  1. Hey now, don't be an armchair grognard elitist. At least it wasn't Destiny 2.
  2. I know, right? One minute, it's all delicious train-bread and then BAM! You're biting a rock. I guess I'll have to reconsider my bread choices, too.
  3. But... do we know that for sure? Are gods really capable of learning, improving, and thinking for themselves? I'm not sure what the proper term to apply here would be, especially in the context of discussing these apparent deficiencies of the gods (sapience?), but there's something very odd and uncanny valley-ish about the talk with Ondra in WM2. You can poke holes and dismantle the justifications for her ludicrous plan(s) piece by piece, and all she has to offer is an answer that amounts to "no u"? To an extent, the same could be said about Pallegina's conversation with Hylea. I mean, what? There's also the fact that - if I remember correctly - if you reforge Abydon with no strings attached and he comes back with all the memories and knowledge he had at the time of his demise, the ending makes it clear that he basically repeats history. All of that despite him knowing what had caused his fall in the first place, and the price the world ultimately paid/could pay for it. Is that really the behavior of someone who is capable of learning? The only way to make him improve is to "temper" him, and that's just the Watcher playing around with Abydon's godly wires. I could be misinterpreting things, but whenever there's a chance to converse with a god on an equal footing, it always seems to come off like a chat with Cleverbot. But maybe that's just me.
  4. I accidentally microwaved a baguette and it went full carbon on me. Now I'm sad. It was a good baguette.
  5. Huh. I haven't thought of it that way, but that's a great point. It certainly makes sense given the in-game information we're given: - the gods obey their internal laws to the point of absurdity - Woedica is the goddess of all law - at the same time, Woedica doesn't play by the rules herself and is seemingly the only goddess to behave like this Makes sense for her to be the override for the system.
  6. On the bright side, the new Prey was a wonderful game.
  7. Come on, man. You don't have to agree with anyone, but why resort to insults? I refuse to believe you can't thoughtfully and respectably lay out your points.
  8. Funny thing is, P5 shares multiple voice actors with Pillars. Sojiro is Zahua, Yusuke is Eder/Aloth... It’s even better if you’ve played Tyranny. The protagonist is voiced by the Voices (duh) of Nerat of all people.
  9. Well, were you a Messy Or Broken Launch, sir?
  10. See now, this has been mentioned a couple of times, and I'm somewhat sure Galawain himself explains this during Council of Stars, but the more I think about it, the more this bugs me. I mean, when you consider the nature of the gods, and all the self-preservation checks and balances built into their being... isn't Galawain's sponsorship of animancy something of a contradiction? We know that the Eoran pantheon was created with obfuscation of truth in mind, with Wael being the chief offender here. We also know that their ideologies and behavioral patterns were pre-programmed by the Engwithans. As such, doesn't Galawain seem like a huge design flaw that endangers the entire system from the get-go? Maybe I'm thinking of Eora's gods too much in terms of kinda-sorta fantasy AI/complex soul programs, but I've always been under the impression that the gods cannot outgrow their makers' parameters.
  11. This, exactly this. injurai put it to words way better than I could.
  12. You're saying his backstory is important to the game. Again, without spoilers - is his backstory alluded to at any point during the game? Or is that something that only you as the player are aware of?
  13. Sure, content gets cut all the time. I'm reasonably confident that most of the major releases, especially complex RPGs, have loose strings dangling under the hood - but not necessarily due to malevolent business decisions. It's not always about pilfering the customer, much as the internet echo chambers would like you to believe otherwise. Sometimes, stuff gets left out for a tangible reason: it's bad, or too time-consuming to implement, or meandering, or doesn't really fit the rest of the game. It's a question that some restoration mods (like the unofficial VTMB patches) struggle with, the question being: was this particular piece of content meant to be restored? Is there anything of substance here, really? Not everything is Capcom-grade on-disc embezzlement scam. And refining an omitted concept from the original pitch for the purposes of DLC doesn't make it lazy pre-packaged "cut content". EDIT: Some corrections here and there.
  14. I really dislike this widespread narrative that every single piece of extra content that comes out for any game nowadays is "cut content". At best, it's just harmless internet blather. At worst, it's taking a giant dump on the creative efforts of great many people just because someone in charge had, maybe, perhaps, the gall to draft and/or plan some concepts in advance. That's not cut content, that's just good development practice. I can't recall who, but one of the posters in this thread (I think, I have a terrible memory, and these outraged topic titles tend to blur in my mind) correctly pointed out that developing video games is a process that involves multiple tempos. Writers typically conclude their work earlier than some other members of the development team. It's really not a stretch to imagine that they may be directed to brainstorming DLC ideas while the main product is still in the oven. EDIT: I mean, how is, say, Carrie Patel going to contribute to fixing bugs? What is she supposed to be doing in that time? Streaming her playthroughts of Arcanu--no, wait, that's Chris Avellone.
  15. Out of curiosity, since I've been avoiding reading anything about the game to avoid spoilers... Me, I'm a fan of the original GoW games. How much of them is there left in there? Is it just Kratos stitched onto an entirely new property that could've worked just as well without the big brand name, or is there some genuine connection to the originals? I was planning to pick up the game either way, I'm just wondering.
  16. But at least they'll apologize afterwards. (I'm sorry. Obvious joke, I know.)
  17. Funny way to spell "Konstanten". You misspelled Cosmo the Space Pig. As a rule of thumb, I try not to romance my bacon.
  18. Throne of Bhaal was a revenue raising tool. Fight me.
  19. Funny way to spell "Konstanten". I'm personally most interested in meeting Arkemyr as his shtick seems to revolve around illusions and annoying the living crap out of others, but I guess he's already going to be covered by the base game, so I'm happy regardless of whom they they choose for the third DLC.
  20. Honest question: why do you assume that they would port PoE 1 to PoE 2's engine? What would be the point of that? I can't help but think it'd be a considerable waste of time with zero return.
  21. That's assuming the crocs and the platypi won't get you first.
  22. Heck, I can wait two and dish out $50, as long as it's Mask of the Betrayer stuff! “Feedback received, Eder is now a bear” -Obsidian, probably
  23. I have a hunch that Gromnir would make a great professional wrestler.
  24. Fingers crossed for your dog's health! Also, give him plenty of good boy belly rubs.
