  1. I've always wondered how Zombies seem to be able to operate doors and get into the WEIRDEST places. I mean the humies have a nice little hidey hole picked out but they find that about halfway through their alloted survival time a zombie is able to practically parachute into their hole and drive them out into the wild where they will be eaten faster than you can say "lollypop?"
  2. actually I'm happy the dems didn't get a supermajority because generally when a party has a supermajority they tend to get fat heads and do all sorts of stupid stuff. So a gay couple couldn't challenge the amendment under the precedent of "Brown v Board of Education"?
  3. who knows they may put half the worlds in SW:TOR as dynamic where Jedi and Sith duke it out in order to take the world and get the quests... wait... (remembers the illfated storyline with galaxies where you did quests for a certain story based contact, and the number of quests completed by your faction total would determine which way the storyline would go... and because everyone loved rebels, they always won) thats a bad idea.
  4. ... I could only see Bethesda outsourcing the Fallout brand to Obs under limited conditions. Generally those conditions run along the lines of bethesda acquiring Obs and either shutting it down as its own house or letting it run as its own company but still it has to be under the bethesda umbrella. The only other way I could see a Fallout being done by Obs would be if Bethesda wanted to have a different take on the same material (see Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and such). and even then Obs hasn't shown itself to be very much about other game types other than RPGs. the only reason a franchise is made by two different developers is if the franchise is owned not by the developers themselves but by the publisher. the most recent examples of this are the Guitar Hero, and Call of duty franchises. where some of the games are made by one developer but that developer escapes into the wild after a few years so the publisher not wanting to give up the cash cow, turn around and have a new developer come in and take over. Of course Call of Duty's developer came back from their safari and promptly shot the moon. Can they repeat with Call of Duty 5?
  5. Technically, nothing can supersede the Constitution. However, it can be amended if a proposition by Congress is assented to by 2/3 of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, in addition to 3/4 of all states. I think you are thinking of the wrong constitution. Nothing can supersede the US constitution but I was lead to believe that if the federal government had a law about thus and such then the States HAD to follow that law. I'm wondering because Prop 8 is a state constitutional amendment, and I was wondering if the Feds had the power to override the legislation with their own legislation.
  6. question to the legals around these here parts, Would a federal law supersede a state constitution? or would a state constitution be grandfathered into the federal law. It should be noted that all marriages already performed by the State of California will be legal AFTER the amendment is successful (if it is (theres still hope!)) because they cannot retroactively annul that many marriages.
  7. ... Sigh I miss my body from when I was still one of the top butterfly swimmers in the league...
  8. It should be noted the FORMER senate minority leader. His seat got taken in the elections iirc.
  9. More ads that feature heidi Klum in her undies ftw. How about Kobe Bryant, Tony Hawk, Michael Phelps and Whasshisname playing in their boxers?
  10. I think that the involvement of the Utah Church made prop 8 into a beast that will cause problems in the future. I don't like getting calls from utah about a CA only amendment. It just irks me that they'd try to run another state when they have their own to manage. Would they like me to come into their state and initiate a process that allowed their daughters to have abortions without telling the parents (I think that was actually California Prop 4 >.>) ? anywho I think that this is going to have to go to the US supreme court simply because it'd be the only way to get rid of the constitutional amendment and it's MUCH harder to change THAT constitution than our own.
  11. Honestly the only way you are going to get truly divergent storyline is when a dev gets kooky enough to take all their effort and put it into making a WILDLY diverging storyline based on multiple key points. You probably will never see this with RPGs and Open world games as it is. However I think that True Crime: Streets of LA actually did a fairly good job of giving you a divergent storyline. Basically the way it was set up was that there was a main plot that was like a line. if you got stuck and wanted to do a different story mission you could select an easier story that would take you down a branch that usually ended badly. But to have a story that ends in truly different ways where you can play through it twice and never have the same experience is unlikely to ever happen because nobody wants to put that much effort into making a game and story revolve around it. Even the most choicey games have a single strand of a story that runs through it. (fable 2). I truly wish that we could have games that depending on significant decisions would turn on their ears for you instead of the usual "didn't be nice and save everyone? you get the BAD ending!" or having the giant choice be at the VERY end and the always make sure you know this is the major choice. I also think that as games have matured they have shortened. Less work is being put into a story and instead the developers are focusing on "I want as many AWESOME moments as we can get!" which tends to lead to the gamers being overawed by a relatively average game if it weren't for some stupid set pieces. The biggest problem I can see is that if you make the choice to early in the game then you have to literally come up with more than one story line for a game (which personally I think would be awesome to see a game with several storylines you could end up getting railed along on). Wouldn't it be interesting if in mass effect you could choose to either chase down Saren or start a different investigation into, say, geth aggression in the traverse. the first story could be what we got from mass effect while the second could lead to more interaction with the Citidels military, and intelligence apparatus'. your investigation could cause Sarens plans to go awry differently than they did in the main game in that the drain on Sarens resources could cause him not to be able to initiate the end run to Citidel through the conduit and could lead instead to a showdown with him aboard his command ship while two fleets duked it out. I had WAY to much fun crafting that in my head. but you get the picture, divergent storylines are something that we are going to see become more cliche than being space marines but the only real divergence is weather or not you choose to kill your color character in a fit of rage.
  12. My hope is yes under "separate but equal" Indeed. Brown v Board of Education. Was that what they used to strike down Prop 22? :digs through wikipedia: Well the courts ruled that under Article 1 Section 7 of the california Constitution Prop 22 and the 1977 law were unconstitutional. Prop 8 however would be a constitutional amendment thus getting around that little roadblock. I'm just thinking that the elimination of the rights of Gays and Lesbians to wed and (from what I've heard) instead give them "civil Unions" would fall under the shadow of Brown v board of education in that the civil unions would inherently be inequal. My guess is that if it passes the Gay rights movement will promptly turn around grab it and take it to a federal level as best they can.

  15. I think that they are finally starting to ramp up the releases. I'm guessing 2009 will be a good year for the PS3. I think the biggest problem is that they currently don't have many exclusive titles because all the of the larger developers are hitting a larger audience by putting games out on everything with a screen.
  16. this is LucasArts, they axed the creative division around the time they axed tim schaffer(?)
  17. Myself? I also fear independance to a degree... :sigh:
  18. MGS4 was actually done with MoCap so their movements are pretty life like. albeit the gratuitous ass shots kinda throw it. Metal gear is more like a playable movie than anything else. Most of the time the movies are well done, if the dialogue is a bit cheesy so that they can tie up loose ends and not loose even the thickest players. I'm just worried about Resident Evil 5's dialogue and movement :shutters:
  19. supposedly the guy who wrote the legislature is using the answer of what people fear about gays and marrige to make his ads. I unfortunatly live in an EXTREMELY conservative area and prop 8 signs are everywhere. most recently the prop eight signs have "Prop8= less government" which seems kinda... wrong and blatant lying. I also can't drive through the center of Sac (Greenback + Sunrise) without having to pass through two rallies one on each side of the street... one is no on prop 8 the other is yes on prop 8. There have been arrests EVERY night since that started. Prop 8 supporters are also sayin that Gay marriage will be taught in schools, which CA superintendant of schools says isn't true. As to the presidential campaign, I sincerely doubt that McCain will win. According to what Little I saw off CNN he has to win ALL the battleground states and take Colorado and Nevada.
  20. do you mean the cards or the language? the cards are still censored as to not have them censored would make an AO rating happen quite swiftly, language isn't. but if you go on their official forums in the european section there's a simple patch that changes the cards back.
  21. I've heard the game is hit or miss. Some people love the feel of it and the Tim Curry (who doesn't love Tim Curry?) but others think its abominable. It'll be interesting to see for myself once I get my hands on a copy.
  22. Well, I can see your concern. I think the fact that my daughter is a girl will help counter that. :D I think I felt a twitch where my soul used to be (I kid. I've got a good soul... or so videogames tell me when I just do what I normally would)
  23. instead it will be a chunk of ice that will destroy your neighbors deck and possibly break a hip on someone... the carrot will no longer be eatible! in other news I appear to have made a funny in the zero punctuation thread. I didn't know I was humorous (oh self esteem... is this what it feels like?) And I managed to get through a night of trickertreaters as the door man. only about 100 kids dropped by but we had three and a half extra bags of suckers so I've been trying to make those things disspapear... into the night!
  24. ... theres a intercom thingy on land that will allow you to have a bridge swung out for you to cross to the carrier.
  25. ... there is a pack of nuns at the freaking hospital.
