Can I play a necromancer
mrmonocle replied to TimTumm's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
the closest to the necromancer is the priest of skaen imo. -
I tried to get into it a few times, i forced myself to like it. But in the end i found D:OS repellent in almost every aspect. the combat is tedious, the graphics hurt the eyesight, the story - a cliche. So, what makes u play it?

Monk questions
mrmonocle replied to Magrusaod's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
IMHO a fire godlike Might/Dex monk is the absolution of DPS and retaliation. The thing is the monk NEEDs to get damaged in order to charge his abilities, so you'll always be on the verge of going down with just enough edge to prevail. Playing a monk is very responsive and intense, you won't regret it. -

don't discard the wizards, they're the most versitile and will learn all spells eventually, the druids are great damage dealers, but lack CC, the ciphers need to charge before casting anything, but all their abilities while limited in selection are very powerful. -

WTB Rogue suggestions/advice
mrmonocle replied to Yosharian's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
- why wielding a normal/fast weapon? normal/normal works well enough. As usual go for extremes - either normal/normal or fast/fast, normal/fast is not the most damaging and not the fastest. my tests proved normal/fast of different dmg types to be more useful than n/n or f/f. Sometimes you're half a sec late with interrupt with n/n, and f/f doesn't always provide a suitable dmg output. -
@gkathellar you're wrong about the wizard, they are awesome, both in damage output and buffing/debuffing capabilities + their low tier spells eventually move from per rest to per encounter. Wizards are also very versalite and don't need to build up focus like ciphers. While druids are awesome damage dealers, they nowhere near wizards in crowd control.
