I love Candlekeep... but!
BG1's starter stuff did get old ... as it does in many games. I think if you want the rewards/extra boost at the start, you should still have to do those things. So my feeling is, as long as it's similar in P.E., where you can shorten the time by skipping all the little bits, I'm fine. Don't need a skip+get rewards option, imo.

What are you playing now
Start of previous thread End of previous thread I wish I had that kind of willpower when dealing with any game. I think it's more that he gets that's frustrated and gives up. Just had a vending machine pop up with an orange shield. Too bad it was a low level one...

Zooming
I'm fine with/rather like a static camera with isometric. But being able to zoom in a bit so we can vanity-cam our characters or get fun screenshots etc. is always a bonus.

What you did today
I could never declaw a cat, I'd feel too horrible. I just keep them trim with a clipper. Works well enough...when I remember to actually do it, at least. **ponders the mild claw marks on her abdomen...**

Vidgy Game Soundtracks
Currently often listening to the Borderlands 2 tracks. Either in-game or outside of it. Past ones I've enjoyed were Majesty, Nox, KOtor2, Stronghold series...but almost all games that I've played a lot, I'll end up with at least one or two songs off their track that I love. eg, I can't remember most of the music from Dungeon Siege1, but I'll always remember that Main Theme.

So, how does everyone like that new logo?
LadyCrimson replied to HungryHungryOuroboros's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I like the new logo, except for one thing: I preferred it when the word lettering had less contrast to the rest of the logo. eg, less bright yellow.

Update #15: PayPal, Polish and Russian support, $2.5M/$2.6M stretch goals, new reddit Q&A, classes, and art!
For some reason, this put the image of Vader wearing a purple stars/moons/clovers robe and hat into my head. Thanks a lot.

What you did today
What I see about 50 times a day, or, why I have holes in all my t-shirts now: ** **On hind legs, his head is about 2' 7" high...include his paws and he can reach 3 feet. I'm slightly less than 5 feet tall.

RockPaperShotgun Interview with Avellone + New Companion Concept Aloth
If it was a fish...maybe he was interrupted during dinner. That doesn't really fit my personal idea of a Thief. Unless he's a Mage (then keeper of secrets would make sense to me regardless). I'm still not entirely sure, based on images alone.

Man I hope the companions have more independent thought than the other games
Same feeling here. I like morale/reputation check systems, however ... where things you do (or don't do) may accrue points for companions and if they get too high companions start complaining and/or leaving. I'd rather they stick with stuff like that vs. having a potential of them running away every battle.

disappointed (torment fan perspective)
I'm not sure I'd agree that those games were "Fail" - or that the "rushed game" syndrome is either exclusive of Obsidian or entirely the fault of Obsidian itself. There's publisher side of the process for those games to factor in as well. Which to me seems to be the main point of this Kickstarter. More freedom.

Souls are like cheese - everything is better with them
I don't mind fighter abilities/skills that enhance their melee and/or melee CC abilities, like knockback or short bursts of increased attack speed and such. And yes, it does sort of remind of something like The Force, where not everyone could/would utilize it, and those who can have varying degrees of skill with it. So I guess I like (or at least don't mind) a thin layer of cheese ... just not too thick. Except on a pizza.

Thief faction or just a general "Key? I don't need no key" t-shirt?

I was thinking it was a spell scroll in his other hand.

Fog of War
I like fog of war, but like others said, I like it when the visible area is fairly large. Not huge, but not a tiny circle. The other way that doesn't bother me is to have the terrain/buildings revealed but not the people/monsters, and some areas of interest might remain hidden. So it's not total fog of war but a partial. You still wouldn't know where the dangers/monsters were going to pop up, but you can pretend that you have a map of the town/main roads and thus have a general idea of where to go. Either way works for me.

My fwiw kickstarter economic analysis regarding the rift between the traditionalists and evolutionists
I haven't even played any of the DA series. Or really any of the "newer" fantasy story-RPG's of the past 3-4 years.*** But I also haven't played every single old game that P.E. referenced in their Kickstarter video. I simply like certain "flavors" of games, across all genres. In terms of RPG's, all I ask is for an engaging RPG with fun exploration/options and characters that I actually give a hoot about - and Obsidian has, so far, given me that, and I trust them to do it again....regardless of whether or not they stick strictly to "old skool" or try to integrate some newer and/or original concepts within some older style workings. I guess I don't get obsessed with this or that mechanic ... which is not to say I don't have personal preferences ... it's just that I'm more interested in how the final game feels as a whole rather than what each individual piece may be. If that makes any sense. ***I am, however, still waiting for that spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper1 that doesn't suck.

RockPaperShotgun Interview with Avellone + New Companion Concept Aloth
Interesting concept art. I wonder what spell that would be ... simple summoning or something more akin to "Venomous Grenade of Soul Fire?"

Bethesda opens Battlecry Studios
There already is an ES MMO announced .....for some reason I'd thought that had been cancelled. Maybe I had a dream during a nap one afternoon. Ah well.

Bethesda opens Battlecry Studios
I'm going to hope it's not an ES MMO ... more non-fantasy MMO settings would be more potentially interesting to me ... leave ES as a single-player series.
