KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Wouldn't it be easier to just do a new game? I mean, look at KotOR2 - it uses the same graphics and probably even much of the same code (as far as I can tell) as the original... It almost looks like an expansion to me. Not that that's surprising considering how little time Obsidian had to make to it.

Who Kriea actually could be?
Who says she's happy with it? I actually think that is precisely the "betrayal of the heart" that she talks about as a condition for becoming Darth Traya. Either that or the "betrayal of the heart" lies with Yusanis leaving her, when she turned to the dark side with their child. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Following that line of thought... is it possible that Kreia had Revan kill Yusanis out of revenge? I mean, if she was his teacher, I would have to wonder if she directed at least some of his actions... and if Revan took out Yusanis for breaking Kreia's heart. I mean, if Revan cared for Kreia as much as she seems to for him/her... ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess we can't rule it out, though I doubt it myself. IIRC, the story is described more like Revan was trying to destablize the Echani worlds during his war on the republic, and it wasn't until Yusanis tried intervene and stop Revan that Revan even acknowledged him. Once that happened, goodbye Yusanis...

The Battlestar Galactica Thread
I agree with you concerning Apollo and that spoiler space. He will probably take the Pegasus back to Caprica in the next episode for the sake of Starbuck, who goes and gets her boyfriend back apparently. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I completely disagree with you guys regarding Apollo But I must say that I really like this show. I mean, just listen to Adama in one of the first episodes, when Roslyn asks him to bring in the military to act as police in the fleet... Adama: "There is a reason why you separate the military and the police. One fights the enemy of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tends to become the people..." I was totally blown away by that - I became an Adama fan in a second. That's great writing. The writers on this show are great - they were crazy not to keep them on Star Trek, where Ron Moore and David Weddle were major writers on DS9, which was also a very well-written show. The people running Trek should have their heads examined...

KOTOR2's My Favorite Game, but I hate one thing...
That's a very good way of putting it. So killing the Force would do more than seperate the Jedi and Sith from their powers. Everyone would die. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We don't actually know, but given the relationship between life and the force, that does seem to be one possibility. Perhaps even a likely one. Yes, that's how I see her too. She's DS because she wants the force to die, the consequences for everyone else be damned. Basically Kreia is the Star Wars version of Ahab, at war with god, here represented by the force in this case.

Who Kriea actually could be?
I know, but how important is really whether she had the child before or after? I mean, the way Bastila describes in K1, the tradition of cutting the connections to the family has mostly something to do with the emotions between family being so strong that it becomes very difficult for a jedi to see past them. Yet they trained Nomi anyway. Consider if Nomi had fought HK-47. HK tells the Exile to attack the jedi's friends, so HK attacks Vima instead of Nomi. How would Nomi react to that? Would she be susceptible to fall the dark side as a consequence? I think she would - the mother-child relationship is about as strong a bond as I can imagine and seems to be virtually impossible for a mother to see beyond. Whether it is Nomi's "fault" or not is just a secondary consideration next to that, yet the masters still didn't hesitate to train Nomi...

Fallout 3 : Ideas and suggestions
Or they could do "Fallout Europe". That could be pretty fun and ingored by the die-hard fans of the original games... Nah, what am I saying - Europe could never be hit by a nuclear holocaust

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
I don't think they are allowed legally to demand money for their work, even if they deserve it, since the game is not their property. And I doubt even Nihilus and Vader put together can stand up to the LA legal department... Note to the LA legal department - the above is a joke and nothing more. I have no desire to offend or otherwise tarnish the reputation of the legal department. We all know and appreciate all the good work done by the department

Who Kriea actually could be?
Yeah, it sounds like an excuse or a cover-up by Kreia, when you know that Jolee had a wife and wasn't kicked, and Nomi had child and was still considered one of the most admired and worthy jedi of her time, which is not long before KotOR...

Extracting goodness
That's precisely the main difference and disadvantage of CRPGs, yes. That won't change until home computers have neural networks that can think... Well, since I find it hard to disagree with your theory, it becomes difficult to find arguments that put it to the test. The broader scale of PnP RPG rules compared to rules in most CRPGs would seem to support your theory, since in PnP, you have to have rules that allow for just about any possibility in the game that the GM might want to consider. Therefore the rules are broad and extensive. In a CRPG, the programmers know that the player can take only those options they have already thought of, since no others can be possible. Therefore they can limit the rules to only what they know they'll need.

ok a few questions bout gray characters
Except the jedi order casts out those who are not deemed good, while the Sith kill or exile those who do not meet their standards of ruthlessness and ambition for power (=evil)... So it comes to the same thing.

Fallout 3 : Ideas and suggestions
Yeah, they do, but there was definitely something up with Sulik that force me to let him use only melee weapons or burst weapons like the SMG...
-
KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Well, the cortosis weave of a vibroblade allows you to effectively use the weapon even against a lightsaber... But I admit that I don't know what that means - it was just technobabble to me, when I first heard it in K1 :D

Fallout 3 : Ideas and suggestions
I agree with all of that. One thing that was irritating in the old FO games was that you could only give certain weapons to certain group members, because they didn't all have code for the graphics of certain weapons. Since I'm certain FO3 will be 3d, that won't be a problem anymore. And we do need vehicles! I'd love being able to play a sequence where you drive a bus while being hunted and shot at by bikers, though that does sound rather familiar already somehow... :D Aww, but being a total n00b is what made the FO games interesting - you learned about, discovered, and experienced the game world along with your main character. But it could be stretching it a third time around, I'll admit.

No Fallout 3 at E3 2006
Yeah, I've given up on that too

No Fallout 3 at E3 2006
Yes there was. Someone else (EA I think) had the rights. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, would it have been "Wasteland II" even if they had had the rights? I doubt that myself, since they are very different games, but... Awww... I would actually have preferred it to be GURPS... [Ducks for cover!!]

No Fallout 3 at E3 2006
Actually, I'd sort of prefer the original authors to do FO3 as well, but I'm not going to rule out entirely that Bethesda could make a decent FO3... Speaking of the original authors, would that be Bioware or Obsidian or someone else today? I think that much is certain - even if FO3 is brilliant...
-
No Fallout 3 at E3 2006
Well, you seem pretty optimistic. Who said *every* fan has to be pleased? If it's a good game then people will buy it: if I like it I'll buy it; others won't. Perhaps the most interesting comment you make is the reference (unconscious?) to "The Next Generation",

No Fallout 3 at E3 2006
Lord of the Rings Third Age Lord of the Rings Tactics EA publish a lot of stuff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aren't those strategy games?

No fight in RPG
My personal GM motto is: "Life itself is rarely fair, so why would you expect more from me?" :D Well, maybe it's not so fun as I tought... Certainly my players didn't laugh much... "

What was the rating on KotOR2? As a matter of fact, what was it for KotOR1?

Feargus video interview
Even more defining of RPG's by you. No "I thinks" here... just cold hard facts <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "I think" this is precisely why "I think" I have begun to put "I think" in front of every "I think" statement "I think" I make in this topic - "I think" people seem incapable of grasping the "I think" relatively simple concept that "I think" when I make a statement, "I think" I can only do so on the basis of "I think" my own personal opinions. "I think" That is is considered obvious in most intelligent discussion "I think" I participate in, but "I think" apparently not here "I think" for some reason... Calling "my definition". How odd you hate me for saying the exact same thing... and once again saying what defines a RPG (no "I think") <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "I think" this is yet another personal remark "I think" and would have been taken as such by "I think" most other people "I think" on most other boards. My definition further defined.... eh, not... " Seems like randomness grabbed you here... and the further convo became Very confusing. And you once again define RPG without "I think". Just cold hard facts (well; your facts) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "I think" this is already answered as far as I can tell, but "I think" it's reasonable for me to argue that "I think" I don't have to agree that "I think" randomness is a prerequisite for a game being an RPG.

In What aspect is Kotor I better than II?
I think Nihilus is simply drawn to the most powerful jedi in order to "feed" on them... Remember what Kreia said... Kreia: "It is a technique that is almost as old as the Sith themselves... it is a means of severing connections between life, the Force, and feeding upon the death it causes. It cannot be taught... it can only be gained through instinct, through experiencing its effects, first-hand." {Quietly}"Yes. And he fed upon its destruction - it will sustain him, for a time.Because it is not something that can ever truly be controlled... and it leaves nothing to conquer in its wake. And it rules him, not the other way around. It has its own will, its own instincts." {Chiding}"Power? Do you think so?{Shakes head}You would be wrong. There is no strength in the hunger he possesses... and the will behind his power is a primal thing. And it devours him as he devours others - his mere presence kills all around him, slowly, feeding him. He is already dead, it is simply a question of how many he kills before he falls."

Do you prefer the light side or the dark side?
Yeah... Though I would have welcomed the chance to tell the jedi council just what I think of their deception and manipulation... PS: Been meaning to ask for while now, where did you get that avatar? It looks awfully familiar somehow... :D
