  1. I think they need a balance between the two. Attributes should be a bit more impactful than they are right now, but not so much as to make it unplayable if you place your attribute points wrong.
  2. It was bound to happen. Personally, I'm partial to BG2 and Heart of Winter's soundtracks. am having difficulty recalling HoW. the gameplay were... disappointing, so we has kinda blocked the experience from our mind, much like one may not actual recall the pain o' a traumatic leg break. sure, we can recall the leg break were not fun, but one may not actual recall the pain. HoW were a painful crpg experience. bg2 music did not annoy us. am not recalling it as particular good or bad, but if it weren't memorable bad, that is probable good... if that is making sense. iwd and iwd2 were our high water marks for ie games. we liked some ps:t stuff, but it all felt rather schizophrenic. so far, we has not been annoyed by PoE music. am realizing this is not a ringing endorsement, but comparatively speaking, it is a positive review. HA! Good Fun! I also prefer the Icewind Dale soundtracks to the Baldur's Gate ones. Skeleton of a Town is my favourite track of all the IE music (closely followed by Deionarra's theme from PS:T).
  3. It does seem like most people are putting a lot of points into might, so they'll probably do something about that.
  4. http://kotaku.com/how-to-balance-an-rpg-1625516832 Might be interesting.
  5. I saw this: http://kotaku.com/how-to-balance-an-rpg-1625516832
  6. Wait, you could do that? I never knew that, I always thought you had to close the trading screen to look at what your characters had equipped.
  7. I personally don't like using scripts for games like this, but it would definitely be a nice addition for the many people who do.
  8. Fair enough, I've always loved Jeremy Soule's music though. I think on the whole the Elder Scrolls games have more good music than Icewind Dale 1, although there's some very good music in both. I think Icewind Dale 1 & 2 sound more alike than Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale 1. In fact, I always thought Jeremy Soule and Inon Zur made pretty similar music, but maybe there's just something wrong with my ears.
  9. Sensuki, just curious, why do you like the Icewind Dale music but not the Elder Scrolls music? Sure they're different, but they've both got that Jeremy Soule feel.
  10. That's pretty much how it was in the IE games isn't it?
  11. I don't like having "safe" maps already explored in the fog of war, it makes it more difficult to know where you've already been. That's the main reason I never got into BG2, the first big town you get to is too overwhelming when you've got it all visible like that. I know a lot of people will probably disagree with me, but that's what I think.
  12. They've said the part you're playing in the beta isn't part of the main story, so it might be just for the beta that they've done this. At least that's what I hope, but writing different dialogue for the whole game for a less intelligent character might just be too much work.
  13. I agree Might sounds a lot better and fits the game better, but people would be less likely to be confused about what it means if it was called Power or something.
  14. That was what I wanted to say - I definitely do not want to have the circles off, but I'd very much like them to look nicer. Maybe replace the solid lines with a blurring of the background where they are or something (not the entire circle, just the outer edge)? Like how the cloak of displacement in BG blurs your character, but for a thin line of the environment where the stealth circles are. Yeah they current circles are very ugly, it'd be nice to have something nicer looking.
  15. This one, people. This one!!! Yes, there is infact a reason words have more than one meaning. I'm sure if you complain REALLY hard they'll change it's name to "Power Level" and we can all make lame "may-may" jokes about being over 9000. If they'd just named it Power instead of Might, some people might have one less thing to complain about. Then again, they'd probably just find something else to complain about instead.
  16. I find them too small as well. The UI is made for 1280x720, which I think is why. edit: Yep. Fullscreen UI at 720p *rolleyes* THIS IS WHAT IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE ON ALL RESOLUTIONS FFFFFFFFFFFF This is hopefully just for the beta, and they'll properly scale it in the full version (not to mention they're still very much working on the UI so it might be completely changed by the time the proper release comes).
  17. I like this idea. I think it would be a quite useful addition.
  18. I don't really care if they give you stat bonuses or not, but they should affect the story and dialogue more.
  19. I agree with most people here (although I can't believe someone doesn't like the Elder Scrolls music ). It's okay, it could be better, it could be worse, but it does its job decently enough.
  20. I think giving accuracy to perception instead of dexterity would make a lot of sense, and maybe give speed or something to dexterity instead.
  21. Pretty sure a lot of them are placeholders, they look almost exactly like the ones in some of the IE games. (Unless that's the point and they're supposed to look like that)
  22. They could easily do it so it doesn't cover the portrait.
