  1. I thought that all this stuff about his attending school in Indonesia and being called Hussein was discussed to death when he first seemed a likely candidate for president - I certainly remember all this being out in the open long ago. The word 'madrassa' covers a wide range of types of school, from some very nasty pro-extremist indoctrinators to some very progressive and high-quality educational establishments. The use of the word by scaremongers only reveals their ignorance of the subject.
  2. Refusing to sign Kyoto and siding with the Bush administration over global warming seemed rather a strange approach in such an environmentally-aware country, but I don't know how big a part that played in Labour's victory.
  3. Do you mean the Kotor Savegame Editor? It's here.
  4. Hello, and welcome to the forums. No-one's raised the issue of rideable horses for a while, after Obsidian made it clear they wouldn't be in the game. Since Bioware eventually got horses into NWN (in a premium module, I think it was) after two expansions, I guess it's not impossible but who can say when or if it will happen? I'd quite like to see it, but can they make mounted combat work at the same time? Horses in Oblivion were a bit of a waste of space.
  5. I don't see a flaw in the Jedi code. Small acts of evil are indeed evil, and killing one innocent to achieve a higher goal only taints that goal, however noble it may have been in theory, as well as tainting the murderer.
  6. I think Christmas 2007 would be unlikely - why (and how) would LucasArts have kept the game under wraps for so long? Kotor 1 was a huge thing and Kotor 2 didn't do badly either, so they'd want to trumpet Kotor 3 for months before release - the full magazine preview hype thing that Bethesda and Bioware do so well... There's a chance that Kotor 3 is the Bioware/LucasArts joint project announced recently, but no more than a chance. Hawk's right - this is just a rumour, and not really one of the more plausible ones we've heard. Edit: Plus that article was dated June.
  7. This has been a bit disappointing. Let's not do it again, eh?
  8. Perhaps that will happen in Kotor 3 (if it's ever made).
  9. I stopped playing Kotor 2 a while back. Sure, there are withdrawal issues, but the Restoration mod, when it finally comes out, will be all the sweeter for it.
  10. Hi, and welcome to the forums. Does this help? If not, I'd suggest taking a look at our FAQ's 'Vista' section and at the LucasArts Kotor 2 technical support forum.
  11. Cheers. From your post to my credit card statement in under 10 minutes. I think that's a record. It's ages since I played the early Space Quests - I had them on floppies that stopped working yonks ago.
  12. I bought a PS2 but I couldn't get used to it, even playing games that I really ought to like. It was too unfamiliar, and I felt completely out of control with no keyboard or mouse and just this 'controller' thing in my hand. I suppose I might have got used to it in time, but it was very unsettling to be defeated by technology like that. I guess I need to be able to CTRL-ESC out of things - sort of like having a panic button? In the end, I gave the wretched thing to my mother, who now enjoys playing Space Invaders and Pacman on it.
  13. I wonder if the team really knew when they started that they were looking at this sort of timescale... Nevertheless, the mod will be very welcome, no matter when it arrives.
  14. I prefer the Haiducii version myself.
  15. Scotland deserved to qualify, England didn't. Next year is going to be grim. I remember the (English) commentary from the 1994 World Cup (England didn't qualify for that either): "Well, (insert name of foreign player) is doing reasonably well here, but when you think of what the likes of a (insert name of English player) or a (insert name of other English player) would have made of that chance, it really is so disappointing for the fans..." Of course, said English players would have made a dog's dinner of any chance, as I think they showed last night. Maybe they could give all the commentators the month off and just broadcast each match with funeral music in the background.
  16. I finished Sam & Max: Ice Station Santa, and although I enjoyed it overall, I found that some the banter between Sam and Max is starting to fall a bit flat. It lacks freshness and bite. I'm now playing Quest for Glory again (I can't believe it's been so long - maybe two years or more - since I played). I'm already in QfG2 and pleased by the fact that I still remember the way to the moneylender by heart.
  17. I did play it and I enjoyed it (and the Dark Avatar expansion), but I haven't played for a while.
  18. Matt Peckham doesn't like Mass Effect. That alone is enough to make me want it.
  19. Mass Effect is certainly extremely hyped. It's getting rather ridiculous now.
  20. It depends what other properties and investments Infogrames has (if any at all), and how well they're doing, and how willing the parent company is to use funds from one (more successful) part of the business to fund another (and less successful) part.
  21. He has a custom title because he won the new smilie contest. Along with Bok, Oerwinde and a couple others IIRC. Other custom titles might be winnable from other competitions, I suppose. Does anyone have a good idea for a competition? I had to look up theurgist in the dictionary and I'm not thrilled by the result but I guess you do learn something every day, however useless it may be.
  22. The domination victory was my understanding of the plan, yes, and that's why I launched a vicious, unprovoked and entirely unnecessary military attack on Egypt, one that will cost me some sleep tonight I'm sure. I guess a spaceship victory would be fine, but we need to reinforce our borders and then get to developing our cities properly. I'm happy either way.
  23. 261 (1755AD) - sent the Great General to Peragus to become a drill instructor, as that's been designated a military/army production city. 262 (1760AD) - declared war on Hatshepsut 263 (1765AD) - captured Elephantine 264 (1770AD) - another Great General to MeatyTown as a drill instructor. 266 (1780AD) - captured Alexandria 269 (1795AD) - Hammurabi has become a vassal of Elizabeth, replacing Wang Kon. 271 (1805AD) - captured Thebes. Also we built the Pentagon in Irvine. 276 (1812AD) - captured Heliopolis. Hatshepsut capitulated, and is now our vassal. As a result, we met Justinian of the Byzantines. 280 (1820AD) - End Okay, one of the not-so-great decisions I made was to let Egypt capitulate in 276 rather than head down and destroy Memphis, so that Thebes would be less likely to revolt from its cultural influence. The reason was that there was a Wang Kon stack heading through Egyptian territory, probably to attack Thebes, and I felt our army had rather overextended itself. As soon as the war with Egypt finished, Wang Kon ran away, but I'm sure he'll be back. As I felt the army was spread rather thin, I set most cities to pump out infantry to fortify the front lines and to rebuild the army for a potential attack on whoever's next - I'd say Wang Kon, since he'll probably attack us soon anyway. In any case, the army needs some re-organisation once we have a few more infantry to play with. I left the Great Scientist who appeared just before the end of my go in Irvine, for the next player to deal with. A corporation might be useful to fund our soon-to-be massive empire, if we want to avoid communism. I researched Railroad, and our workers are now creating a rail network. We're currently researching Combustion. Newly-conquered formerly Egyptian territory:
  24. I'll go. I'm not due a turn yet, but who cares. See you shortly with the results.
