Oh no... my least liked DnD-creatures ever are going to make it in the game. Lame I dislike them in DnD mainly because I like them in completely different settings like RL Jurassic Park or The Dinos. Totally not in DnD or any other Fantasy surroundings however.

They'll do all right, it seems. Preliminary benchmarks show a great improvent to the HD3xxx-Series. They'll be mid-range to performance cards, except the next "x2"-model (hd 4890?) that will compete with the 280 (or rather be faster than it, because HD4850 Crossfire apparently beats the 280, with lower costs and less powerconsumption - while of course still using A LOT of current). A 4850 seems to be at the level of an 9800GTX. As said, these values are still to be considered rumors even if the cards really were sold and tested, it wasn't by professionals, and with beta drivers. The 4870 will only be out with the official launch at the 25th, and some people estimate its performance close to a 260.

The brand is good, but you'll not be needing DDR3 1333 or higher, as Intel processors don't benefit from anything faster than DDR2 800 which would cut your price down to a quarter or something like this. This may change with the upcoming Nehalem, so if you want to re-use your RAM, you can invest that money in the DDR3 1600, otherwise I'd say it's better spent elswhere.

People here were quite elated because of that game. Seems to have been cool, no need for the hate...

Two graphics cards = twice the heat just get some big, slow, expensive fans to create a nice airflow in the system, if the ones included in the case are not good/silent enough. And tell us how setting up the P182 was, because I'm looking into getting one of these too...

Is it HDR? I thought the witcher just used bloom. Not sure though... The screenie with the people fleeing from the bhargests ist great.

Motherboard: make sure your processor fits also, if you want a silent pc check some reviews on power usage, the less it uses, the more silent you pc can be cooled. Same thing is true for every component, including CPU and GPU (making the absurd 1kW PSU even more overkill ), so: The 3850 is good, too, but it's so cheap right now that it can be considered budget-class, and that's probably not what Gorth's looking for. Otoh, chances for it being cooled passively are bigger than with a 3870, let alone x2... Oh, and if you want 8GB of RAM, the mainboard needs 4 Ram-slots.
