I'm not sure anyone has this knowledge yet, since it likely would require having completed every single possible thing in the game to do. That said...it's probably doubtful you'd miss anything vital, since voice acting was never the main focus for relating story/lore etc. ...just don't quote me on that.

The key you get for the digital copy is the only key you should get/will get. The physical copy is a DRM free physical copy (not attached to Steam), and that counts as your 2nd game copy. If you were to get a 2nd Steam key, that would count as a 3rd copy.... Edit: the mixup here is that I think the mail was referencing people who only had physical copy packages, which were being delayed shipping until after the release date...the so the digital key was for them so they could play on release day.

Laptop Running HOT
LadyCrimson replied to Jayngo's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I'm an Nvidia person, so I'm not sure how Radeon card maker does it. I have the feeling they have pre-set profiles gained via updated Catalyst driver packages and if you wanted more control over or to make your own (like nvidia can do) a 3rd party program like RadeonPro might be required. I'm not sure on that tho...maybe someone else has better knowledge. There's nothing like the typical "ini" file that I've noticed in the game directories...nor XML or .json file like some Unity games I've played have, so unfortunately I have no idea which files can be easily opened/edited manually, if any. -
Laptop Running HOT
LadyCrimson replied to Jayngo's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Just to say, if a desktop PC is not liquid cooled (just fans) and ambient room temp is 75F+, today's gpu's running some games at 70-75C (at 1080 resolution at least) is actually quite "normal." The GPU can take it/nothing to worry about. Not all games will run at those temps of course. But some may. No clue what temp ranges are normal for various tiers of laptops, tho. -
Save Game Location?
LadyCrimson replied to Dekeon's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You could create a manual save of your current game, which will remain, before starting a new character. But at any rate... Windows Location: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity\Saves Mac Location: \Library\Application Support\Pillars of Eternity\Saved Games Linux Location: \Home\.local\share\PillarsOfEternity\SavedGames -
I usually force-cap my fps to 60 because super high fps tends to make this GPU heat up more than I personally prefer and I've always hated vsync so refuse to use that method... if I don't cap it, PoE's probably an average of around 75fps (it was actually much higher during beta, but...). *cries at her non-geeky fps*

The retail-outlet boxed copies are physical copies (a disc), far as I know. It's just that they use Steam as the DRM, so even tho it's a physical disc, you still need to use/have the Steam client installed to run the game. DRM-free physical discs were a certain level tier Kickstarter reward. So yes, if you wanted a DRM free disc of the game, those are not available retail.

I'd suspect the green pages are there as filler, because the front cover (in a reader) would otherwise cause (in a 2-page view layout), the cover to be thought of as connected to what is supposed to be page 3, tossing the rest out of even-odd order. The green pages are still there in my viewer, but the 2-page layout (vs. single-page the viewer may default to) puts it all properly in order.

Laptop Running HOT
LadyCrimson replied to Jayngo's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Did you try using the console to disable AA? At least that way you can see if that's the heating cause. Hit the ` key (US keyboards) to open console and type msaa 0 then press Enter. This does not hold between area transitions, however, so has to be repeated each time you do that in the game. Alternatively, you can probably force it off via your GPU control panel by creating a GPU profile for PoE that tells the GPU to ignore application settings and keep AA off. -
Sound Bug
LadyCrimson replied to Greenhill's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
What sound is repeating? There were some reports of endless sound looping, where turning off the tutorials helped some. -
So you can only create 8, hard total? So if you have 8 hanging around in your Stronghold (not with you), you still can't create more? That's interesting, if so. Not that I'd expect an ability to create infinite player-made companions or something, but since you can have 5 in your party (them plus you) I might have liked 10 at least (two full "parties" worth).

Did the quotes (on existing posts) on the forum break for anyone else? The outline boxes are gone.

Dialogue Sound issue glitch
LadyCrimson replied to Niranloh's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
There's actually been reports of this issue ... someone towards the end of the below thread figured out that for the Steam version at least, it can be/may be related to network/router issues, and the developers were able to reproduce that. Might want to check that out. May not be the cause for everyone, however. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/71857-game-constant-freezes-and-voice-delay/page-8 -
Same from me. I was just thinking the other day about how I hadn't seen some members around for a while, too. Today I played a little PoE while half-living on the forums doing forum-y things. Think I need a short break now. Then more PoE later. Maybe my beef jerky will arrive this afternoon too. Too much fun.

Durance insane stats
LadyCrimson replied to Sidushi's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
lol...dem stats. I'd definitely say that's a glitch. Did you try exiting/reloading, or reloading a save from before you took him into the party just to test if it happens consistently etc? -
UI needs some serious work.
LadyCrimson replied to SFJake's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
4:3 scale? That's somewhat unusual these days (on gaming forums anyway). I haven't had any of these issues either, although I did turn down the font scaling a bit because the text felt too large (1080 resolution). Screenshots would definitely be helpful. -
I'm under 5' tall, so for me it's more that my knees get cranky without purposely lowering a desk or using a stepstool (feet don't reach the floor in a standard desk-height deskchair....). Knee-arthritis hasn't improved that either. I have tall armrests and don't get hand/arm issues from desks, it's back/neck. I tend to slouch too much.

I just tested it and the in-game Gamma settings do not seem to alter the map brightness at all. Only the actual gameplay area brightens. If you have a GPU control panel or monitor where you can adjust desktop brightness/gamma settings through those, that might help a bit. Not an ideal solution, I know.
