  1. A proper turn based strategy game for galaxy scale. Could have real time tactical combat or not. I don't care as long as it has a pause. A new Holland flight sim. Failing that, a re-make of TIE Fighter. New Dark Forces/Jedi Knight game. It'd have to have a good engine, though. I was unimpressed by that Quake 3 stuff. Pretty enough, but bad gameplay. Of course, KotOR 3. A singleplayer RPG set on some other era might be good enough consolation.
  2. There has been all sorts of Star Trek RPGs over the years. I still have that old FASA's TOS based one, heh.
  3. Hmm, they certainly are ambitious, I give them that, even if I don't much care about that "everything must be voice acted" policy even in SP games. They are actually doing a pretty good job convincing me that this one might be different from all the other MMOs I've tried and hated. I still doubt I try it unless I get a lot of people I trust swearing that this one is different and great. I just don't like the genre.
  4. Jedi: Kyle Katarn He's the Chuck Norris of the SW universe. The true reason for Rule of Two is that Kyle Katarn decided to keep a breeding pair. And so on. Sith: Exar Kun Because a whiny guy with a pony tail is still cooler than those tattooed bald guys or those mask wearing types. He has a cool facial scar too.
  5. Hmm yes, I'm one of those who has hardly ever has misplaced anything. There's one or two CD's that got destroyed, but that is not a lot out of all the games I have. Worst loss I guess was Star Control 2 and that's available for free these days. Steam crashed for me once and somehow scrambled the log in so much that I had to contact their support to unravel it. Luckily they fixed it fast. So I'm one of those who perfer to buy physical copies and consider Steam an annoyance. Tolerable compared to the invasive DRM methods, but still an annoyance. On the other hand, I have been buying some smaller PnP roleplaying sourcebooks on pdf form for some time now. I don't feel like I need physical copies of those. I'm weird.
  6. And flying pirate ships made of gold, or maybe a new superweapon that can wipe out whole star clusters at once. I love EU on the whole, but even I admit that there is lots of parts that suck. But hey, even canon has parts that suck.
  7. My favorite PnP system at the moment, though I don't play much these days. At one point I got the impression that at SJGames they were interested of branching off to the MMORPG scene, but that was some time ago. Wonder what happened to that plan. Not that I like MMORPGs.
  8. Of course the Marvel SW had space pirate ships and lightwhips 15 years before that comic, but that was before EU and I think they did the lightwhip well. EU started with Zahn's books, though most of the earlier stuff was adapted in it too, often heavily retconned. It wasn't organised before EU.
  9. The final battle was hard for my party that didn't have proper spellcaster levels, just an orc warpriest and yuan-ti hellfire warlock. The key for me was to neutralise the hierophant with his buffs, heals and save or dies as soon as possible. Herald wasn't so hard to deal with without him and the other guys were just mooks. Due to the nature of my party, the mindflayer guy wasn't as hard as the final battle. Not easy perhaps, but manageable.
  10. Worse, it belongs to Farfalla and his merry band of furry Jedi. Furries ruin everything. That comic had a style of its own and I still kind of liked the story. Had to look past the silly things a lot, though.
  11. It's Star Wars, meaning there's always going to be a some kind of war going on... At least on any era they'll write about. That's just the nature of the universe. Battletech is similar in this regard. Any peace they find isn't going to last.
  12. "Balance" can be interpreted as many things. I think Lucas meant that destroying the Sith would mean balance, but we don't like to listen to him about everything, do we? The EU certainly didn't like to keep the Sith dead. Superweapons: Looked like there was a some sort of one-upmanship about those. There's the World Devastators, gigantic space vacuum cleaners, though not as cool as the MegaMaid ("Mine is the most efficient.") Then there's the Sun Crusher ("Mine can blow up stars, is indestructible and pilotable by one person"), Galaxy Gun ("This one can blow up planets across the galaxy without having to move") and the Centerpoint Station ("Oh yeah? Mine can blow up stars without having to move!") Early SW RPG adviced to use grand schemes. "Don't blow up a bridge, blow up a planet." Those writers certainly listened to that advice. Besides the Sun Crusher, KJA had the Sith blowing up stars in the comics.
  13. The whole One Sith thing was simply a tie-in to the Legacy comic series, I'm guessing. They didn't really serve a purpose in LotF. That's SW EU for you, always trying to make sure that the stories match and having some shout outs.
  14. Mid-90s superweapon craze and the silliest ones produced by that, most of the stuff by Tom Veitch and Kevin J. Anderson (he did invent a few cool characters tho), Legacy comics somewhat, though I don't really care outside about 0-40ABY and some of the Old Republic stuff. I mostly liked NJO and LotF, though the NR era I love most.
  15. Always Korriban and never Ziost... IIRC, Korriban was originally just the planet where they buried their Dark Lords pharaoh style, but it got inflated in the follow up stories. All the future Sith wannabes doing their pilgrimage there. Of course, the second or third generation Sith can have their capital whereever they want. I always like looking at maps, no matter how imaginary they are.
  16. Not a big issue for me either. Just like infinite ammo, regenerating health is pretty action movieish. It fits much better in that kind of setting than collecting magic turkey legs to regain health. I'd hate to see it in multiplayer, but I won't mind it in single player.
  17. They are fast with their knee-jerk reactions of banning handguns, those politicians. Should focus on the real problems. What causes this behaviour in the first place? I don't mind making those licences harder to get, but the real problem is people. They'll find ways to kill people if they want. Have they forgotten the Myyrmanni bombing already?
  18. Horrible, couldn't even wait one year after last shooting. Winland indeed. Suicide is nothing new here, but this extended suicide sickens me. Don't think any of these shootings have been done with a hunting rifle. It's always some recently acquired .22 pistol. For rubberneckers: http://kimmo.org/kauhajoki/
  19. They be boring options. I'd fly the Love Commander maybe.
  20. Yes, certainly in my top 10 games of all time. Probably top 3. I think I have spent more time on it than on any other game. Pretty good for a free mod.
  21. Yes, old news. Seen those over 10 years ago and knew about them longer. Nicely put together, though. IIRC, the story goes that someone said to GL that it would be a bad idea to introduce Luke so late in the film, so he filmed these bits. In the end, he stuck with his original plan to just follow the droids Hidden Fortress style.
  22. Hmm, all I remember about this game is that they were supposed to do Jedi Knight II and they did this console game instead. Of course there was Jedi Outcast later, but that was on Quake III engine, which I dislike.
  23. For me, classless system all the way, levelless too. I tend to think that the main reason for coming up with classes in the first place is keeping it simple and manageable, which is somewhat necessary for PnP rules. However, I used to wonder why so many CRPGs insist on having classes and levels even when they are not using D&D system even though a computer is capable of handling complex rules. Well, they still need to be simple for the player and levelups are good for the reward aspect. Still, the rules could be complicated 'under the hood' while the things player really needs to know are kept relatively simple. I'd like to see a good learn by doing experience system, if such thing is even possible. Keep trying, says I.
  24. eh rezes contun and doesn't afraid of anything. I don't know. I try not to think about them unless and until they actually release something. Pointless to get hyped over nothing. Not flaming or anything, that's just what I think.
  25. IWD was a funnier game to co-op because there wasn't a chosen one plot to get in the way of roleplaying. Actually just silly in-character"talk, but I call it roleplaying.
