  1. Hello, and welcome to the boards. Gosh, it's been so long since I played I can hardly remember. You should be able to switch your party by going back to the Ebon Hawk - this sounds to me like a glitch, and one I think I've had myself. Try reloading a save (you do save regularly, I hope!) from a while back and go to the Ebon Hawk, then find the latest save that allows you to enter, and play again from that save. That's what I did. You'll get the third piece of your lightsaber when you've done what needs to be done on Nar Shaddaa (or any of the other planets, whichever you complete first).
  2. I really do want to condemn the Burmese government, so on that point we must disagree. Please don't interpret my criticism as aimed at you - I appreciate the contribution you make to the thread by bringing the government's point of view for us to see. It only exposes them for the frauds they are. 14 years to draft a 'democratic' constitution? Laughable. And the only ones in this who are motivated by hate for the Burmese nation and people are their own illegitimate government.
  3. One of the key ideas of democracy is that the person whose party wins the election gets to be in government. It's not as if they don't know where she lives...
  4. This patch does indeed give, as advertised, a significant jump in performance. On my machine, at least.
  5. It's coming through the auto-updater now, so I guess they've made it official.
  6. I hope so much that something will come of this, but unless at least a portion of the military breaks ranks and refuses to enforce the crackdown, I don't see how the protests can be successful. Burma is one giant slave camp, and always a contender for Worst Place In The World To Be Born. There are unpleasant regimes all over the world, of course, but it's hard to think of anywhere where the government is so unpleasant and the opposition has so much legitimacy. Sadly, the world has failed to act: The Burma Dirty List
  7. I couldn't agree more. While I like fantasy well enough, the thought of an RPG set in the modern world - with hi-tech stuff, sure, but no magic, Force or absurd sci-fi elements - is very appealing to me. I wonder if this is true.
  8. I think I'll wait for the updater to start working. All those numbers are confusing me.
  9. Nasty. At least it's not the World Bank's fault (this time). Do they say why the 'space germs' are more deadly?
  10. Towards Peace If the people of the world Threw down their guns From the biggest of them To the very smallest ones There would be far less danger Of a stranger Shooting someone else. My suggestion is that soldiers And sailors too Should all be armed with pop-guns Then they couldn't do The damage that they do At present And life would be More pleasant. Roland Milk
  11. That's not true. She also speaks to any number of people, some of whom may not be entirely trustworthy. And we're supposed to remember and care who all these people are. All of them! He used to list the characters in the index to remind you who they are but I think he gave up because it would have taken a hundred pages each book.
  12. I've been reading these since I was a kid. Living abroad (as I mostly have as an adult), each return to the UK was accompanied by a quick check in Waterstones to see if the latest Robert Jordan had come out. I think I've read the last one (nothing much happened, but that's been the case for quite a while now). He really was infuriating in his ability to drag things out, and keep introducing new characters and stories while leaving existing ones hanging. I should have stopped reading a long time ago, but it's just become a habit and I wanted to find out what happened to these characters I've known for over half my life. I'm sorry to hear of Jordan's death, but I hope and believe the final book will be published in some form or another.
  13. I'm in. Beyond the Sword is really good, and the corporations are great fun. The AI seems to have improved on the lower levels, in terms of the computer-controlled civs handling their technological progression and going for victory. Perhaps it shows Firaxis is moving away from reliance on production bonuses/penalties to make the game challenging or easy.
  14. They tested a massive big bomb yesterday (I think it was), and it was shown 'live on state TV'. That was rather creepily Soviet, wasn't it? Plus they're now making trouble testing our air defenses. I know it's mostly for domestic consumption (look, we're a superpower again!), but these things have a habit of leading to accidents and incidents and bad feeling, which leads on to other things... I'm sure Mr. Zubkov has done excellent work at the anti-money-laundering watchdog, an agency created by Putin himself. Apparently he's a former tax inspector, which I suppose is a reasonable qualification for becoming Prime Minister.
  15. There are medical professionals who go into situations like this risking exposure to the disease in order to care for the sick. They deserve as much respect and admiration as front-line troops in combat.
  16. I happened upon a movie based on something called Yu Gi Oh a while back. I understand that films have in the past been inspired by card games, but I assumed there was more involved than simply showing people playing the card game while shouting and striking dramatic poses. Two thumbs pointed in random directions to indicate bewilderment and the inability to judge the quality of something so alien.
  17. Closed for length.
  18. A small number of bad police officers think that their uniform entitles them to a life free from the little annoyances and irritations that plague the rest of us. He may be one of these. However, he may be a good police officer having a bad day, heavily overworked and underpaid. Who knows? I think he should apologise to this woman, though. The worst thing to do when you've made a mistake is refuse to back down.
  19. What was it about the preview that made you feel like that? I have to say that it left me feeling like this game might be rather a mess of different styles of games, getting none of them quite right.
  20. The only reason I can imagine for getting an XBox 360 would be if Mass Effect is fantastic, and even then I'd probably wait for the PC version like I did with Jade Empire. I'm not aware of any other promising games that are XBox exclusive. Are there any? And they still cost over three hundred pounds, is that right?
  21. I think I hear the music from the Psycho shower scene. I really must get round to playing Gothic 3 one of these days.
  22. Gray Matter Goodness, this game has been talked about and talked about, purely because Jensen's name was attached to it, but there's been precious little evidence that it would ever see the light of day. Now it seems as if it might do just that, and from this preview, I think it sounds pretty good.
  23. It sounds fascinating, but my subscription to The Lancet Infectious Diseases has expired. Nice to read the highlights, though. They should try Second Life next.
  24. We can but hope. As for Lego Indiana Jones, I can but yawn. I didn't enjoy the Lego Star Wars demo at all (very console-y), so more of the same holds no interest or appeal. It's just another silly thing they're doing when they ought to be doing KotOR 3.
  25. Santa doesn't exist. Not here at least. Nor does the Easter bunny. The chocolate eggs in the supermarkets in spring are just chocolate eggs, not Easter Eggs. Has everyone got that? And if there happens to be an unusually large number of turkeys in those supermarkets popular with foreign residents during December, it's most likely due to seasonal fluctuations in the Avian Flu mortality rate.
