  1. Tried the trial once. Seemed as bad as MMORPGs in general. Never looked back. I hear it used to be better before they simplified it, but I doubt I'd liked it any better back then.
  2. Yes, K2 has much better story, unfinished as it might be. I couldn't even bring myself to make a K1 dark side playthrough, while it was interesting enough in K2 for a goody two shoes like me to play a bad guy. K1 is pretty much the usual good vs bad with often used twist, while K2 is on more personal level and makes you think. ANH vs ESB is a pretty apt comparison. Both games are too monty haul, though.
  3. Yes there's beenmore than one of them over the years, I'd like a good TBS 4x game instead. I think Rebellion was supposed to be TBS originally, but then they decided to go with the flow and made it real time instead.
  4. I don't think that there's much doubt that there would be even more epic levels and probably continuation to KC story both thanks to popular demand. Personally I'd prefer resources being used for something more worthwhile, but I'm sure they'll make a good story even with munchkin levels. I just hope that attention will pe paid to things that will ensure the longevity of the game also. I'm not in the habit of playing OCs through very many times. I need my custom content and better support for it means more of it.
  5. Hmm, that worth boasting about crossing the Uncanny Valley, I think. Omikron 2 would be more interesting to me, though.
  6. Finally there is an AirBuccaneers server again and some players to play with. Oh how I've missed the feeling of steering a battleship with a good crew and sending enemy after enemy down to their fiery deaths. Definitely a reason to keep the old UT2004 installed.
  7. That name won a contest, btw. They let the readers suggest names for the new Sith lord. For original question, I like the second one better.
  8. man ply wit this jawa ting and you eventuly get the logik mayb: http://www.cut-the-knot.org/recurrence/hanoi.shtml When someone ask about that puzzle, I always like to link to that or some similar game instead of just giving the answer. "Give a man a fish..." and so on...
  9. True, the Sith are darksiders and often former Jedi, but not all Dark Jedi or darksiders are Sith. And for most powerful... Darth Vectivus, the middle manager Sith beats everybody. Here's some Darth names for you: http://blogs.starwars.com/holocron/28
  10. Hmm, UT3... that's a somewhat complicated case for me. The demo was a horrible blurfest for my somewhat aged machine, but I hear the final game is somewhat better optimized. Anyways, I'm not at least bit interested in another bazooka tag, no matter how good it looks. However, there is a chance that there will be a new Air Buccaneers mod for it. If that happens, I will be all over the game and upgrade my hardware for it if necessary. It has always been the mods that make these games for me. This time I won't buy the game before I know there will be good mods, though. Source engine has been somewhat dissapointing in that regard. Distraction is still not out.
  11. Heh, I'm never "that guy." I generally love it when they mix up stuff some think separate so I was being defensive. My players seemed to like the magic side of the game more, btw. For the old Mechwarriors, the only one I really got into was 2 and it's expansions, especially Mercenaries. 3 was pretty good, but not as exciting... must have been the atmosphere. 4 seemed boring. I tried 1 once at friend's place, but never owned it.
  12. Hmm yeah, FASA was always very good at making backstories. I used to really love the Battletech universe. Shadowrun's fantasy-cyberpunk genre jam sounds a bit silly as concept, but they made it work. It really deserves a proper CRPG. I'm less familiar with Crimson Skies, but I played the computer game, which was pretty good, and I love airships.
  13. Yes, we are spread out and would need lots of more members to make a viable team. The ping is variable thing. For example, it seems that the best NZ (which is the most "other side of world" for me) servers have better ping than some worse Californian ones. It's a shame that Steam's built in server browser is so basic. I like to check on server settings and stuff before I join the game. Now I have to use Game-Monitor for that and it's a clumbersome thing.
  14. So I'm player of the week... How embarrassing since I'm supposed to be busy right now... Nothing like my Action Half-Life binges back in 1999-2000, though. Yeah, I think getting an own server wouldn't be advisable at this point. First step would be trying to get some arranged playing times and then simply join some suitable server. I've been trying to keep an eye on the friends-list, but ppl on this group are very rarely in game and then it's some far east server I'd get 400 ping on.
  15. I'm very busy right now so if my turn comes around and nothing seems to happen, don't bother to wait too long. Just skip me.
  16. Well, originally he was a short story by Kevin J. Anderson, someone I avoid like plague now, and a comic about flying golden pirate ships, lightwhips and furry jedi. No Revan. Ignoring that silliness and pseudo-medieval trappings, that comic is pretty good, but I guess Drew Karpyshyn transforms that story into something less sily.
  17. In some early versions of ESB script, Lando was supposed to be a clone. The official EU take on stormtroopers these days seems to be that some of them are clones and some are not in GCW era. Maybe it's more cost effective or whatever to train ordinary people and they live longer than the forced-growth clones. Justifies the numerous earlier stories of human stormies and academies while keeping the cool clones around to be elite troops or whatever. Maybe the different writers just disagree on this.
  18. I'd say that the time to settle those areas is now. I'd done something about them, but there was a war on (that's an amazingly good excuse.) Now is the rebuilding and rearming phase between wars and settling fits that, I think.
  19. I agree. I could live with first and last of the series being like that, but some random middle parts? It looks silly.
  20. Actually Ethiopian missionaries have been busy and we do have one religion in our cities. I sometimes try to get 3 or more religions to bigger cities if I have spare resources to spend on missionaries. Maybe another reason I like FR so much.
  21. Well yeah, could have switched to Confucianism and then to Theocracy... but as I said, I like that civic. I've always been a science hog in these games and even the tiny 10% feels appealing. Might be better to do pacifism and get GP to lightbulb techs, but I'm too lazy to micromanage all the specialists. There's also the happiness thing and not making all the hindus so angry as I said. Better to fight them one at the time.
  22. Very well, you conviced me. My screenies got corrupted for some reason, but I made some notes: 159 - Must get macemen right now. Got Civil Service for Machinery from Elizabeth. 160 - Build 7 triremes quest. Don't think it's worthwhile. Our glorious armies conquered Babylon in a near-suicidal charge. Lost the catapults, but otherwise the army performed well. One axemen unit that won against the odds got renamed Vault Dwellers. The city was later renamed as Urquhartburg. 163 - Zara Yaqob no longer wants our horses. Got him to take gold instead. We need that silk to keep our people happy and productive for the war. 165 - Great Library of Peragus is finished and the city can go back to pumping out military units. 166 - Switched to Free Religion. Should make the hindus less annoyed of us and I like that civic. 169 - Lost 2 units in a foolish expedition to cut off their horses. Should just have kept using that spy to do that. 174 - Tech trade with Zara Yaqob. Philosophy and Drama for Guilds... Trying to get Liberalism first here. 175 - A Great Artist was born at Peragus. Sent to culture bomb Urquhartburg. Might have played 1 round too many, but it's beginning of round and units are not moved. Continued the plan to make Port Avellone a GP farm. God_Emperor_Feargus_AD_1190.zip
  23. Thanks, but I think I rather stay on advisary role at this point. It makes me look smart without risks. Maybe later after the war. Oh and whatever the next player(s) do, don't raze Babylon. It seems to have some nice wonders. Rename it to Sigil or something after capture.
  24. Really depends on how it's made long. Some mandatory time sink or exploring a lot of carbon copy dungeons for no real reason will annoy me. I rather play a shorter game than be forced to endure those.
