  1. yup, they are. it was supposed to be a joke. oh well... yeah- but they present evil we can't comprehend. now someone cutting someone else into little bits to feed him to other peope- that we can grasp (scale-wise). and that we find evil, disgusting, horrifying. with the genocide thing we're just baffled. you're completely right! all i saw were some buildings going "boom". on the other hand, the game does have a teen rating- so what do you expect. how do you present evil without being too evil? (he destroyed your comic book collection. -nooo! the bastard!) "finally- i have found the cure for rakh- gAAAAAAAHHH!" ironic, eh? or take the guys down below- found their promised land... a bit too late. they might have survived though. they were deep underground, right? yeah- that's exactly what would have set the players off at malak. that's an important point that was missing in kotor. (are the devs listening?). kotor2 should have stuff like that to portray the evil of the main antagonist. the emotional attachment to NPCs is also likely to work. if the sith personally kills a character one has grown accustomed to... that would definetly make me want to gut that dark lord
  2. whahahaha! now that would be something though- guess thats why there were never any small dark lords around. on the other hand- it would make sense: "are you making fun of my height, soldier?" "no, my lord" "then what are ye laughing at?" "nothing, my lord" "nothing, eh? well, i'll give ye nothing" ZZZZZZZZZZTTT! "AAAAIEEEE! my legs, aaargh, my legs..." "heh, now we're about the same size, eh?"
  3. Given what I was doing to each individual 'wave', I'd wager even that would be a lost cause. He sends them all at once, I kill them all at once. ha! you're right about that... force wave was pretty darn powerful in the game. in fact, you could just fill your slots with that power and then watch. maybe force breach should also hinder a force user from using his powers- like its meant to (see nomi sunrider). now that would pose a hard challenge- no more force wave then, eh?
  4. no- that is something that defines the jedi. look into the time before exar kun. the jedi set forth to the caamasi and asked them what to do with those powers. they were advised to use it to do good and so they have for many many centuries. because skywalker saw that the order had indeed made mistakes in the past. he rather liked the idea of the old order- with watchmen in various sectors and jedi masters having own branches of the force, only holding convocations once in a while. it doesn't have to do with neutrality- it's just a matter of organization talk to jolee during the game and you'll see why he isn't neutral. he says of himself that he is no jedi! doing good defines a jedi as doing evil defines a sith because he was no jedi up until the last movie- there he behaved like a jedi would. besides, i am not talking about the movies. this is all expanded universe. read the books and the comics. take a look at the roleplaying material. that's exactly the reason why the order goes down. they're too tied up with the republic. jedi such as dooku and others split with the order for exactly that reason. and just because of this, skywalker did not want to tie too closely with the new republic- even though his sister was one of its heads. that's also the reason why the new order split into two fractions: durron wanted to aid the republic while skywalker wanted to concentrate on the rebuilding of the order. even after the yuuzhan vong invasion, skywalker didn't tie the order to the new galactic alliance. the jedi order should remain independent of other agencies. if you read the "old republic" tales, you'll see that the jedi cry "for the republic" and not "for the force" or something similar. they become the guardians of the republic, not an order that strives for the unifying force. that's the mistake skywalker has realized and does not intend to do again. you are talking about changing a whole culture. who gives you the right to do so? slavery is legal in hutt space which consists of hundreds of planets and trillions of sentients. do you just go there and say "what you do is wrong"? no you don't because it is accepted in their culture. it is not evil. the jedi realize this. same in the roman empire- slavery was legal and widely accepted. treating your slaves and servants badly however was shunned upon in public. the same thing here. there is no emotion... this is one of the most basic facts about jedi. this is -again- what defines jedi. those who do not follow this are force adepts or sith. besides, there are other force traditions besides those of the jedi. the kel dor have monks who are force wielders for example. the witches of dathomir also wield the force. BUT a jedi is exactly like the "friggin people" you have mentioned. so what you should ask the devs for instead is a force adept class.
  5. this is both being worked on
  6. a track that isn't as simple as "go in a straight line" would be nice. you know- curves, slopes, tunnels... that type of thing. hazards should also include some that can't be bumped into but that hinder sight (smoke, waterfalls, fog) swoop upgrades should include plating, upgraded drives, upgraded drive shift and turbo drives. there should be a possibility to buy and sell swoops in addition to being able to modify them. swoops should have different looks.
  7. yeah, i figure so much, too. haven't seen chucky, right? makes sense. i just hope we're not too close to what the devs have in mind. (noooo- they figured it out! change the script! change the script!) yeah- i hoped there'd be some kind of reference to the missing jaw (story-wise). but it was unexplained and didn't seem to bother him much. yup. maybe just sith symbolics? umm. i thought he looked like some kind of supervillain from marvel. i thought he'd start flying and shoot laser beams from his eyes any moment. but you're right. the voice made up for it. send the droids send the soldiers send my apprentice send... aww. evil lord rule number 1: don't send your followers 1-by-1... send them all at once i think we can expect a very twisted mind behind that mask. because evil deeds that are on a small, personal level are easier to grasp then the abstract killing of billions. look at it this way: you see someone you know die in a car accident and that is horrible. you hear of thousands being massacred somewhere in africa and forget about it within hours. it's the comprehensible, small scale evil that works best. killing a planet involves a fleet. killing one person slowly involves just the pleasure of being able to do so. more sinister as it is the person doing it- not some flagship in orbit.
  8. yeah, well- he kindda missed an escaping ship there
  9. You're right Shdy. That would make him worthy of being sold into slavery, Fallout style. aw, quit it arright! it was a typo, dammit!
  10. are there going to be security cameras in facilities? one could hack into a system and use the cam in kotor- but i didn't see any in the game and they didn't pick my team up when i entered. have sec cams would make stealth an important skill as one would have to sneak & hide past them
  11. there are no neutral jedi by definition. they may stay neutral in planetary or cultural affairs- but they are goody good-doers. the "neutral" or "grey" jedi as often stated are those that have strayed aside from the jedi path but have not (yet) fallen to the dark side. if you wanna play a cynic- just act like one throughout the game. lying and working for personal gain is ok- harming others is not. that way, you'll stay about as neutral as it gets.
  12. it'd also be nice if they'd ask more questions on their own so one could define the player character by picking answers
  13. always two there are. a master and an apprentice
  14. that's why skywalker didn't bother putting up a jedi council. too many jedi just screw things up, i guess... "i have a vision" "me too" "i was first" "hey, funny- i had a vision of you having a vision..." "mmm. strange the ways of the force are"
  15. wrong my syntax is. stupid i seem to you? mmm. judge my by grammar you should not.
  16. you're right, i hadn't thought about that. i guess once you had joined up with the sith back then, it was pretty obvious. still, it'd be interesting to know where the title "darth" came from. i can't remember whether it was in any of the books. you don't know that- could be an alien. what i find disturbing is exactly the fact that this person looks like it came from a venice mask festival. the porcelain mask is very prominant- everything else is completely dark. i can imagine that the force "it" likes to use most might be insanity or death field. all i'm saying is: this sith should be portrayed uniquely. there was nothing mysterious or sinister about malak. he was simply a jedi turned sith lord. he hasn't done anything terrifying in kotor.
  17. he looks like he has flatulance... evil flatulance... no, you're right. looks evil. palpatine only looks evil in the prequels though
  18. well, canderous had reached level 20 as well- i don't think he'll be playable. maybe we'll see him as a bar-owner, babbling about old war stories (there i was- fighting that planet all on my own...)
  19. there are actually 99 feats in kotor. how many more do we need? battle meditation is one of them. maybe force dodge as well (hmm... where did i hear that?) weeeeelll.... i'd like to see dark power, lightsaber form feats, rage, trader / merchant trader, lightsaber form feats, malevolent, lightsaber form feats, lightsaber form feats... did i mention lightsaber form feats?
  20. there are a lot of games in the WIZARDS galactic campaign guide- i'm also on favour of the cheating thing using force powers. however, there's an important thing to that: SPECTATORS! we had them at swoop races. why not at pazaak? they could notice if someone is cheating- so the dark lord wont be able to cheat all the time as some spectators might notice. also, spectators might tell others about the skill of the character "so... i hear you're the one who took Seth Kast that droid away? think you can beat me?" - Gal Kalen, crime lord or something like: "the magnificient master gerba says that he has heard reports of your puny yet remotely fascinating skill at the pazaak game. he demands you to undertake the futile attempt to compete against his brilliant mind." - P3AD, hutt translator droid
  21. darth vader supposedly fell into molten rock / metal and lost his legs, an arm, lots of skin and his lung functions to this terrible accident. he couldn't breathe without his armor and the fear of suffocation was always with him- hence his obsession with choking inferiors to death. malak had "lost his face" and could not be redeemed because of that. what i find strange though is that he's being both referred to as darth malak and malak in the game. if malak was his name- why "darth" malak. usually a sith lord takes on a different name. same (naming) goes for revan by the way anyway, if we look at the charismatic figure vader was, we can only hope that kotor2 will feature a similar charismatic, sinister and tragic figure. maybe someone who was disfigured in some way. or an alien with a mind too dark to comprehend- though the pic hints at a humanoid figure who might be perfectly healthy (except for the scorched look of the skin) the picture of the sith in kotor2 suggests that we're going to face someone who has fully embraced the dark side. i wouldn't dream of "redeeming" whoever that is. malak just looked angry (probably because he was tired of eating soup all the time) but this person looks like evil personified i just hope that we hear of the deeds of that person and see some reaaaly evil ones in action. (vader was cool even though he hasn't wiped any planets in the movie. he just choked people for fun) but look at the eyes of this person. they look dead. i can't imagine this one saying "do not disappoint me again". this person will not give second chances. (s)he will twist your mind... fill your heart with fear... and slowly drive you insane while all the time standing there... motionless... silent... draining your life away, leaving only an empty, scorched shell
  22. i don't need any meatbags- hk47 will do
  23. a post! at last! i am not alone...
  24. i've always wanted to make a holodeck game
  25. theres a reference to force lances in one of the tales of the jedi books. seems a long, archaic thing with a cord attached to a power pack on the back of the wielder. the hilt is a little longer than a meter, the blade extends a couple of meters away. used during a siege or mass combat (just don't get close)
