Wishing cancer on someone over a game is evil and shows one has no honour. Those who do deserve to get cancer.

The problem with rape reporting in modern countries is that much of it isn't actually rape. A 17 year having consentual sex with his 15 year old girlfriend can be considered rape. Slapping someone's butt can be considered rape. Two drunks having sex, one of them regretting it the next morning and reporting it also can be considered rape. these kind of things spit in the face of true rape victims. Plus, as some of the posts above suggests, men can't be rape only women. Disgusting. A teen taking a nude selfie sends it to their boyfriend/girlfriend who shares with friends is considered rape. WTH!?! Now, back on actual topic, potions can add to the game. Taking away potions only hurts strategy/tatics. It doesn't help. Having too many potions makes the tatics/strategy less meaningful which is also bad. 'Nough said.

"Drinking potions and casting spells in order to beat the almighty roll machine does not a game make. Or maybe its does not a fun game makes. It isn't tactics definitely. " Plenty of fun games have been incldued these, and they add to the charm. Again, though, I'm all for LIMITED potions. None of this 99 potions in my backpckc rap. "The DnD and usual CRPG approach lead to ridiculous situation that a typical lvl 20 character can murder an army of level 1 characters. As you climb upwards in levels the world grows boring as you're basically above everything and everyone. I always thought it was a careless way to design character progression. I think the players would respond well to a game that doesn't pander to them so much. They certainly did with Dark Souls and that's a lot more sadistic than Talislanta." That's silly. DnD doesn't pander to the player unless the DM (or game developer) panders to the player. A battle is challenging or not challenging based on palcement not based on how much hit points you have. I do agree that, on the surface, a character being able to mass murder many low level character is silly... whcih is why DnD has rules to deal with mass attacks against single characters so 'mob rules' can rule. "PC's improve their skills but can never improve their hit points by normal means." That can work and be fun. As an alternative. But, it isn't better or worse. "That ensures that the combat is deadly and adds a degree of realism. Ferocious monsters stay that way because you know your chances of victory against them are slim. You have to be really clever to get the best of them and stack the situation in your favor through good role playing." L0L Beat the monster by 'good role-playing'. That doesn't even make sense. So, if I role-play the perfect elven archer I'll beat the dragon no matter what? Are you kidding me? Dragons aren't beat by role-playing. Theya re beat in combat (or trickery et al in dialogue) but you can be the best role-player and steal lose. LMAO Besdies, I wouldn't want to have the player face the same monster over and over again and still fear death. That's silly. if you faced and defeated 5 hydras the 6th simply shoudln't be as scary or tough. That's illogical.

Anyone who hates 'pre buffing' hates rpgs, combat, strategy, and tatics. Yeah, I said it. Potions are awesome as long as they aren't in ridiculous amounts. Regenertaing health (barring super duper magical reasons or related to troll like abilities as the exception) is the bane of all.

That's what you get when you bench a HOFer, Anaheim!! Who do you blame for this loss, jerks!?!

How does PoE innovate?
Volourn replied to Zeckul's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Balance is a hype word that is meaningless and never leads to good stuff. Again, if a theif can fight as good or better than a fighter why have a fighter at all? Just be a rogue and get all the things that makes a rogue a rogue and go kick the fighetrs' butt. It's like making the fighter great at fighting AND give him magic to equal the mage. Then, I'd have to ask, why bother being a mage? Just be the fighter. IT. DOES. NOT. COMPUTE. A fighter fights. A rogue rogues. A mage mages. That's the only 'balance' that should be acceptable. A rogue has never been 'less fun' than a fighter just because it can't beat a fighter in a fight or outmagic the mage. LMAO -
"Two of us tossed flammable oil on those pesky kegs, and then we needed to take out a shaman and lots of archers fast. Ouch! Hopefully PE will be just as challenging. I mean, NWN2 at normal difficulty was a cake walk this early on. :)" IWD2 was easy. And, outside of a couple of fights and, the fights were horribly boring, unoriginal, and non entertaining. IWD was a fantastic game but outside of the character system IWD2 was a huge fail. It is the ONLY IE game I could not finish because of how awful it was.

"Isn't Leliana meant to be about 40 by now?" And, some 40 year olds are pretty hot. Your pont? (not that i think Leliana in the pic is all that. Maybe a 7 or so)>

Death & Dying
Volourn replied to constantine's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
"The only thing i hope is that every one that plays in expert mode plays also with ironman mode. So they dont do any reloding after every death shananigans." Nah. Ironman mode is too risky when it comes to the PC. Wouldn't trust one with a ten foot pole. if I could just the game to be 100% completely unbuggy and never crash, I'd be for it, but nope. Not gonna happen. Hardcore is cool. Ironman mode is cheating and liable to be abused by the game to screw you over in some lame way. AS for resting in dungeons... most dungeons no ala that mage dungeon described above or a crypt where a mummy keeps raising the dead. However, some dungeons it makes sense to be able tor est under certain conditions. ie. Undermountain - a huge place where you can find (relatively speaking) 'safe' corners to rest in. Find a place, barricade yourself in, and you should be fine MOSTLY. But, yeah, should not be over done. Resting everywhere anytime with no consequences is lame. And, no being interrupted by 3 wimpy skeles is not punishment just annoying. A better way to do that. Say you rest in that mage's abode. He doesn't attack you, but he summons all his remaining minions , sourrunds you (r blocks your one exist) and tells you to surrender or die. Instead of just killing you outright (can be boring) he can demand a service from you and geas you to make sure you follow through. THAT would be punishment for resting in a dumb place at a dumb time without a lame game over and an interesting side qeust resolution. -
Yeah, looks like that is no contest. And, it's not like they are close games. LMAO
-
Exactly. They're using the very lame NWN2-JE-KOTOR-ME nonsense.Good thing theya re giving the option of death = death. As that's the way it should be. "75% chance of success on the roll." Which means 1 in 4 would fail. That should you that the roll isn't to be taken lightly. And, then you lose 1 con so if you die again your chances of failure increases. Like I said, it's a useful powerful spell but you don't want to spam it and if your party is constantly dying that you need a raise dead spell so much perhaps you should take a closer look to the party's play style or the DM. L0L I remember having entire quests based around the raise dead spell. Good times.

"but I think most players will hate the fact that they can't kill an ogre, take his sword and equip it on their halfling PC." O RLY? Who are these 'most players' as this is the first complaint of its sepcific type? I've heard nobody complain ever that they couldn't weild an ogre's sword 9espciially sicne typical fantasy ogres don't use swords lol <>).

"I for one am just tired of the standard: Good response Neutral reponse Evil response" Actually, more than a few games don't have just those 3 options. Some have more some have less. Some had varities. You need to play more games. -
"Period of calm == time until melee enemies close into attack range." Should be no such thing with spellcasting and missle weapons. I dunno about the idea of no buff spells that can be cast pre battle. It limits far range planning. Do you use the spell slots/points for buffing and hope your warriors can win the day or do you use your spell slots/points for pure offense combat spells. I think there should be a mix of short term and long terms buffs. But, oh well, 'tis is life.

The NPCs of PoE and their classes
Volourn replied to Mannock's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
"If there's one thing I trust obsidian to do, it's to make the companions a non-issue." NWN2. That said, they've been clear that all companions are optional which makes sense since you can throw them out in the trash in exchange for player created chaarcters anyways. I personally prefer knowing little or nothing about potential companions pre playing since that ruins discovering the game. Not a game breaker though. tThat name change on that E guy is awful. I can't wait to bang the dwarf chick though. <> -
Is Obsidian going to make Dungeon Siege 4?
Volourn replied to Malignacious's topic in Obsidian General
DS3 is horrible. Obsidian is better off making sequels to their actual good games. Heck, I'd rather a sequel to SP than DS. DS3 was a failure in every way. When the publisher flatly states it failed it means it failed. I can't beleive the same comopany responsible for quality titles like NWN2, MOTB, KOTOR2, and SP aslo made a title like DS3. Or just as bad as AP. LONG LIVE PE! DEATH TO DS!! -

That's a great magic item idea! -
"Concession accepted. Have a nice day." Oh, you gave up? AS In haven't. You do realize that the PHB is not the only resource right? It's a book that's what? 300 or so pages long? It can't go into every detail but if you read it as well other soruces I am right you are wrong. DnD is not a broken system and it sure isn't a 'horribly broken' system. And, claiming other books be it DMG or other - are 'optional' is irrelvant since, officially, per DnD rules written in the PHB ALL rules are optional PHB included. So, nice try. But, hey, tell me if raise dead is 'overpowered' when your priest dies and nobody else can cast the spell or your 8con wizard dies and fails the RS roll or even worse your 18con dwarf with 99% RS ends up getting a bad roll. HAHAHA! Or tell me how raise dead is broken when your low level party asks the only cleric capable of casting the spell in the area to do so and he a) refuses and laughs, b) tries to but god makes spell fizzle, or c) he tells you that in return you have to do something for him and it's something your 'goodly' heroes find distasteful. Do you even know how to play DND and know the rules? You'd think since you have the manual you would but you don't. perhaps, you've spent too muich time playing DND CRPGs like BG that treat raise dead as just another random spell which it isn't or heck doesn't even enforce alignment/godly wishes on its priests as it should. IIRC, You can read in the DMG about 'purchasing spells' and see what it says about various spells. "How does the video game industry still exist, then?" It give potential customers what they want. That's why. It exists because there is a market for video games. "Or [government of your choice]?" One dislking a gov't doesn't mean it's broken. Also, one's 'broken' gov't is another one's 'awesome gov't. I dislike Russia's gov't but it seems to be 'working'. *shrug* Plus, being an 'evil' gov't doesn't mean you are 'broken'.
-
No. No. No. Do your own research. IMPORTANT NEWSFLASH: All priest spells are gifts from your god. They can tell you no anytime they want. I don't have any 2e books anymore. Have a 3e book though. But, read up on clerics, religions, and their relationship with the gods 9again, in campaigns that have gods). As for 3e, that's b/c 3e was made by people who want to make things easier and that continue to an even worse fashion in 4e. System shock/ressurection survival were awesome. It also helped deal with things that caused mass damage and the like. Again, let me even more clear, raise dead is not a mamby spell that can be cast willy nilly for giggles. It's not available in every village or town. It's not just sued on everyone. It needs god approval. It needs character approval (many players will refuse raise dead to avoid the con loss and just make a new one ). It doesn't always work and when it does work it means that next time it'll work even less likely. And, this is permenant con loss. There is no way to 'fiix' it.
