  1. Yes, thanks. I'm normally (voluntarily) pretty "friendless", haha, but occasionally I may accept. Then it occurred to me that I didn't even know if it did anything if I was all "private" anyway, so....
  2. The name is just an inside-reference to BG1's Minsc's tiny companion and what the big galoot Minsc believed him to be.
  3. Hey all you Steam guru's ... just a quick question. If all your profile stuff is set to "Private" and you accept a friend request, can they still at least send you a PM? I assume one has to be "friends" for the messaging?
  4. ...when I was tempted to get the $150 Borderlands 2 Edition, it was because there was that really cool physical "loot chest" thingie. I wanted that chest. But not enough to actually get it. Last time I got a CE of any sort was probably BG2, actually. I can't remember. It had a map and maybe some other little thing. That was pretty much the time that I decided I wasn't going to generally be into CE's.
  5. I am now picturing Hurlshot scrunched up in a tiny closest crowded with hockey gear, with towels butted against the bottom of the door/s to hide the laptop glow.
  6. I think the biggest complaint is the Royal isn't really substantially different than the Champion (plus can't upgrade to it/later announcement, as mentioned). Which I think is a valid complaint in this case. I'd guess it's an option put out to try to grab anyone who hasn't already purchased. Don't really see it as a smooth move tho (vs. having announced them all at once), even if doesn't affect me personally. But on the other hand, if one did buy the Champion already and the Royal bonuses aren't anything to get excited about, then eh...I'd just stick with that (or the regular) and not worry about it. I guess there are always those who are completionists however and yeah kinda sucks for them.
  7. Problem with waking up at 4am is you're sitting around twiddling thumbs, then start browsing Steam. Bought Ostrich Island, which is ... I don't know what it is. A joke/explore/puzzle game? Play as an ostrich, complete islands, find all the eggs and bonus items (by sticking your head in the sand, apparently), get high scores? Anyway, it's cute and funny (and $7-8 at the moment) and might be good for kids. I got bored after about 25 minutes, however. Also went for Eternal Dark, which is The Long Dark look-alike EA that popped up. It's very crude graphically and so far it seems like you mostly ride around in your sled through same-y looking snow/trees, looking for food and gear in broken down shacks. Kill animals, feed dogs. That's about it. The dogs are cool to have and add some management but not much else. I was amused when a pig spawned and attacked my resting sled dogs. Rabid pig! If the creator truly develops it more, could be ok, but certainly nothing like The Long Dark and just about zero polish right now. It is, however, very low pressure, outside of starving to death.
  8. I can relate, although for me it's been a little longer. My waning gaming interest in general may have something to do with it...less concerned about some stuff, so I put up with more stuff. I still don't love Steam, but they can be terribly convienent. I just see them as ... not as terrible as they used to be. The DRM/their method of such never really bothered me too much, it's other things.
  9. Well since we're all giving opinions of the Codex ... I've never registered but I have lurked around time to time. They have some good threads/convos and I've seen some good/intelligent members, like anyplace else. But while my skin is fairly thick, it doesn't mean the general "atmosphere" or accepted style/s that I tend to see displayed there is something I personally enjoy/respect/find endlessly entertaining, so I have no desire to dive-in on a regular basis. Even just lurking there for an extended period makes me feel somehow a bit unwashed. Not worth my time, for me...not a personal fit. I can find game news/opinions elsewhere.
  10. I can hear the "ding" of that temporary disappoint from way over here. Hope the Asian fusion is equally delicious for you...never know!
  11. One of them is apparently already missing a finger, so even harder for him. My brain goes "wow, that's a crazy amazing physical feat, fantastic" while my vertigo goes "holy bleepbleep are you nuts why in the world etc. "
  12. Ok, unless the other tiers below are sorta "attached" to mine, I think I just get two copies. The digital one + boxed physical. Totally forgot about the boxed copy, haha, I'm such a goof. At the time I largely was just "take my money!" ... wasn't thinking about rewards much.
  13. I keep forgetting about that backer portal site. Does this mean, if I get lots of copies, that I can give some away? Or are they all tied to me. I have no idea what I'd need more than a couple copies for, myself. I tried that once...there was some reason I didn't like it, but I can't recall what it was now.
  14. Yeah...to be clear what I said in my above post re: copying game directory before letting Steam patch it doesn't mean you can play it without Steam. Only that if you wanted, you can then copy that "patch version" of the game back into the Steamapps directory.
  15. I can't even remember if I get multiple copies of the game. Was that one of the rewards? Not that it matters for me much. @Ieo - not sure about Steam's installer, but far as I know, patches aren't separated from the Steam installed game, so no. Only way I've found to separate patched versions is to copy game's full install directory elsewhere, every single time, before you go "online mode" to get a patch. Which of course = a big pain in the butt and disc space if there's a lot of patches. If you want to move Steam or install a new O/S etc you can circumvent repeated, wholesale downloading of all your Steam games by copying the Steam games directory (steamapps) elsewhere first, but then after copying it back it needs to update/verify files on Steam and each game. At least, that's what happened when I did it a few years ago.... https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129
  16. I think most other teen girls of that era would agree with me when I say ... no.
  17. The last 3 Obsidian games I purchased were on Steam, so I may as well keep it there (don't care about/nor like "the cloud"), and I have no problem buying another base copy from GoG if I decide I want a non-Steam version later for some reason. But I probably won't. This isn't a game where I'd likely get finicky about being able to switch patch versions or something.
  18. Some made-up slang I get, but... At first glance I thought it was a badly misspelled word. Learn something every day, I guess.
  19. Save the food....always first priority. But glad your elbow/rest of self is ok, as well. ...speaking of food, that's about what I'm going to be "doing today," next.
  20. Drat I wasn't around when this thread was going. So with Gromnir's post in mind, I say ... March 28th!
  21. I don't have any gorgeous nature shots to share, but I was doing the photo album thing again, and ... uh ... guys? Remind me to never get a perm ever ever again. Friggin' 80's...
  22. lol. I'm guessing it's the gel hand sanitizer stuff that's so popular these days, not soap, per se. I can't stand the stuff, dries my skin like mad.
  23. I still find it rather awesome how the forum can be almost "empty", so to speak, and then 15 minutes after a PoE update post, the active user and online list grows and grows and grows.
