The better view of KOTOR...
SteveThaiBinh replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Maybe you should be able to import your character from The Sims 3 into Kotor 3? I think the idea is fine so long as it isn't difficult or time-consuming for the programmers to achieve. It's certainly not a priority for me, compared with story, QA etc. -
Is it common for a franchise to jump horses in mid-stream, so to speak? I mean, surely a sequel tends to sell well to people who bought the original, which is PC and XBox users. So why change it? Unless lots of people are so sick of the XBox that they buy the new Playstation instead.

Force Sight doesn't work.
SteveThaiBinh replied to Sinbreaker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There's a specific ability that your graphics card needs to have in order to show Force Sight on PC. Apparently, there are some cards which can't do this, even though they can handle the rest of the game without any problem. You may just have one of the cards that can't do it properly. -
It's a medal for bravery, usually awarded to heroic civilians (Britain's highest civilian award, I think). It was awarded to the entire island of Malta for resisting German attacks under siege during the Second World War. There are strong historical links between the UK and Malta, one reason why they were one of only three countries to award us any points in the contest tonight. If it weren't for political voting, the UK would have 'nil points'.
-
I think we already do see a reasonable contest. Most countries have several neighbours, and even if they are all guaranteed the top four spots, people will still choose between them on the basis of the song. They also give small scores to non-neighbouring countries, probably on merit, and these add up. So it balances out, more or less, maybe, I hope.
-
In the UK we laugh at the political voting - although we always give a high score to Ireland, our neighbour - and again this year we saw Greece and Cyprus voting for each other, Lithuania and Estonia voting for Latvia, with the TV commentator mocking them for it. I wonder if other nations see it as a negative thing or just part of Eurovision tradition.
-
I believe there's a region in Greece called Macedonia. Greece is hostile to the formation of an independent state with that name, which is why we always talk about "The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", not just "Macedonia". I don't know which region has better claim to the name or which Alexander came from, though.

The British commentator is complaining that the four major contributor countries to the Eurovision budget, France, Spain, Germany and the UK, are the four with the lowest scores. Greece won!

Was that the one about Las Vegas? It was a bit out of place. What was that guy, Swedish-American? Or just some random guy they found? It can be a bit hard to listen to some songs that switch between English and another language - sometimes your listening to a song an the accent is so unfamiliar it takes a while to realise that part of it is in English at all.
-
Well, the songs are done, voting's nearly finished too. I voted for Malta. Hard to say exactly why, but I liked it.
-
Moldova's "Granny bangs her drum" has to be the best Eurovision Song ever!
-
Of course Britain does crap, no-one likes us! Every year the sad British commentators tell us that our song is clearly the best, it's just these nasty foreigners and their political voting that denies us our deserved victory. I liked the Eastern European songs last year - more folk than pop, a lot of them.

The final of the Eurovision Song Contest has just started in Kiev. The world's greatest cultural festival, twenty-four weird incomprehensible songs followed by two hours of politicised voting, as each country votes for its friends and against its historical enemies. Is there anything more bizarrely wonderful? What do you think of this year's entrants? And who are you voting for?

The Jedi and the love issue
SteveThaiBinh replied to Hildegard's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
From a security point of view, forbidding love is the more risky approach. Since humans are imperfect, it's likely that there will always be Jedi who 'fall' and succumb to temptation. If forming relationships is forbidden, the Jedi in question is vulnerable to blackmail, surely a greater risk than kidnapping. -
Help, Handmaiden won't talk to me!
SteveThaiBinh replied to JMadisonIV's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
As far as I know, once you've upset her and triggered the 'not talking to you' response, there's no going back. If you restore a game before that and do something to improve your influence before you return to the Ebon Hawk, that should work. -
Help, Handmaiden won't talk to me!
SteveThaiBinh replied to JMadisonIV's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This happened because at a certain point, you had significantly more influence with Visas than with Handmaiden. Once it's done, it's done, there's no way out (as far as I know) unless you restore an earlier game. Don't look at it as a mistake, but rather as one way the game can play out. Next time through, take care to keep your influence with Handmaiden higher, and you'll have a different experience. -
am i the only one that loved that ending?
SteveThaiBinh replied to teegees's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Looks as though you're saying you loved the gameplay of the ending. That's not so unusual, as hacking through lots of monsters to face the final boss is standard in RPGs, it seems. The objections on this forum to the ending are more to do with the story, and how your NPCs' stories aren't brought to any kind of conclusion. -
Hellgate: London Gameplay Videos and Cinematic
SteveThaiBinh replied to karka's topic in Computer and Console
I'm not a frequent traveller to London, but my guess would be the District Line. -
They're probably trying to think of a way to charge us for it.

What happens at Dantooine....
SteveThaiBinh replied to darth buch's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I followed the supposedly DS path and killed the Jedi Masters, but my own alignment was strongly LS. After the confrontation on Dantooine, I got 'Force Enlightenment?', if that's the correct name, i.e. the special LS power, not Force Crush. -
Do you suppose he takes the helmet off when he's sleeping? I didn't really like this use of Canderous in Kotor 2. It seemed to me (naively, perhaps) that towards the end of Kotor 1 he was having second thoughts about the warrior's way of life - ready to hang up his blaster, perhaps? He should have got the job as head of security on Dantooine.

I'm not overly concerned with George Lucas' bank balance, but illegal downloading is indeed wrong, because it undermines the idea of intellectual property and threatens the livelihoods of small independent artists. What does smashing a box-office record prove? That Revenge of the Sith is a great movie in the tradition of Titanic , perhaps?

Surely she's just saying what Bush is thinking. Or is that a contradiction in terms?
