  1. Heh, intepretation can really be subjective, it seems. It looks definitely like a hit for me with that explosion thing going on. In the next panel we see it missing, but I assume it just fired again. Later on, we indeed see some (transport?) ships blown up, but wether the BWD's manage to do this with one shot or not is again a matter of intepretation. I'm inclined to believe that it took more than 1 shot to blow up that ship sending a distress message, but on the other hand, it's not rare for people to speak unrealistically long lines at an eyeblink in comic books.
  2. Weren't they pushing the germans back at fair pace already by the time western front was opened, though?
  3. Nobody's saying that the western contribution was meaningless... at least I hope nobody is thinking such foolishness. However, it was the Russians who did the most of the fighting. They were completely unprepared for the german invasion, thanks to Stalin, but they got their act together eventually and then pushed the invaders back all the way back to Berlin. Unfortunately they also took casualties to show for it. Of those Soviet men born in 1923, only some 20% lived to see 1946, I have heard
  4. Yes, I remembered it wrong. Firespray-class is a Kuat design. The MandalMotors design was Slave II that appeared on that silly Dark Empire comic. Got confused by that. I find it hard to believe that that "zzzrrrrchh-gun" would even pierce Virago's shields with one shot. It certainly failed to do that for Nebulon Ranger. I'm okay with TSL using Virago like ship for BWD, even if it's little odd. I just like arguing about Virago vs Molelobster. Internet has finally turned me into a troll, it seems.
  5. Yay, another molelobster/virago thread. Virago would blow the stupid thing right out of the sky. And yes, it's a MandalMotors ship, just like Slave 1 (IIRC). There must be some kind of conspiracy there. The excuse for wings folding out for combat is probably making the shields work better and having maneuver thrusters on wingtips. The real reason, of course, is that it looks cooler that way.
  6. Ah yeah, the Nazi Nuke. If true, it would definitely had some impact. It's true that it was very bad for Germany to fail to take out the Britain before they went off to fight the Soviet Union. That left a dangerous enemy on the rear to guard against, especially with U. S. war aid. Too bad for them that they didn't have a chance of beating the Royal Navy and failed to beat the Royal Air Force as well. That made invasion impossible.
  7. It would be gross exaggeration to say that western allies had nothing to do with it, but the Soviets were the ones who really beat Germany.
  8. I think the more "serious" games are generally considered part of EU storyline at least roughly as long as they don't contradict anything. Even if they do so partially, EU might still adopt the parts that don't.
  9. So TSL is too good to be Star Wars? I think TSL doesn't feel like "Canonical Star Wars", but it fits the "EU Star Wars" category.
  10. I seem to recall Thrawn constantly beating the New Republic with all sorts of unconventional moves right up to the point he got stabbed by his Noghri bodyguard. His underlings repeatedly failed to catch the heroes, though. Thrawn is probably my favorite SW villain... among EU cast at least. He has class.
  11. The countrymen always ruin the gig. Now get back on topic or I'll Force Scratch your furniture.
  12. Hah, Dark Forces II beats all these newfangled Quake 3 engined Jedi Knights easily. Of course, it could also be that my hate of Quake 3's bad support for my rather eccentric choice of controls clouds my judgement. JA almost fixed it, but only for X-axis. Curses! Well, DF2 had cutscenes with live actors too.
  13. Those aren't Jedi, they're figments of poor imaginations <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That description arguably applies to the Jedi that are in the poll aswell. Heh, but Kyle as the great Jedi? Can't help thinking about that Diary of a Crazed Mimbanite strip where Kyle says "I found a lightsaber in a garage, and that makes me a Jedi!" Those TotJ creatures are not that impressive either.
  14. You are correct. In PnP RPG the dark side classes are Prestige Classes. You can't start as one.
  15. Yes, this made me smile too. Not the funniest thing ever, but good nevertheless.
  16. Oh, the Darth discussion again. Let me repeat some old points that haven't come up in this thread yet. Sion: Obscure meaning for the word is noise. That would fit his pain aspect. Revan: Revenant is pretty descriptive, but alternate meaning is stubbornness.
  17. Renaming them to .mp3's is the best way in my experience. The many variations of Force theme, Imperial March... these are the obvious ones. I have grown fond of some obscure ones, such as Shuttle Tydirium Approaches Endor. Perhaps I heard that one too many times in Dark Forces 2. Overall, ESB has the best music. While talking about non-Williams Star Wars music, I should mention Joel McNeely's SotE soundtrack. Not all of it is good, but there's some good themes in it.
  18. Ewoks are actually what remains of the True Sith. Endor is the lost colony that Jedi never found. They used their sith alchemy to transform themselves into most horrible forms they could imagine and what we see in RotJ is the result. Of course Lucas had to ruin it by not showing their true cannibalistic nature properly.
  19. It is a little known fact that the Death Star 2 wasn't actually destroyed in the end of ROTJ. That was just an ewok force illusion. Death Star will be back and this time it will throw rocks at planets. Yub yub.
  20. I think the Miraluka first appeared on TOTJ comics, but can't be sure. Well, you could check the comic on the bottom of this page.
  21. Oh yes, I'm a foolish Obsidian fanboi who is stupid enough to actually like the game. Good thing there's the true fanatics like global to tell sycophants like me what the 'facts' are and how the intelligent people and critical thinkers think. They are truly the heroes of the Internet.
  22. Heh, don't like the Cathar? The thing is that they are not even the only catlike race in the EU. There's also the Trianii, Togorians and probably some other one shot appearances I don't remember/know about. Cat aliens must be one of the more common cheesy clich
  23. Yeah, TOTJ had a double 'saber first. Not a very practical one, but it was there. I wouldn't be so sure about that. I suspect that he would have written some really silly and lame stuff for OT if he had the same kind of freedom as he now has with the prequels. Back then he was limited by the technology and forced to be more creative and I suspect people around him dared to argue more. Now he can just vomit CGI on the screen and not think about it.
