  3. Far Cry and Crysis are also some half decent games. Far cry is extremly difficult, but crysis has some really awesome visuals.

  7. Nope, considering most games, including those two, are released here at roughly the same time as the rest of the world. It's actually extremely rare for games to be released months after the US, and it's generally due to a ban, such as with Dark Sector, which was released months later after content was cut.   10. I think the reason we aren't seeing Fable 2 and Fallout 3 is because of the "ghettoization" of the australian gaming scene (his words) where months can go by between a release in america and a release in the outback.
  11. To many of them their guns are like their babies. And now that Obama is elected they fear he'll take their babies away from them. It's not the gun itself it's the fact that the government would be attempting to supress/eliminate a god given constitutionally guaranteed right. It is real easy to see how the elimination of one right sets precedent for the elimination of others if the government decides it wishes to do so. But I think you should enforce nation wide laws about guns when it comes to who can own it and what firearms can be bought. So one that buys a gun has to pass a psychological test, have no criminal history, things like that and not like in some states as I remember all you have to own is a membership of a gun range facility so the usage and purchase is 'justified'. With some clear restriction like that OK, if a person owns a sidearm and has it registered, fine. And why wouldn't they for an example restrict the number of guns one can own and register, what's with those psychos that own 10+ firearms? Why can one order without much trouble a thing like M82 online with little oversight? Yeah I'm a hunter and I use .50 anti material sniper rifle to shoot ducks. Why are firearms like that, like the M4, CAR-15 and similar even in the store? except the problem is how stringent the guildines are as to mental instability. this was lampooned in Simpsons by homer being marked as "unstable" but still being able to purchase 3 handguns. I think that with my instability I'd still be able to purchase handguns. Also there's gunshows where the guidelines seem to relax compared to walking into a shop. And finally there's always going to be unregistered .38 Saturday specials up for sale on the streets for pretty cheap (because they are short range and don't have much stopping power.
  12. I donno... I'd at least expect them to do a fade to black if you pick up a hooker. It kinda throws you out of the experiance like a shot put at the Olympics when you pay a hooker for her professional duties and then get a spooning...

  15. You mean the instant-kill-no-challenge-super-auto-aim gun? I tried it out in Ep 1. yeah... I had alot of fun tossing combine troopers around. Just fyi Eps one and two aren't really that different from HL2
  16. I got that, but why does he want to finish it if he finds it boring and thus not enjoyable? Is it for story reasons, or perhaps just for the sake of completionism? These are all valid reasons, but I am just interested what the reason is that compels him to continue playing it despite the lack of enjoyment. Because I always finish my games. But HL is wearing me down. This game is terribly boring. No ambience, no mood, not nearly enough music, shooting is nothing special, storyline delivery is incredibly annoying and pointless (it looks like the game doesn't have anything to say), there is no hook at all, the humans look damn happy for an oppressed race, the environments are incredibly dull and boring, the animation is smooth but feels weird and the art design is just lame. A dull and boring shooter, but hey, people seem to like it. Also, Portal surpasses it in every possible way. I should pick up around the "citizen one" chapter (where you lead the resistance) of course there is still that 5 minute ride of boredom that is the journey to breens office. Actually, no, it got worse. The environments just get boring (oh look, normal-looking buildings with some hint of destruction and ugly black citadel walls! What fun!), and the squad mechanic is lame, lazy and has only one purpose: annoy you by constantly having allies block tight corridors. Ah. have you gotten the supercharged grav gun yet?

  18. he probably wants to finish it because elitists say "If you haven't played Half Life 2 you aren't a gamer" Also the super grav gun you get at the end is quite nice. Valve needs to work on their storyline delivery if they are going to keep doing the same bloody crap over and over again (which seems to be the case with the Episodes) They need to learn how to convey more of the story and back story instead of having you sit down and watch Dr. Breen answer questions on the TV in City 17's train station. Also the whole ride to breens office should have been omitted IMHO.

Someday Sand you are going to wake up and realize that that vast majority of your fellow citizens do believe in God in some form or another. Including the founding fathers of your country who had the wisdom and foresight to spell out that unalienable right DO come from God and not from man. If rights came from man then man could take them away. So if you value your freedom it actually behooves you to be at least a little religious. But I was just using a phrase for emphasis the post in question. Is our creator really God? Not Allah? or Buddha? Or Shakti? Its a turn of phrase I know but it's a man given right to run around with weapons. After all God certainly didn't come down and use his infinite power to create the first gun. To vote to deny a right to somebody because the supporters of that right gloated a little bit is akin to saying the african americans shouldn't have rights because radical members of the black community killed people. Hell even when they were still slaves African-Americans could still wed. It should be pointed out that gay couples that enter into a civil union as they would have to now, would not be recognized by the federal government as being partners. and that's going to lead to one heck of a bundle of problems when a "unionized(?)" couple tries to move to another state.

After reading through some of wikipedia Insane Clown Posse seems to be a pair of nutters who think that they can control the world... it's interesting to see how they basically alienate every person who doesn't follow them. and the sheer number of record labels that have dropped them is staggering.

Generally its accepted that indigo prophecy syndrome is when a game is REALLY fantastic for the first 3/4's of it then the developers either ran out of time or ideas and everything that was fun about the game evaporates into action territory with the main character seemingly pulling superpowers out of nowhere and then using them to try to defeat the evil villian.   24. Do you even know what you're talking about, or do you just make random statements out of your ass? As far as Cthulhu development, I think the game was supposed to be much bigger initially, with several detectives available as playable characters, so it was just a case of an inexperienced developer biting off too much. Still a work of art though, too bad it sold so poorly. I guess they didn't have much marketing. I was not even aware that there was a Cthulhu game. I was only aware of it because somebody here played it and they all came to the general conclusion that the game didn't live up to the mythos iirc. Also it suffered from Indigo Prophesy syndrome.
