwidth and therefore higher resolutions and refresh rates than DVI and HDMI, and also has the benefit of being royalty-free. It requires a compatible monitor of course. It's basically a better HDMI.
  16. Incidentally, I've just decided to refurbish my old PC - it's also a C2D E6300, heh. Bought a cheap SSD (120GB Samsung 840) plus an Accelero Twin Turbo GPU cooler to resurrect my HD5850 which had a failing fan. The 5850 was in my current system until last year, it'd replace the 8800GT currently in the C2D box. I'd also stolen the optical drive and all the SATA cables from this box, so I'll need to scavenge some replacements. I'm not actually sure what I'd use it for, might offer it to my parents/sister who might be able to use a second desktop. Handily there's one remaining use out of their Win7 Family Pack licence.
  17. They may have ordered a professional hitman, but ended up with Kane and Lynch instead. A shame, that game was good as a punchline.
  18. It's starting to resemble not so much a horse race, but a three-way (or four, if you count Windows 8 ) Upper Class Twit of the Year race.
  19. So I was just perusing the front page of the nexus website when I, er, just happened to stumble across the, ahem, hottest new mod for this month. It, um, allows you to customise your adequacy so that no one is marginalised. Typical Bethesda relying on modders to implement what was a core feature in SR3.
  20. Heh, very much the new P4 then. Actually, no, the new P4 Prescott. Bulldozer's original launch being the god-awful Williamette (a backwards step in almost every possible way), Piledriver/Vishera being Northwood (surprisingly decent and reasonably competitive), and now this being Prescott (preshott ...sorry).
  21. Apparently sales of Orwell's 1984 have jumped 9,538% since this scandal broke. Heh.
  22. I haven't made a serious post in this thread yet, and this is borderline, but the only real negative I can say about the aesthetics of Cadegund's outfit is that ridiculous headwear*. The armour, I feel, is somewhat analogous to a modern women's business suit, not overtly sexual, but neither is it unfeminine. * Then again she is a priest, a group of people not known for their sensible hats, no matter what creed.
  23. Assuming it's meant to be a premium release with a clock speed bump, like the old Extreme Edition P4s, it does seem ridiculous, yes. Reports are a bit sketchy at the moment, there's stuff flying around like 220W+ TDPs and $800 price tags, but none of it is official as far as I can see. On the other hand, if it's meant to be a replacement for the 8350 at a similar price point and TDP - analogous perhaps to Richland vs Trinity, then it's a fair enough product, really.
  24. You can put SSDs in PS3's right now ....for no real benefit. Something about how it handled storage meant the speed of SSDs was fully wasted. I use the bosses as a cheap punchline, but ultimately the problem I had with DXHR were the long slogs in the linear missions without letting up. I'm under the impression that this was a result of the removal of potential hub cities in Montreal, and later Singapore, so it'd probably take that for the game to drag me back in. As it goes, I quit after the Picus HQ mission, which was set-up back-to-back with the very lengthy TYM section, it just turned into a painful, unengaging trek through hordes of identical mooks.
