Let the past 'failures' be a guide for the future
sniggy replied to alx1078's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
some people just don't see the CODE BUTTONS above the post field. it is reaaaaaaallly straining to read something like that post. -
how many people are working on this? i can't remember any mod that big- all total conversions i've seen so far suffered greatly from the obvious limitations of hobby-developers. look at the fallout community- there are a lot of dedicated fans out there and thought the fallout editor has been released a while ago, no big additions yet. i think that your project is quite utopic and doubt that we'll ever get to see any of it. work on dialogue and quests alone ist mind-baffling. how will you ever get around to doing the art? or the scripting for that matter? nice speculation, but i (as well as some others) just don't buy it.

i doubt that a jedi might be a bounty hunter, though it shouldn't pose a problem to dark jedi or sith.

may i have a laser stool to go with the whip (WHIP! down boy!)

Questions the the Devs - Take 2
sniggy replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
QUESTION TO THE DEVS: will party members have to cooperate on certain tasks? i'm thinking "lost vikings" here- i have 3 people running around all the time and can place each of them in solo mode. so- will i have to change from one char to the next, for example to open a door mechanism or something? you know, the buttons must be pushed within a certain time period but are too far away from each other to run... that kindda thing. -
you know, what really bugged me was ME trying to talk to him on every friggin planet and on every friggin occasion because i thought that he'd have SOMETHING to talk about... but nooooooooo... i usually left fleabag and headtails on the ship and told them to be quiet... i also programmed hk47 to terminate the meatbags if they ever open their gaps

why not take the halflife 2 engine?
-
its a burning hoop... ...and you'll be whipped while jumping through. also, there will be quicksand on the other side of it.
-
well at some points it seemed like the main character didn't have any personality of his own... which regarding the story fit pretty well, actually.
-
actually, this comes up in a SW book- jedi padawan (cant think of the issue). it's a "laser" whip. but i guess you mean the same thing.

YIPPIEEEEEE!!! yeah, that's fine. ...we could make a poll outta this, though

maybe one way to do that would be to come up with a new system of game development. gamers that are really interested in a game (such as the regular posters on these boards) would be able to generate quests and contribute these into the game. thus, you would know YOUR quest, but not the others. so, it would stay exciting (besides who wouldn't wanna buy a game where one is credited in?) this kind of peer cooperation would have to be supervised of course, yet i believe that a lot of detail and depth can be gained by that. that's one thing i liked about the morrowind mods- there were some that were actually incredibly good. a pity that they weren't a part of the actual game to begin with.

exactly. (WHOOOARR! GHRONK!) shaddup fleabag. (WHRAAAARRRRR!!!)

well, there must be a reason for you signing up here, spore. i can see that you only have 4 posts so far. is there any topic on kotor that you are interested in besides the dev corner? as to your searching map-builders: you might want to check gamers' sites like gamasutra to get support for your idea. you are very likely to be ignored of flamed by us if you post something that is completely off-topic to the rest of us. that being said- welcome to the obsidian forums.

wait... i have a vision: this thread is moving to the general rpg discussion well, since morrowind is highly moddable, it's possible to do all that which we mentioned. there have been quite a good mods for morrowind out there. it was also great fun to work with the construction kit. strange enough, i didn't bother with the NWN toolkit (though i've been waiting for it for a long time). maybe it's because the game itself was disappointing

"no sir... i have not seen you playing with your puppets."

"fetch boy, fetch!" "arf!" (wiggle tail) "good boy!" yeah, it seemed like i was the only one who was actually getting something done in that world... you have to admit that it was a really big wolrd, though. it would have been nice to have a mount to travel faster. dialogue system could have been better and quests could have been more interrelated, with less errand jobs to do. also, bigger quests should have had a better thread to follow on... i spend a lot of time just walking through the world, ending up in some ancient ruins and getting my butt kicked. even as a high-level character, it was dangerous to just walk around in the wild. it would have been nice to have more buyable maps and more specific information on areas in order to not stray off the safe paths. death came very swift in morrowind

the hair could still be longer- it could point upwards for example. since SW is known for strange hairdos it would be ok... -
well, i admit that i only managed staying alive at the 2nd play of the game. bendak kicked my ass over and over again the first time... until i figured out that it's easy to beat him once you're able to stun him with a plasma or concussion grenade. a nice tactic was to just keep running until he runs outta grenades but you're right. a couple of more challenges like bendak throughout the game would be good. also, i don't know whether that was the case, but some opponents (the important ones) should adjust to the player level in order to stay threatening. killing calo was easy, as well as darth bandon and malak. the sith governor however was kindda hard, as well as bendak

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! STOP! STOP! STOP! if anyone in lucasfilm likes the fans, he will create an extra level in one of the games that allows you to shoot, hang and burn this annoying creature!

i dunno about new ones, but it would be great to use old ones during conversation. for example, using fear to intimidate a person... or force choke to get your point across.
