  1. Nobel Peace price winner points fingers to Washington So, what will Obama do again?
  2. Anything more about this game? It might be something of interest.
  3. That's actually a pretty good review. While it didn't convince me to buy it, atleast i now understand the positives and negatives in plain 'ole dumbspeak.
  4. So....uh....um....tentacles. Riiiiight.
  5. one of my bosses from harris (i worked with 5 "bosses" and one other "employee" while at harris) used to call in to IT to complain about the computers. their response was always along the lines of "well, your engineers aren't complaining to us" and he snark back "yes, you're correct, they aren't because they're spending their time fixing the issues that weren't supposed to exist in the first place!" he was livid. Sounds pretty much like my job Currently, the process engineers aren't happy with the interface of their engineering tool and wishes to have it re-designed, which i have done the whole week. I am still waiting for the call: "You know what? the old one is still better. Lets just scrap the whole idea". Err, me fail english, that is unpossible I meant that i have to give a blood example today for the health exam that i have tomorrow. My employee wishes to have his software specialists (my title) in good shape!
  6. Hearing these stories makes me glad that my customers are only engineers. I took a blood sample today.
  7. DRM is in the best interest of the consumer. After all the consumers demanded it, right?
  8. Insert [dumbing down, consoles are for kiddies, decline of the PC, failure of the free market] here.

  10. For petes sake, how is saying "the issues are deeper and religious fundamentalism is but a menifestation of those issues" shoving anything under the carpet? It`s the exact opposite, saying islam is "barbaric" is doing that, in a very biggoted manner. There`s a billion muslims in much of the world, vest vast vast majority of them "moderate" by our standards. Head per head and % wise there are more orthodox jews than there are muslims lol. People that have a decent life generally do noot seek refuge in religious fundamentalism. How can that be not obvious? And yes human rights are our institution. Yet we can hardly go cryng foul play when we trample the rights and dignity of those very same people we say their reaction is simply due to rights being violated by Islam. Like I said, these rights and secular lifestyle is a domin of those that can "afford them". (Have you heard any of the american political speaches lately? They on average evoke God only 25% less than your average immam lol) When threathened, opressed, demonized and villified people turn to far wing ideologies. Give people a decent alternative. Sheria law is what cannon law is/was .Given the right circumstances it will "soften up" and/or be replaced with secular legislature. Has in Indonesia for instance. No denying it west leads the way in this (with churches battling it every inch of the way), but there is ZERO foundation to say "islam is too barbaric for it to work like that". And woe and behold, we just occupied the most secular state in ME. Whoopsie heh. Im sure its just Islams fault anyways. Those quarter of a billion perfect examples overe there are a fluke. Pile on the bombs. Having sex for virginity. What's your take on extremist buddhism?
  11. Lol whut? Millions of banks, telecommunication companies, software companies, bitTorrent trackers, ftp hosts and VPN users, seems to be doing fine. Sure every now and then some might get infected or are targets of an malicious attack, but on the whole, they seems to be doing just fine. With that alarmist attitude, do you even download windows service packs and updates? upload/download to a remote repository? connect to a yum server and download the latest binaries? work with a software that requires you to do an database export every now and then? (believe me, those exports are often ridicolously big). Download the latest update and patches for your games? For example, the updated music/movie patch for TSL was a whopping 2 GB. Are they all potential virii farms waiting to destroy your computer?
  12. Question: Aside from all the DRM bull, how is the performance? I heard some really nasty stuff about it, meaning horrendous no matter what.
  13. That just plainly sucks. It really stings in your pride when you're put on leave. But at least you are in a position where you can offer some expertice, so i am sure that you will find a new one soon. If you were a regular joe working on the assembly floor in a factory, then there might be some worry.
  14. I tried to make a difference between personal belief vs. religious dogma. Apparantly i failed. I do not think that Desmond Tutu and Mahatma Gandhi were as they were because of religion. Rather they acted out of a strong personal conviction on what is right, something that i firmly believe (hur-hur) that most people can do by instinct. They simply happened to be religious as well. Religion is just a manifistation of our great imagination.
  15. I somewhat understand Morgoth's bitterness to "K
  16. How about some sort of dance? Starting at 0:35, go!
  17. Now i understand why that there's a dislike for him on the republican side. It is understandable there's recentment against someone who lives by taking potshots on the fallacies of the other side of politics, instead of promoting ones own. Thank you P.S. I really dislike Coulter and Limbaugh. Moore is in the same league, but not as vile as the previous two. Also, the guy has a habit on tapping onto ones altruism, a softspot for many.
  18. Errr...There must be something more. Supporting universal healthcare and being against the Iraqi war isn't exactly something outlandish for the democratic platform. You said that he was a former comedian, did he pull one d*ckjoke too many for the social conservatives?
  19. A sad thing is happening at the moment in Finland: "Snus" is forbidden under some bizarre EU-rule to be sold in Finland (In Sweden, it is perfectly ok). Evidently, an underground blackmarket of "snus"-distributors emerged during the last years, with customers including, regular joes, judges, cops and alike. They actually "busted" a snus-ring and senteced the the guilty party to prison 2 and a half years in prison. In order to give some perspective on this matter, i will give some examples. - 48% of all convicted rape charges are convicted with a conditional release. Meaning, a fine and a slap on the wrist. - The rest of the rape charges are usually sentenced to around 18 months. - They have to pay 1 000 000 euro each in taxes on illegal substances. Note, if this would have been Crackcocaine, Marijuana or Heroin, there wouldn't have been any taxes, since they are of course, illegal substances. Moral of the story, you may rape and import drugs, but heaven forbid if you import substances that are legal in Sweden. Not only we will put you on maximum time in prison, we will also tax the living soul out of you. Words can't describe my rage.
  20. Who is this "Al Franken" that you guys are rambling about? Do not give wiki-links, rather describe in your own words what his policies and opinions are about.
  21. Strange really. Maybe the marketing department at Atari weren't even aware of it?
