I don't blame you. What exactly is he hoping to accomplish, then? Chris Avellone right now, probably:

I'm not sure if it will make you feel better, but please know - remember - that you are not alone in feeling like this. The inability to understand why people would hurt other people over inconsequential things is a question that haunts me in my waking hours, and a major reason why I've been on medication for the past ten years. It's also why I avoid these grand conversations of social order or politics like a plague. The existence of the internet sure doesn't make it any better, especially when one is forced to watch the unraveling of something seemingly as pure in concept as one's childhood heroes. I don't know you, so forgive me if I am missing the mark here, but you're probably a bit like me: both very naive and very idealistic. As such, I wish I could offer you the comfort you need, and I hate myself for being bad at important words when it matters. Still, for me, it feels better knowing that there's someone like you around. It's not just you against a bleak world - we're out there, people like you, people like me. Don't give up just yet.

They've stated before that gog's infrastructure doesn't really allow them to do promotions like these, so no, not at the moment. They're working on a solution though.

Season pass, you say? And it involves pee? ... I hate that the forum filters are preventing me from making a terrible joke right now.

I know I'm risking moderator wrath for borderline spamming, but please, bear with me this one last time. I mean, I can't honestly be the only who feels that it's never been more appropriate to link this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l6vqPUM_FE (I know, I know. Technically, it's the wrong song, as they couldn't get the license for FO1. But you know...)

Since we've already veered a little into Star Trek over the course of this thread... I just want to use this opportunity as a platform to voice my hope that when - if - a continuation of the topic is created, it will be named Chris Avellone: The Undiscovered Country.

Ganrich gave a pretty good and level-headed explanation here.

Uh... in this thread? Where? I was under the impression that it's been very civil so far.

Is your favorite class still your favorite?

As I haven’t played the beta, and therefore lack the context: could you elaborate a little bit on the whys of that specific conclusion? -
*cough* Waidwen *cough* Waidwen was a vessel for Eothas (allegedly). Abydon had his own physical body. And where exactly did he 'store' that big body, I wonder? Can they just manifest into physical form onto Eora from their plane of existence? I'm not even sure if this has ever been addressed in the lore proper, but I've been wondering about this myself too. On one hand, you have gods as pure soul power, entities interacting with the physical world through vessels and avatars (Waidwen, the Effigy). But then you learn the story of Abydon and you realize that half of your time during WM2 you've been walking around poking around his very real, very physical, and very huge skeleton. You could argue that those are merely the remains of yet another (ex-)living vessel, but if that's the case, who or what was the vessel? Assuming those are indeed his own remains, I'm sort of confused as to what this means for the rest of the pantheon. Do Eora's gods just chill around corporeally on some not-Olympus somewhere? I can only hope Deadfire will add some new information to the table.

Aren't they saying we'd be the ones to disbelieve it This IS Obsidian's board. That's a fair expectation. But this board seems more apathetic about this subject than anything. I expected to wake up to a much larger thread, but apparently "Chris hates Obsidian" isn't as big a draw on this board as posting "Romance in PoE II". . .. ... "Chris Avellone confirmed as a romance option in PoE II"

I think it's one of those cases where pure artistic talent doesn't necessarily go along with other qualities that would make his presence desirable (or um, endurable) for a large team-based project. Nobody can deny Chris is capable of writing mad, brilliant things, but when you hear him talk during conferences, he has that vibe of someone who's best admired from afar as opposed to actually being part of your team. I'm sure many would say that it's a negligible concession and that a revered writer like Chris has unquestionably earned any special treatment he may require. However, I think it's simply not feasible for any company to make sweeping reorganizations just to appease one guy who may or may not end up working more efficiently in the process.

This. For all of my private fanboyism of Chris, this right here is why I ultimately find myself unable to completely sympathize with him in this commotion. Since his parting with Obsidian, year after year he's been giving interviews in which he cryptically alluded to the "real reasons" behind his departure. Throughout them all, he's kept up this angle of disagreeing with management-level decisions, but ultimately retaining respect for the work of his ex-colleagues at Obsidian. Putting questions of validity aside, the manner and timing he chose for his revelations makes him look anything but respectful. I'm not saying he's acting out of spite, but right now he sure comes off as someone who wants to gleefully set things on fire just so he can piddle on the ashes. To me, he seems to be going for maximum hurt. So much for respect for his peers, eh?
