Not everyone who has the game has experienced these issues. Most of the reviewers have commented on the frame rate slowdowns and such, they just didn't comment on freezing or unplayable quests. But again, those don't seem to be occurring in EVERY game sold. Plus, judging by the reviews out there, I'd hazzard a guess that some of these reviewers haven't even PLAYED the game yet, since their reviews sound like a copy and paste job rather than firsthand knowledge.

Things I would do if I were you: 1-Trade in the disk for a new one to see if you just got one of the many "bad" disks. 2-If that doesn't work then either a)if you really really want to play, try another trade in to see if the third disk finally works or b)return it for cash/different game.

I don't think I phrased my comment how I was actually intending. What I meant was that someone who intended to buy KOTOR2 all along, would end up buying it regardless of which month it was released. I suppose you're correct that the "marginal" consumer who is just out to buy a Christmas gift for someone might not make that purchase at any other time, but in terms of people who intend (such as myself and many others on this forum) to buy the game since it was announced, the "Christmas rush" has no effect on me. And thus my second point, that those additional "marginal consumers". Is that additional revenue from those types worth the potential bad goodwill and public relations among actual fans that are loyal to the company? I think they shot themselves in the foot on two accounts. 1)They pissed off the "loyal" consumers who were anticipating this game and 2)These "marginal" consumers probably won't buy another Lucasarts product if they assume that all products are as buggy and incomplete as this one is. I guess it's my business and marketing background that kicks in whenever business decisions are made and seem to have failed, but from everything I've learned, been taught, and applied in my career, it would seem that Lucasarts took the short-term gain over the long-term prosperity choice. But then again, I suppose the current CEO (or whoever made the decision) only cares about THIS year's revenue, since his job could be on the line at any moment after a bad year or two of sales.

How often do you have to save? How often do you recommend saving, based on the instability issues a lot of people are facing?

What I don't get is, is the slightly extra revenue for the Christmas season worth the long term bad reputation that Lucasarts (and the KOTOR series in general) is receiving? Wouldn't these same sales figures be achieved with a bit later release anyways? I don't know many people who would only buy this game for Christmas, but would decide not to buy it if it wasn't the Christmas season. IMO, whoever is running Lucasarts has a very short-sighted approach to the business.

Whose job was it to do the QA for TSL? It appears you're correct and that the QA was piss poor at best. But I guess that's what happens when a company wants to make sure it pushes the game out for sale in time for the Christmas season.

Actually it's not even the "newbies" that are the problem all the time. I've seen some "regulars" that don't seem to have the common sense to post their threads in the Spoiler section. IMO, it's not a n00b problem. It's a common sense problem. Unfortunately, a few people on this forum don't seem to have any.

Well, I'm starting to wonder they there is even a Spoiler forum. A lot of threads in the General discussion contain spoilers, and even if the thread starter asks for no spoilers to be posted in their thread, someone inevitably comes in on page 3 or whatever and posts something pertaining to the plot. I have not even once stepped foot in the Spoiler or Storyline forums (except for the very first day they were created), yet just by browsing some threads in General discussion, I already know a bunch of spoilers about certain events, characters, or story points. Very disappointing and a reason why I'm still pissed off at Lucasarts for breaking their "simultaneous release" promise. <_<

I don't have an opinion yet, since I haven't played TSL. However, if the ending is as many say it is, then I'd hope that Obsidian does KOTOR3 for the mere fact they would know where they want to go with the story.

I think you're looking for an action game, not a RPG. I suggest Jedi Academy.

I'm a little worried that the PC version will still have the same bugs that the XBox version is experiencing. With most of the KOTOR2 team moving on to the NWN2 project, that means less people to do bug fixing. Although patches are a possibility for the PC version, I'd hope that at the very least, whatever issues the XBox is facing will be eliminated for the PC version so that if issues arise for the PC version, it'll only be configuration and compatibility issues which are common among PC games.

God no. One of the reasons I enjoyed melee combat so much more than firearms combat in Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines is because of this. Although you could still fire a weapon in 3rd person, it made targetting harder. Keep it the way it is. Or at the very least, make it so you can toggle between 1st and 3rd person.

Yes, but his wording is EXACTLY like other reviews and early previews that state the PC has amnesia, almost as if he just copy and pasted it.

Even though I'm glad to see a very high score for this game, reviewers tend to lose credibility, even if just a bit, in my eyes when they make statements like the one Volourn quoted, since anyone who has followed this game even semi-closely would know that amnesia isn't used as a plot point.

Enter the conspiracy theorists who will say that Lucasarts gave them instructions to release a buggy XBox version so that consumers would have to buy both XBox and PC copies. XBox in time for Christmas, then PC when everything is "fixed".
