  1. I resemble this comment. Seriously, since I'm ALWAYS a Ranger in every IE game I play, I cannot, in good conscious advise you to kick the Ranger out of the party. Especially in this game. Having the companion really helps DPS/Tanking enemies. My wolf, Svall, is a monster now. Even has a knockdown ability. Rangers coupled with a companion and Mark are awesome.
  2. Thanks for the response. Love your contributions to the game btw. Your solution isn't the easiest, but it's definitely something I can try. I'll let you know how I get on. Any chance of getting an Ambient Soundtrack release??? I'm SURE there is a market for that kind of stuff SOMEWHERE.....
  3. Lol. Sorry, but that is one hilarious bug! BTW-I didn't even know you could help defend your own keep! I thought it was all automated!!! I wonder if anyone else has experienced this issue...
  4. My first playthrough I am using the made up companions that Obsidian created. On my second playthrough, I'm creating my own custom party. I love making my own charcaters and adding bios for them all. Come to think of it, can you create custom bios in this game?? I know I can add notes to my journal.
  5. The only long load time I have experienced is when I first fire up the game and use the "Continue" feature. That load screen is waaaaay too long. Other than that, I have not experienced long load times at all.
  6. Some of me wishes there was more voice acted stuff. For example-the actors they did hire to do VO work. Not all that character's lines are done with VO. But, since it's an RPG, I enjoy reading the text in my mind (or sometimes out loud if I really want to nerd out) and making up the voices of how I think they would/should sound. Really brings the world to life.
  7. Um, bugs are a part of gaming-like it or not. Everyone has rose colored glasses when it comes to BG and IWD. Those games had bugs too. If I'm not mistaken I remember dowloading a patch for BG2 after it had been out for 2 plus years. When you get a 50+ hour game with A LOT of quests and lots of mechanics bugs are to be expected. Now, some of the bugs at release were bad (I didn't experience any of them) and that should not be excused. But to say you're and "exFan."???? To each his own I suppose....
  8. http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-NotePal-X3-Cooling/dp/B0079T2KHG/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1428441167&sr=8-6&keywords=laptop+cooler It had a $5 rebate when I bought it as well. So far, so good!
  9. Forgive me, but when I read this I thought it said: "Why people say prostitution is useless" I think I saw the "P" in "people" and the "constitution" and....ah forget it. But, of course CONSTITUTION is important. It's hit points. You need it. At least some. Can't say I would ever make a character with "3 constitution."
  10. This is good to hear. Becasue I want more PoE content. For years to come. Then, if it keeps up, maybe....just maybe we will actually get BG3.......~leaves computer before the madness begins~
  11. I wish they helped protect from Crits-like the old IE games did. Also, I really wish neckaces and cloaks did not take the same slot....
  12. So I went through all the files in the game last night trying to locate the ambient sound files. I have the soundtrack and love it dearly. But what I really want is to be able to extract all the ambient sounds (rain/thunder, tavern talk, etc) and put them on a disk or cell phone. I simply love that stuff. Does anyone know how this can be accomplished? I don't believe they were in WAV format? Would they have to be converted somehow? Thanks in advance!
  13. I had the same issue last night. Was doing the endless dungeon and when floor 4 loaded the framriate took a MAJOR nose dive. I had been playing for probably 2 hrs before that happened. I closed the game out and ran a Norton cleanup and rebooted. Issue fixed. For some reason this game is taxing on some computers...
  14. I'm usually the first person to complain about a game and where it lacks, but in all honesty, I'm not finding anything in this game to complain about. While it was in Beta and I learned there was no XP for killing enemies, I was not sure how that would play out. Now, playing the game I don't have a problem with it. In fact, it makes me want to complete quests even more to get the XP. As far as the term "trash mobs" goes-when did that term come in to existence? The first time I heard it came from a certain MMO that's been around for a decade plus. This isn't an MMO. Sure, there are weak enemies, but the way I look at it is this-I destroy 3 wolves or a band of bandits and I feel good and powerful. Then I come upon a Drake and his minions and I realize I'm not on the top of the food chain!
  15. I really don't know where I'm at in the game as for as length. I am about 33 hrs in and halfway to Level 8 with my 6 character party. I've tried to pick up every side quest I have come across. I've gone through 4 of the 5 districts in Defiance Bay. Just arrived at Dyrwood Village last night and got the farmer/pig quest I've watched online 100 times during Beta Backer videos. I've been taking my time reading the bestiary entries (although I haven't read too many of the world lore books I've picked up). I've cleared every map I've come across and done 5 lvls of the endless dungeon. Do you think I still have a long ways to go story-wise? Will I tap out at 12 long before the ending of the main story if I keep picking up and completing all these side quests, tasks, and bounties??
  16. I always assumed it was two things: 1) The end of Black Isle 2) Computer hardware/software moving on 3D games became the "in thing." I REALLY hope with the success of PoE, this form of gaming comes back. Would love to see Bioware make one-although they are almost a completely different company now... And for something WAAAAy off topic....what ever happened to Jade Empire 2???
  17. Wait. You're on your third playthrough already?? I think I've found the problem...
  18. i'm getting the second one as well. Pre-download for the upcoming patch perhaps?
  19. I am just SO glad we are here talking about a CRPG again. It's been waaay too long. I am so impressed with Obisidian. These guys were ready to fold. And the one game they thought to make is the one game genre the world thought was dead. Props to them for sticking with their old school gut and making PoE. Sure, it's not perfect and there are bugs. But what game this size doesn't have bugs the first week or two. The ground work has been laid. I never in a million years thought I would be playing this type of game in 2015. And now we may be getting a second one. I will continue to enjoy this game as I delve deeper into the lore, the dungeons, and the world that has been crafted.
  20. Hmm. I feel this game has a good amount of content. As far as dungeons being exciting and coming across more than monsters, I haven't had any complaints. Currently, I'm in some catacombs under a city (trying to be spoiler free here) and came across a couple NCP's that were VERY interesting-especially the undead one (clears throat). I love the "choose your own adventure" paths you can take with some of the dungeon events. As far as path finding-I feel this game has WAAAY better path finding than any of the IE games did-at least when adventruing. When it comes to combat, there has been a handful of times I have to manually click on a melee character to have him go around to the other side of the monster so he can attack. I'm sure that can be corrected with a patch.
  21. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and that should be respected. With that said-this is the internet and ppl act and do horrible things behind the "internet wall of protection." I don't agree with your thoughts, but I will never berate you for speaking your mind. So far this game feels just like the old IE games but with more updated graphics and extra small things like "Fast mode" and "Slow mode." I love the fast mode if I am backtracking. As far a replayability-there are 11 classes!. I can't wait to start a second playthrough and make all 6 characters for my party. I always loved the Icewind Dale games for that reason. Who doesn't love Minsc and Boo and pre-made characters? But, I love to create my own characters and give them a lengthy biography and make it all tie in to the game. I love this game so far. To each his own.
  22. I love the patch notes! However, I missed the one about certain maps loading in really low-rez/pixalated. Seems to be the same maps for me no matter how many times I exit the map and re-load. One example is the upstairs area in the Stronghold where you sleep. That map is super low rez all the time.
  23. So far I love combat. It's refreshing to micro manage everything. I miss that in games. I just blew through Dragon Age Inquisition (which I loved) a month or two ago and maybe used the tactical camera twice. I loved that Bioware added it and I thought I would use it-but the game just wasn't that difficult. This game-I am pausing all the time and issuing commands and thinking what is the best choice. I'm scared to death to let battle run for more than 3 seconds for fear I'll screw it up. I love that. To each his own, but I hardly think battle is boring. I'm about 18 hrs in and still trying to figure stuff out.
