  1. Ok, lets play your game then. (Yuusha, Brdays and Rostere) 1. Israel opens the border, letting everyone to move as they please 2. Any possible suicidebombing or rocketshooting is met in Jesus-style: "We forgive you" 3. Israel restores water and power to Gaza and whatnot 4.... 5. Peace? Questions: 1) The palestinians in Gaza (not the West Bank) elect a party that wishes for the destruction of Israel, why is Israel still obliged to have to supply them with food, electricity and water? 2) What is the situation in the West Bank? Do they have the same problems of the same magnitude, do they have enough food, water and electricity? Do they have the same amount of violence? Why/why not? 3) Why is it that violence against the Isreali "understandable, but not forgivable", but violence against Hamas "Unforgivable state terrorism"? Shouldn't violence be condemned, whoever using it? Should peace-negotiations start with condemnation of one part only?
  2. Once, i used big fonts at a forum. The moderator was pleased, and the administrator was astonished by my resolve. Everything worked out fine and we all got what we wanted.
  3. Once, in Oblivion, i tried to to roleplay as a homosexual redguard. My "Anders" didn't discriminate anyone, and even offered love to orcs, kajiits and argonians. But to no avail, my little Anders was destined to solitude by this sexist game. Why can you wage war, but not make love? "Why? oh why?", my little Anders cried. His sadness was an endless void, never satisfied. This void turned into a maelstrom of hatred of everything and everyone. My little Anders was changed. "Why should i help Martin?", he thought. "Why should i help this forsaken Tamriel, where war is eternal, and love equally neglected for aeons?". "No", he declared. "If death is the only truth of this world, then i shall abide by it; No.....rather REVEL in it!". So he murdered everyone that have denied him love, warmth and affection, committed acts on their dead bodies that would make a Mehrunes Dagon blush like a catholic nun, and offered them as sacrifice to the great Hemaeus Mora. My little Anders had finally grown up, gained wisdom and sought to understand on the art of murder. He found an answer within a brotherhood of fellows that were at least as dark as he was. After some killing, raping and general good 'ole fun, he won the approval of the night mother herself. I heard that he is still out there in Oblivion, trying to destroy the very game that created him. Oh, my little Anders how your persistance is admirable, beating down Martin to a bloody pulp, only to have him ressurected again. Maybe some day you will succeed, maybe not. At least it is done in the name of love, i guess, or because of it. This was created, and written during my coffeebreak.
  4. The Cure - Pictures of You
  5. There will be no peace in that part of the world until the people of each others side truly desires it without the destruction of one another.
  6. If one per say, try to de-compose the elements of what that constitutes as the 'atmosphere' of Deus Ex, i would nominate the following: writing, style and music. While i do trust Obsidian doing what they do best, namely managing some coherent writing, the style can be a bit of hit and miss at times though. I wouldn't worry so much about the music, since Alpha Protocol has the same composer as the original Deus Ex. This adds up to 2/3 elements for the standard Deus Ex vibe, i think Which should be enough for the most of us.
  7. oh, uh. Right.
  8. Err, it is a beta, not the final version.
  9. Looks more interesting than GTAIV, that's for sure.
  10. The Cure - Disintegration
  11. My wishlist, in no particular order: - KotOR 3 - New WoD game, hopefully set in Paris or something that suits the 'gothic' vampire setting more than L.A. - A new DnD game, set in where ever, except the sword coast. - Viking RPG, exploring the Norse mythology. "Rune" did it right, albeit it was a, eh, First Person Slaugherfest? - An RPG set in a Wagnerian world, closely reminiscing an opera, with the use of Neuschwansteinistic imagery and fused with the philosophies of Nietszche, Shopenhauer and Kant. - Ninja RPG, set in Togukawa Japan. In a time of peace, there's a lot of room for deception and the use of Shinobi expertice is very beneficial. Expect the user to be tested on his or her loyalty, hindsight and their nature of being a professional assassin. - Samurai RPG, set in timeperiod before the great battle at Sekigahara. Allows the user to test the relationship between the retainer and the master, explore the bushido code, and base ones moral on the to extent of ones sword; namely the legendary Muramasa (chaos, fierceness) or Masamune (benevolence, wisdom). - A complete suprime; as in the player starts as a regular character living a regular life in a regular neighbourhood. The player can choose the sex, the appearance and some of the background, but they are restricted to the mundane ones. Such as being a garbageman, a dentist, engineer or a taxi driver. The player does not know what happens next, and the game is unravels itself into an amazing adventure RPG depending on the mundane choices in the beginning. The player doesn't even know of the levelling system, since the choice that effect the outcome comes from choosing which store to buy milk, whether to see a movie or whenever they go to work. This ofcourse requires a complete lockdown on how the story develops in terms of hype and marketing. Preferably, it would be none at all. I was in charge, i would drive Obsidian to the ground within a year
  12. I take you're volunteering to go into taliban held territory/the slums of Cairo/the plantations of Morocco and gather forensic evidence then? Oh, and don't forget to gather witnesses! Don't get me wrong, I fully support habeus corpus in civil and criminal courts. But this is hardly normal. Thinking point: we accept the military's ability to judge who is a terrorist when they open fire on people in the field. What if they were strongly religious farmers randomly shooting at trespassing strangers? What if they were simply offered as Al-Qaeda terrorists because of false witness?
  13. I do not see where you are going with this, i do not think that anyone on this forum would disagree that the rights of life, liberty and pursuit for happiness are something that shouldn't be interpreted as universal, nor something that could be interpreted differently according to customs, culture or religion.
  14. Yeah, and people still argue what the 'true' form of metal is, and what a 'true' RPG is. Rhodesian imperialism died by the WWII, and to claim that any form imperialism has simply dissappeared is equally folly. I'll end this one with that i disagree. It is an observation of the rhetoric of the Bush administration. Right. There was also the right time to stop the slaughter in Rwanda, the rising of the 'dictator' of Iran, end the genocide in darfur, liberate North Korea, end the civil war and suffering in the democratic republic of Kongo, liberate the oppression of tibetanians against the chinese, liberate West-Sahara from Marocco, ending the civil war in Algeria, supporting independence for an independent Kashmir, ending the Israeli-middle east conflict once and for all, overthrow Kadaffi and liberate Lybia, supporting a state for the oppressed Kurds and so on and so on. But hey, Saddam was that horrible threat, the evil mastermind in the far east, who was overthrown within three weeks and with US casulties way too little for the press to even bother to report. Or maybe, just maybe did the guy go against US interests to such a degree that a tactic of pre-emptive strike was mandated. And they are still there, are they not? What do you call that? Strategic reallocation of leadership in the eastern sector? Pre-emptive peacekeeping? Normalization of hostile elements?
  15. Oh dear, when was your last upgrade? In the year 2000? The puzzles are pretty much straight-forward, but the music and art is what makes the game for me.
  16. Rammstein - Sehnsucht
  17. Today my christmas holiday ended, and i am back at work. Lucky for me though, there isn't really much to do.
  18. Let us cut to the chase already, shall we? Is imperialism good or not? Because that it is what it is, no matter how benevolent or how well-intended. Comparing Hitler's dream of lebensraum in the east, the communist revolution, the segregated konfucian ideals of the orient, to the time of 'peace' when the totalitarian worldwide caliphate rules us all, i rather chose the rugged individualism of the west. The US has made some serious blunders, sure, like The american natives, Guantemala, Chile, Nicaragua, Iran, Vietnam and lately Iraq. But the system of this empire allows flexibility, and more important the possibility of its citizens to change to their leadership and ultimately the empire's policy. Iraq was the result of shortsidedness, greed, idealism and the pathetic misplaced sense of rightoussness that one nation of people suffered more than anyone else in this world, destined for help from our democratic supermen. But you guys voted for change, did you not?
  19. Which translation? Samuel B. Griffith. I have no idea on which is the 'best' translation.
  20. Hmm, i can't recall playing any really good games in 2008. None of the regular Fallout3/Left4Dead/Gears2/Fable2 weren't even interesting enough to warrant a purchase. Stalker/Bioshock/TheWitcher/MotB came out in 2007, so...i guess that my choice would be World of Goo.
  21. We're having a christmas party for our friends tonight. I'm set for an evening with booze, christmas candy, playing with the Wii and eating a lot of snacks. And oh,
  22. Bought: christmas presents for ~300 euros. + a 37" FullHD TV for myself Recieved: A new 22" FullHD LCD monitor, a Zoom G-2 (programmable) guitar effectbox for my 7-string, Sun Tzu's "The Art of War", DVD's and loads of chocolate. I guess that i broke even, excluding the TV that i bought for myself.
