He's force-sensitive, so he should have the same facility for languages that Jedi do, but he's suppressed it. Possible? Yes. Convincing? Not so much.

Yes, Another Morrowind Thread
SteveThaiBinh replied to BicycleOfDeath's topic in Computer and Console
I didn't play the expansion packs. Did we ever find out what really happened to the Dwemer? I thought that was a really nice element in the backstory. -
New Oblivion Trailer Released!
SteveThaiBinh replied to Darth Sirius's topic in Computer and Console
Pretty. The city could have done with more people, maybe. Looked a bit empty. Still, that's a hard trade-off: a bustling street filled with generic characters or one with only a handful of more interesting people. -
A Star Wars game using the Fable engine
SteveThaiBinh replied to Sion67's topic in Computer and Console
I'm not sure the whole 'kill everything and anything' fits well with being a Jedi, even in the Kotor games. But anyway, Fable looks pretty, and I guess I'll buy the PC version. I prefer the combat in Kotor because you don't need good reflexes a reliable mouse. -
There was a point, maybe a couple of days, when I was so happy with the majority of the game and so frustrated and disappointed by the weak ending that I might have done something as foolish as pay again for a completed game. I would still pay for an expansion pack, at expansion pack prices and expecting more cut content to be restored than has so far been discovered. But as things stand, no, I wouldn't pay again for the same product.

Apparently it was shown at Cannes today. They're playing up a 'political' angle, some similarity between Darth Vader and George Bush, I suppose. I'm going to try and wait to see it near the end of its run - I hate going to a packed cinema, it gets too hot.

Excellent game, with another ending that I found rather anti-climactic. It may be a symptom of having too many writers working on their separate bits, not combining to have a clear vision of the ending. On the other hand, there's always been a tendency to under-invest in the ending because only a small proportion of gamers will see it, and by that time they've already spent their money. I remember when magazine reviews usually mentioned the quality of the final 'pay-off' as a factor in reviewing the game as a whole, particularly in RPGs and adventure games. This no longer seems to happen so often.

What Would You Change In Kotor?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Keep your party with you right to the end, and make them more integral to how the ending turns out (more so even than the cut endings). Dramatically different LS and DS endings. Not only NPCs' appearances but also personalities and dialogue affected by alignment. -
Revan here, Revan there (Aug 31)
SteveThaiBinh replied to aimo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Fantastic, as always. Does it even need to be said? -
If you get a kind of lightsaber you don't want, just restore the game and open the container/talk to the person again. You will often get something different, and you don't have to restore a game from before you entered that particular area, at least I've never found that necessary. I prefer Two lightsabers to one double-bladed anyway, because you get more crystal bonuses.

The Jedi and the love issue
SteveThaiBinh replied to Hildegard's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I would imagine as many Jedi have been turned to the Dark Side by the tortured guilt of suppressed feelings of love as by the realisation of the passions associated with love. -
Bored so who did you hate the most from both KotOR
SteveThaiBinh replied to Kalfear's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I disliked the Czerka rep. on Telos, Jana Lorso or something like that. It was an excellent opportunity to present a character who was a good conservative, someone who believes that the pursuit of profit is genuinely beneficial to society as a whole. Instead she was a rather shallow villain. It was a missed opportunity. Still, I didn't dislike her that much, nor any of the characters. Well, maybe GO-TO. -
Did anyone else just get a KOTOR II survey?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Sir Cedric's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Is this the first survey of this kind that anyone on these boards has encountered? I haven't ever received one, despite having registered most of the games I've ever bought. In a sense, it would be surprising if this kind of survey wasn't standard practice in the industry. Customer feedback is a vital part of future planning, at least in a company that's not completely disfunctional. -
If the graphics aren't good, the reviews will be poor, the game won't sell and the franchise will die. There aren't enough good RPG titles or franchises that I would ever want one to fail commercially, as it may have knock-on effects for the entire genre. So better graphics are a must, with the release of the new Xbox soon, there's no reason to hold back any longer.

Star Maps Or Jedi Masters
SteveThaiBinh replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Looking for and finding the star maps was more satisfying, reflecting in my view the fact that Kotor 1 was a more satisfying and simpler game. More satisfying is not necessarily better, of course. But the star maps led inexorably to the Star Forge and gave a sense of momentum to the game. The search for the Jedi Masters was less important, as it turned out, or rather, it was up to you to invest it with the meaning and importance you considered appropriate. -
What affects "random" item drops?
SteveThaiBinh replied to epeeist's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It would be nice if the game looked at your abilities and class and threw you items that would be useful. Or at least, it might be nice at first but it would become old very quickly. After all, what business is it of the game's to tell you what kind of character you're developing? I haven't noticed that the game gives me more or fewer of the items my character would want, so at the moment I'm guessing that it's random. You could sit down with a piece of paper and do a proper study, if you like. -
Idea for female characters in game...
SteveThaiBinh replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm hoping that as graphics become better and the whole gaming experience becomes more immersive, gamers will be less tolerant of one-dimensional characters in RPGs. I'd like to see ALL characters, male and female, to have better-developed personalities and moods, and a genuine mix of personalities, not the stereotypes the initial poster proposed. Some of the principles involved in The Sims could be applied, perhaps. I think this is a long way off, but as the average age of gamers is rising, it's possible. -
a thread with some info for once? please?
SteveThaiBinh replied to richard's topic in Computer and Console
We would all really like some more information, but I'm sure it will come in time. It's probably not Obsidian's decision to release this information, at least not until the publisher has given the OK. -

Missing KOTOR II Movies
SteveThaiBinh replied to Slipstreme's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If you mean that the count of movies unlocked is always four below the total, it might be that this total includes the company logo movies that show when the game starts. -
Radio 2, Parsons and Naylor. Oh rats, I just admitted I was listening to Radio 2. I only listen to the comedy! Really!
-
Someone on the radio said today about Episode III: "My recommendation is to watch the end of Episode II and the start of Episode IV, eat lots of cheese and then go to sleep. You will dream something much better."
-
Fantastic idea. But it will only happen if the new series is shown, and is popular, in the US. Are there even plans to show it there? I suppose I might watch the Star Wars series if I happen to own a TV in the future, but I won't go out of my way. I'm sure I know someone who'll buy the DVD box-set, probably the same person who had five seasons of Stargate and needed a cat-sitter two summers ago.
