The All Things Political Topic - What's Going On...?
Elerond replied to Lexx's topic in Way Off-Topic
Kirk was awulf debater that always pivots to new point when his opponent ask difficult question. It is bad faith debating meant only to market their own points. Sadly that seems to be the style of debating that people like to watch instead of actually trying to find actual merit in the topics. World did not lose anything with him, and he himself agrees with that and to honor his views we should not waste any empathy to him or anyone to close to him, it is what he would want. -

Kirk was a poor debater who constantly pivoted to new points whenever faced with difficult questions. His style was rooted in bad faith, serving only to market his own views rather than engage with the actual substance of the discussion. Unfortunately, this kind of shallow performance is exactly what many people seem to enjoy, rather than seeking genuine merit in the topics themselves. The world lost nothing with his passing. By his own words and attitude, he would not want empathy wasted on him or those close to him—and honoring that wish is the most fitting response. -

He fundamentally believed in the grift and the money that accompanied it. I'm just suggesting that we should treat his death by the same standards he treated others. He also didn't believe in empathy, so the people who are now sad about his death are just betraying the values Kirk stood for. -

The stairs dont really fit each other and there is an edge cant get over while walking up. The game crashes if you create to much for example armor The walls and stairs etc. needs to be able to fit all angles to fit every 45 degree -

Sure but thats the point Im trying to explain He didnt " own the Libs ", thats just the silly reference that people use on SM and thats part of the problem with the nature of this type of debate. People want to align with one side or another and not listen to what the other person is saying or how they make there points If you want to see how he interacted with young people and why they enjoyed engaging with him watch the video, the young women is a liberal and believes in women's rights\feminism in a very normal way and she asks excellent questions and makes good points and clearly is well informed Its only 15 minutes but it will give you a better understanding of Charlie Kirk and why he was popular amongst young people on both sides of the aisle -
Well, of course my skill likely has improved. All the platforming and jumping off of objects helped greatly. But it 100% is also related to boss design. For example, I'm faring *a lot* better with anything that does not have random elements in it. That means, apparent random movement changes (Moorwing hovering lower from one moment to the next, without telegraphing it), or spawning extra mobs which also move randomly. There is more luck involved than skill. Sister Splinter for example felt really easy to me - her movements were super predictable. Yet I still had to repeat it a few times, just because those stupid mobs (that also deal 2 dmg each), felt completely random. The widow took me a bit, but only because phase 2 was so extremely fast and the screen was cluttered with objects which distracted me a lot. Worth to mention: Cogwork dancers was a great boss fight. 100% systemic, even at high speed. Reminded me a lot of the Mantis Lords from HK, which I also liked a lot. tl;dr - the one thing that I struggled the most with was the random in early game. Mid-game so far doesn't have a lot of bosses with random crap, at least as far as I have experienced so far.

I don't want to dismiss all of it as bad stuff of course, but I still refuse to watch it, because I just don't want to give them clicks for their "owning the libs"-type content. This is purely based on my experience with this type of content from a few years back. Maybe it was just lots of bad examples, or just the garbage that went viral. /Edit: Funny thing said by Charlie Kirk:

Yeah, Moorwing was the only thing so far to which I died more than couple of time. I think Team Cherry are working on nerfing him a bit, as well as some other early game bits. Still, I don’t see what the fuss is about. Most enemies build on the same archetypes. Late game is definitely harder, but skill set from early encounters carries over. Are you sure something just didn’t click for you as to how the game works?

It created this whole genre of movies and at the time was something completely new. But when you look at plot, character depth (wet footprint stepping out of the shower), weeeell we had seen better even then. And when you compare it to the James Bond movies that came after, when the movie makers knew this was something people wanted, you can see how much more effort they started putting in for those. -

I dont know if they are stupid because he provided a platform and medium where students could engage on issues I cant recall many people shouting in the videos, people disagreed with him and then they debated certain points. The ones I watched were almost always the same, students asked him questions on his views and he clarified why he believed what he believed He was always calm and he use to listen but he generally made the same counter arguments on the issues that were raised Here is just one example, like I said I didnt watch hundreds of his debates but this is a good example of the nature of how he engaged and his belief in freedom of speech . Its only 15 minutes, the female student he is engaging is really well informed, disagrees with him and yet really enjoys the debate. This is the type of debate Kirk created and its lacking in most of our societies. Its not about who " won " or " lost ", both of them made good points (and again ignore the YT title, the actual debate is much more nuanced than that ) -
They are stupid and don't know better. It's mostly just bad faith arguments anyways, or who shouts over the other louder. At least that's what I remember from Crowder back in the days. Not feeling the mood to look into that again.

Yet dozens of students use to come out to debate him? I think its much better to encourage debate like this than to shut it down The YT titles are often sensationalized and stupid, " Kirk OWNS\Destroys Liberal\Woke student " but I use to ignore that and just listen to the debate He never use to "destroy " anyone, he made his points and then the students use to agree or disagree -

Yes he did believe that, its not as insensitive as you suggesting and he clarified this on several occasions and he had ideas around how to reduce gun violence But he fundamentally believed in the 2nd Amendment Millions of Americans do and its unfortunate we conflate the rampant gun violence and its causes in the US with the right to bear arms -
I really hate those campus debates. You beat a student in some bait political topic? Wow, good job! And then they placate it all over the internet to show how their ideology is superior while cutting out all the scenes that make them look bad. Already hated wife-beater Steven Crowder back when he did it. Those people do nothing but rile up people and I have no sympathy whatsoever left for them.

The Charlie Kirk killing is really unfortunate and sad , he had 2 young kids and its yet another example of the rampant gun violence in the US and how some extremists on the left and right believe the best solution if you disagree with someone politically is to kill them I watched several of his Campus debates and as usual with this type of commentator I agreed and disagreed with him on different topics But he was very good at engaging with young people and lots of young people on both sides of the political aisle use to debate him It will interesting to see who shot him when he is caught because it could be an extremist from any one of several groups because Kirk would have angered several different groups of people that could include anti-Israel group pro-Palestinian group BLM group Radical Left group Neo-Nazi group Mentally unbalanced person -

Charlie who? Well my sympathies for his family. The radical right live in their own alternate version of reality, so I'm not expecting much reliable information about this event from them. Hopefully the legal investigation is more productive. -

It's rated very high on the rotten tomato meter, so I guess most critics don't agree with you. It is, of course, pretty culturally dated at this point, but that's also interesting from a historical perspective. -
Simplest explanation is that the drones GPS (/glonass) got mucked around with. Similar situation to the Ukrainian drone that hit near Tartu a couple of weeks ago (with basically no fanfare). The Ukrainians certainly were able to muck around with glonass for a bit since that was why the number of glide bomb videos from the Russians dropped right off for a couple of months, and if there's anything that would still be using vulnerable transceivers it's junker gerans.

People shouldn't die for their beliefs. But I also think people's automatic response to schoolchildren getting murdered on the regular ideally shouldn't be saying absolutely psychotic **** like i t ' s s o m e t h i n g w e ' r e j u s t g o i n g t o h a v e t o a c c e p t b e c a u s e f r e e a c c e s s t o g u n s f o r a l l a l w a y s n o m a t t e r w h a t. . . especially if it's not actually your friends or family that are the ones being sacrificed by and for this mad, sick country. Like, talk about being hoisted by your own petard in a nasty fit of cosmic vengeance. The only country where this happens, and we've tried almost nothing to prevent it, and the little we have tried has been stupid and misguided, and it's all only going to get worse - especially as people are increasingly impoverished, isolated, radicalized, and deranged. Increasingly, I think the U.S. might well be facing something its own version of Ireland's The Troubles over the next decade or two... It's not going to be pretty.
