How to play Evil?
InsaneCommander replied to Hazmy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I can't go completely evil. For example, when my Bleak Walker was asked to kill a baby, I killed the npc on the spot. -

A Special Announcement From Obsidian
InsaneCommander replied to Mikey Dowling's topic in Obsidian General
I think I haven't actually commented about the acquisition yet. I wish the best for everyone in Obsidian. You guys created some of my favorite crpgs and I'll check what comes next. But I do hope at least PoE3 follows my preferable recipe (like PoE has been so far). I might play different types of rpg, but that would be a matter of how different they are and how much free time I have. It is. It may have sounded like I was criticizing it in my previous post, but that post was off-topic too. -

Can't help but remember that time SonicMage117 kept posting lots of video game news videos and people complained about spamming. But it turned out that they were the ones going off-topic... -
How to play Evil?

Two possible justifications for doing the quests are: 1) You want to create a false reputation of being benevolent and honest, so you try to get that disposition. I'm not sure if you can get any reward from this besides being treated as a good person, but you can always kill all npcs that won't be noticed (golden ones in an isolated area ) and enjoy being a murderer that is treated as a hero. 2) Playing as sadist that enjoys seeing people in need asking for help just to backstab them in the end. This second case would look like what LittleAmadillo0 described above and must be very satisfying when you can kill the npc after ending the quest and getting the rewards, if that is your thing. My two evil characters were not really evil. One was a Bleak Walker that tried to find justification for killing but only did it to bad people. She enjoyed it a lot when it happened. The other was a Priest of Skaen that even got 2 points of Benevolent disposition. She was cruel only to oppressors. -

Reminds me of this episode of X-Files, which was inspired by an excavation in Greenland.

More Funny than ever (funny stuff topic)
InsaneCommander replied to Amentep's topic in Way Off-Topic
The only time I tried to play this game I choose the Friendly Phoebe (or whatever) storyteller. I wanted to build my colony peacefully to learn the game. And it happened just like in the picture. Some random frequency thing turned all females crazy (I swear I'm not making it up) and the colony spiraled down to hell. I got traumatized and haven't tried again yet. -
Pathfinder Kingmaker is bigger then Deadfire

Good to know. I'll probably take her for the romance when I play as LE. -
ST:DS9: to boldly stay where nobody has stayed before. Sorry, old joke. Gul Dukat has unfriended you. Gul Dukat is just envious because he quit staying there at the worst possible time.

yeah gameplay was frequently just spamming cooldowns. Basically the game combat is all about prep, and then it's just mashing whatever cooldown is ready during combat. I also really hated how willing enemies were to break engagement. I'm sure it made it "harder" but also made tactical engagement more meaningless. I lost interest halfway through the game and never finished it. But I liked to design spells.

That is what I think too.

Same here, I suppose: I was level 19 by the time I was tackling Splintered Reef and Drowned Barrows, and that was among the last things I did in the game. Not sure how other people maxed out their levels half-way through the game unless a) the DLCs make for that difference (I haven't played them yet), or b) they're relying on hyperbole. I got to level 18 just after Hasongo. Level 19 when I was fighting the Kraken. And level 20 in the first DLC. But I still had a good number of things to do. Iirc, I still had to do the islands in the North/NW, the Splintered Reef and the main quest after Hasongo.
