I know our long dark year last year nearly flung me into a pit.

I had a load of bananas going off, so I tried to make a banana coffee and allspice cake. It turned out tasty enough, but with the consistency of biltong. I honestly don't know if this qualifies as a win or not.

If you read the article, they didn't flat out ask them "Excuse me, but have you committed rape recently?" They asked them if they had had sex with women under certain circumstances. Those circumstances qualifying as rape. I believe the key here is that we are talking in this instance about rapes that might have been avoided if the perpetrator knew/believed those circumstances constituted rape. My own perspective is that while there are cultural differences between nations, we are living in an era where all internet users and global consumers have an impact on global culture. We can talk about these issues, and we can express an interest in cultural icons educating men about the issues. -

Yeah, Lezz. I mean just one. The artwork for some is really pretty cool. Plus you'd be instantly recognisable to other nerds. And in answer to Melkathi, Steam already do merchandise. It would be the IP share with the devs that would be the issue. But I'd imagine that since they created the damn achievements just for Steam they must be generally amenable.

I need to grab a bunch of new t-shirts (as happens about once a year), and an idea struck me. Why doesn't steam offer t-shirts for sale, emblazoned with achievements you actually have? And ONLY those achievements you actually have?

It would. Depends a lot on the place, one old uni mate got shunned by his entire team when he interned at a place - they'd go for lunch without him, barely speak to him, etc. Not much to learn from an experience like that. I would suggest that shows a lack of task focus. A strong team goal allows integration to depend on your contribution towards that goal, not what shoes you are wearing, or how old you are, etc. A weak task focus shows poor leadership. So, while I'm pointing the finger at your mate's team leader, I'd also suggest that it's hardly grounds to despair of internships. Typically interns get assigned to the most wily leaders in a group, because they give cheap effort.

LOL@Chippy I don't believe I have EVER played as an elf because _I_ associate them with munchkins. But you're right: ineffectual middle management is much more scary.

Reconciling different perspectives on grieving

It strikes me that there are parallels between this notion of a progression and 'drama' theories of negotiation. I wonder, therefore, if this similarity doesn't imply some tension between two parts of the mind during grief. They have to reach a negotiated accommodation in order to resolve the crisis. -

Glad to hear she's OK. Have you checked for CCTV nearby? Some householders and shops have cameras when you wouldn't automatically expect them to.

I swear I was told the 7.92 was too powerful. Although checking the muzzle velocities and energy imparted I don't actually get it. *shrug* Well, that's me learned. EDIT: I'm digging myself a hole here, but what the hell. Can't get schooled without looking stupid. In fairness to my unidentifiable advisor, after reading this comparison it occurs to me that the StG would have seemed a lot punchier than the 9mm parabellum of the MP40. It's also twice the muzzle velocity of the Thompson SMG. I can imagine that in the hands of an Allied soldier expecting something like the above, the StG would feel wrong.

Given that the problem with the '44 was that it fired a round that was far far too large, wouldn't fitting a .22 rob it of any real point? Besides, I find all Nazi kit a bit creepy. With the exception of the k98 (which I associate with WW1) and the StuG variants (which I think look like pigs).

I've just dug deep and stumped up the five quid for t Chaos edition, so I'm on the same version as you buggers.

I'm not sure it's a fair comparison. The whole way those chaps play is based on the assumption that they'll be wearing a load of body armour, and so is the guy they're playing against. So I'd expect the tackles to be totally inappropriate in both directions.
