  1. Would you guys say that Neverwinter Nights is the easiest game to learn modding on if you're an absolute beginner, or is there something easier? Whichever game you choose, The Owner, there will always be a community out there with a forum with links to 'Modding for Beginners' documents specific to that game. Some of the NWN2 ones are really excellent and very helpful.
  2. Be nice, Mr. Samm. RA-Jeff: Sorry if it seems like we're ignoring your problem, but I'm afraid I don't know of any solution for this problem. I'm assuming that other games (released around the same time) work fine with your card, and you've updated the drivers to the latest versions. Bizarrely, sometimes an older version of the drivers can work better, so that's something you might try. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
  3. Actually I find this happens to me as well. I know it's only a game, I know it's only role-playing, and it's fine for a short while, but I have to pause and do something else every so often if I'm 'playing evil', especially if the game is really well written and you can be really properly evil.
  4. I get very confused comparing high-end graphics cards nowadays, because you have to keep the various SLI (and whatever ATI's equivalent is) options in mind. That said, is it ever the case that two lower-priced cards SLId together will outperform a single higher-priced card? Ooh, is ATI lagging behind then? I thought they were level-pegging in all things. An nVidia monopoly would not be a good development, certainly...
  5. 'fraid so. I'd suggest joining this thread - 'What are you playing now'.
  6. There are no anti-console morals. There's only (on my part at least) fear of the controller. I've tried to get used to it - I had a PS2 for a while - but it just doesn't work for me. So no keyboard and mouse for Mass Effect, eh? I guess that means Microsoft isn't getting its grubby hands on my savings after all.
  7. Just starting out, eh? I'm a little jealous. It really is as good as everyone's been saying.
  8. That's the point - her awfulness made her fun, especially when the PC got her all flustered - as he seemed to do frequently, as I recall...
  9. Thanks for posting the solution when you found it - a lot of people forget to do that, but it really helps the community and future visitors. The link in your post is broken - I'm assuming you're talking about this site. I notice they don't recommend using their software with Vista - has that been a problem for you at all?
  10. There are hints of attraction, and rivalries developing between companions as a result. There are no full romance paths in the Kotor1/Jade Empire/Baldur's Gate 2 tradition, no (to my personal disappointment, but then there you go, you can't have everything... )
  11. Very unlikely to be the Exile, as I don't think the character gained quite the popularity that Revan did. So Revan, perhaps, but it would be a very overpowered Revan, and probably better off just appearing as a cameo. After the not-all-that-could-be-hoped-for conclusion of Kotor2, I definitely want to find out what happened to some of the companions in Kotor2, but cameos are the way to go. Not likely, and not something I'd personally enjoy. One of the strengths of the Kotor franchise was that it came without all the baggage of the movies and their time - best to keep it that way, I think.
  12. I liked Bastila a lot, particularly when she used the force to knock Mission over - that got a laugh.
  13. I don't know if it has exactly what you're looking for, but this site has a lot of mods that might be of interest.
  14. *whooshing sound as this passes over Steve's head.* *twanging sound as it hits a nearby tree* Ermm, so, it's an RPG where you modify the big metal armour tank thing you walk around in, is that right? 'Cause it sounds more like an action-y shoot-y kill-y kind of thing to me...
  15. I'm right there with you. A 360-owning friend tells me there is a keyboard and mouse you can connect, but whether you can actually use it to play a particular game depends on that game. If someone can confirm from actual experience that you can play Mass Effect with a mouse and keyboard, I might... I just might...
  16. Rule #9: No spamming.
  17. Congratulations to both Pidesco and Tigranes.
  18. I'm not familiar with Shadowrun, Mechwarrior or Crimson Skies. Do tell - I'm always interested in a previously unknown RPG (if it's any good).
  19. Have you seen the trailer for Purgatorio, the NWN2 mod? It's stunning! RPGCodex has a link.
  20. You could try the following: a) Post in the correct forum. Very little happens in the Obsidian General forum. b) Wait a bit longer. These boards have a leisurely pace, with people all over the world coming on at different times. c) Join existing discussions as well as posting your own topics.
  21. Moving to the Star Wars Universe forum. And sorry, I don't know the answer, but I suspect you can't change anything on the XBox.
  22. Hello, and welcome to the forums. There are a number of free avatars for you to choose from here. Go to 'My Controls', then click on 'Edit Avatar Settings' and look at the Pre-Installed Avatars choices.
  23. From the very little I know about the 4th. edition, mostly gleamed from skimming through the thread on the PnP forum, it's all about being mainstream, whereas Planescape was very quirky but lacking in supposed mass-appeal, and so was largely abandoned. Also, aren't they getting rid of things like the Blood War and alignment? How would Planescape work without those?
  24. This might actually have qualified for the 'Worst Endings' thread... See, I don't mind unresolved endings where they promise to tie everything up in the sequel - provided the sequel is actually then made. Still Life is a case in point - we never learned who the killer was because it was to have been the subject of the third game in the trilogy, but then Microids got disbanded or taken over or something. Well, the Microids brand is back, and the third game is due for release in November 2008.
  25. Have you tried the UniWS patch as suggested by WidescreenGamer.com?
