  1. Today
  2. I have no idea what he's saying; something about a wine gal. But he sounds good as always.
  3. Yesterday
  4. Ace Frehley
  5. Ugh I see posts like this and I hate this company more and more. How can you let such a big issue go for so long? I’m trying to “fix” the fact I can’t even use their shared world system and I just bought the game. I’ll be avoiding this developer in the future.
  6. Just annoyance and having to do stuff that I don't think is necessary, really. Give them an inch and then we end up needing to have our toasters authenticate with the cloud to enable the bagel toasting setting.
  7. I'm really hoping this turn-based update, and whatever's included in it, could be a Halloween treat instead of a trick!
  8. Depends on game mode and/or custom settings. One of those games where there's the default pre-set modes, but there's like 3 screens of difficulty game settings and you can mix/match as you wish It's a giant sandbox - once you figure out what you like, you can do it almost exclusively if you wish. There are predator type fauna that will attack - but not all fauna will. Or you can set them to be defensive only so they only attack if you attack/hit them first. Or never at all. You can turn on-foot and ship combat off/minimal/standard/hostile, which has affects on planet/space sentinel hostility conditions and certain system warp random encounter stuff. That said, outside of very early game, most of isn't really much threat. As to base building - if you don't want to ever build a base, you don't really have to, outside of any quest, or a weather/temperature shelter. Some ppl go super all out on bases ofc. It can be fun but is has no purpose (don't need to defend etc). Most of the time I just build 1-2 prefab room shelters with a few crafting/storage tools in them and that's about it. You could also disable the ability to alter difficulty settings entirely (can't change on the fly). Very wide, not very deep.
  9. There is a story, and it does lead to some conflict with these robot things. But it is mostly exploring and resource management.
  10. 1 dlc in 1 year not exactly fill player base with confidence
  11. I have no idea, sorry. I only did the one playthrough with the mage. The game has a whole bunch of options to tune combat, in addition to several presets. You can just drop enemy health to low and turn off death if you don't want to bother with the combat too much.
  12. Is there ever any hostile fauna or flora? Or is the point of the game just base building?
  13. NMS - Started Abandoned Mode save #8. --found a good A class Interceptor ship, certain type of multi-tool, maxed carry inventory, hit a certain amount of units/nanite currency, purchased all upgrade/craft stuff, and looted/scavenged enough tech-upgrade modules to make it all decent gear wise. --since planet/system you start in is different each time, any of those aspects could be easier, or harder, to achieve (especially tech modules in Abandoned Mode), so a bit of variety in that way. Sometimes it takes 30ish hrs, sometimes it takes 60+ hours. I see/scour a lot of cool planets, caves (terrain and water), pretty lagoons, vast oceans. But then I reach that point where the ship/gear/all that set up is done and ... the methodical task oriented part of the save is gone. And apparently all I want lately is to obsessively "zone out." Starting Abandoned Mode save #9 ...
  14. That depends way too much on your class and your choice of weapons. I played a mage and thought the 2-handed playstyle was slow, unresponsive and not fun to play, so I switched to dagger/orb Spellblade and never looked back, stacking burn, shock and arcane bombs while zipping around the battlefield was very satisfying. Rounded the build out with some burst damage attacks, and it was a hoot and a half to play. At least it was for me, but I like high dps glass cannon characters whose only defense is high mobility and good cooldown management. There's a reason I tend to play sorcerers in Diablo IV and used the Stinger in Everspace 2. But yeah, game is definitely too long. The mage's ranged playstyle with the staff and the entire Control tree is probably also a leftover from the days where you were supposed to have actual players keeping the attention of the enemies, instead of semi-braindead AI companions. Interesting. So is there any melee build available that is high DPS but not a glass cannon?
  15. I definitely agree with Obsidian being the S-tier games. Bit surprised the Pathfinder games aren't lower, and Wasteland is a bit low for my tastes. But overall I agree with most of it. It would be interesting to see this with the FPS RPG's like Skyrim, Kingdom Come, and Avowed.
  16. For gaming, I don't really care unless it's an offline game, because then I'm questioning why I have to log on. For what made me this way, I give you the NBA 2k series, in which each new edition was more and more online until now, where it's basically a requirement (if not one in fact at this point) even if you never touch multiplayer modes. The offline game has been gutted and has been stripped of features to "encourage" online play where they can sell you stuff and show you more ads. Oh, and if you lose connection while playing the game dumps you out without even saving your progress.
  17. Just to be clear, I've never done Xbox, never owned one, don't even like their controllers. It's just all more signs of the way tech and near monopolistic corps and own nothing etc. is going - or at least the direction they would like to force everyone to be going - which includes the game industry. It all makes me Crabby.
  18. Had a couple ideas and a few thoughts: First, the Recruit ability of the Soldier Ant is mostly useless since a Worker Ant in combat is little more than a distraction. Instead, I propose that recruiting a Worker increases hauling capacity by having them automatically pickup Stems and Grass Planks and other loose resources within a set radius, and depending on context, will place them in a pile, place them in available pallets, or carry them themselves. This is achieved by replacing the Recruit ability with a 'Place (Pheromone) Marker'. In addition, Worker Ants are hatched in the Hatchery, and each player can have a maximum of 3 Workers. Each Worker can carry the same amount as the Soldier, so when taking into account the Soldier (12+1), Eco Exploitation (+10), Worker's Comp (+3), and the Pallet exploit (+22/24), a single player can carry up to 86 Stems/Planks per run, as opposed to 50 currently. The process could work as follows: 1) With Workers in tow, the Soldier places a Marker in the area to be harvested. 2) As the player chops down grasses and stems, the Workers collect them, placing them in their carried Pallets, then at the Marker location in a pile. 3) When the Marker is removed or the Player exits the Marker radius, the Workers will stop collecting and follow the Player. Next, I'd like to see truly vertical Ziplines to function as elevators in bases, similar to that meme of Patrick Star getting yanked by a fishhook: Finally, I'd like a kind of mushroom based plaster decoration that can be placed over walls and under floors and ceilings. This replaces a single side of the structure object, kind of like how the Pine Walls now have a version with and without the bark side. You could take this a step further by being able to paint the plaster different colors and have various texture patterns, such as squares, lines, and whorls in the plaster. A few other thoughts I had were to allow the chopping of otherwise unremovable debris and other plants such as fallen leaves, thistles, and overhanging large stems. For me in particular, my base is under construction at the SW Oak Tree, and the roots it is nestled between have a couple thistles, various dead leaves on the ground, and a very large half broken large plant that cannot be removed. I figure that for the thistle and large plant, the stumps will remain, and in the case of the former, can still produce needles, albeit in a much reduced capacity. To prevent or restore regrowth of these features, you can place salt on the stump to prevent regrowth, and use water from a canteen to wash it away.
  19. For me, I don't want to give them something for nothing. What will I gain by connecting my Windows to an account. They need to actually offer something worthwhile for doing that.
  20. You misunderstand, at least in my case. I don't mind needing internet for gaming - if the online is needed for a gameplay function. Like playing with a net friend who lives in another state/country etc. Or downloading a digital game onto my drive. Kinda need the internet. Most of the time, games that require always online, I have zero interest in anyway. What I do mind is a company deciding I need to be online for a reason that is not specifically game circumstances required - like it's SP (or it's SP but online req. because they're too lazy or too telemetry or store app focused to create a SP/offline function). Nor would I wish to have to be "online" and login to Microsoft just to play Dungeon Keeper on my PC. --I don't mind if online/app is used for some gadget/device/service that no one really "needs." Those vacuum donuts, ringcams, house remote controls, whatever else. Do what one wants, use what one wants, up to individual. although I think people getting too used to/emotionally dependent on that stuff breeds ... well, Wall-E comes to mind. But that's very subjective/just me. --I do mind if companies start wanting to make online/app required to access something like a dishwasher cycle, a fridge setting, a car feature you paid for but can't access without online. This is what many companies seem to be trying to get people used to - almost grooming the public in some strange way - and I refuse to get used to it. I will wash my dishes by hand before resorting to this sort of nonsense. Pretty soon you won't be able to flush your toilet without being subbed to some flush-switch online-bootup for your bathroom waste disposal "device". And then there's Microsoft possibly trying to prep people re: needing to online-login to your O/S, just so you can utilize your separately purchased photo editing program, which is not ok. And more likely, it's all a precursor to then eventually making Windows a monthly pay service O/S.
  21. Vance's defense, and thus MAGA, is that they are edgy kids. Well or Democrats said worse. Look at the proscribed groups and honestly argue Palestine Action fits in.
  22. I guess it's a sign, Epic Store installer is erroring out. Both the standalone and MS store...
  23. I ask this every couple year because I just dont get it, but what you guys resistance to login/always online while gaming? Several parts of my general life are already "always online" that I dont even think about it anymore. My phone is waiting breathlessly for me to utter "Siri" (or anything close apparently), my little Google pucks all over my house are waiting for me to say "ok Google", hell even the digital picture frame on my fireplace mantle is always connected to a cloud somewhere. Maybe its a data transfer limit for you all? Ive never once run up against mine so thats not a factor. You feel theyre snooping? I know someone will trot out "what about if the internet is down", and I guess that situationally valid, but cmon how often is that?
  24. Yeah heard about that. Although I also saw some ppl posting new workarounds already. I don't really care much re: having to account register for the initial install permission or something but always having to login/online to that account for everything Windows related would suck gopher butt. I made a MS account re: Win10 but I honestly don't recall what I had to do with it. I know I used it once and haven't "logged" into it since, for anything, including the once or twice when I did Windows updates. I'm not sure I even know what my MS account is at this point. It helps I never use/never even clicked once on any MS specific programs/apps (gamepass, edge, store, etc). I figure for me it'll be like Win7 to Win10 - I'll use Win10 for 2-3 more years and then have to decide what I'm doing when building a new PC. I still don't think LInux would be my thing, but I feel more and more like I don't have a choice. Maybe I'll convert old PC to Linux for certain stuff, use Win11 NASA pc for gaming stuff only. Edit: heck I still have my old Win7 PC. Maybe I'll just go back to that/old programs/games and stay offline forever *echo-voice* and ever and ever and ever. Edit: the one nice thing about being older right now is I won't have to live as long with all this AI/own-nothiing brave new world. 2nd Edit: also, I'm still Crabby. Life is kind of sucky right now. Oh well.
  25. https://nypost.com/2025/10/15/us-news/swastika-pictured-inside-ohio-congressman-dave-taylors-office/ "Stop calling them nazis!111" yeah yeah.
