  2. Speaking of Ken Russell, I saw Lair of the White Worm recently for the first time. As is often true with Russell's films its a better film than its reputation would lead you to believe, even if I think Russell's final joke at the end doesn't really pay off.

  6. When clicking the video above, Youtube greeted me with the ultimate irony: Playing a credit loan kind of ad first. So, basically NextGen advertising: The more you loan, the more you buy. The more you buy, the more you save. Still running my 1050ti. Likely until it's run into the ground. Mind you, it's only in because I don't play much graphical blockbuster kind of games anymore. KCD II may be the first time I genuinelly want to upgrade. Rest of the system is a Zen 2 Ryzen, so a tad fresher and capable of running faster CPUs, including the 5800x3D. 5, 6 years ago you could get a fairly decent RX 580 for like 200 bucks, eventually below. For the same amount of money, you still but get a RX 6600 -- and that's but ~70% faster and still has the same 8GB. Things have really stalled in the entry level in particular. Current gen RTX 4060 / RX 7600 cards still ship with the same 8GB the RX 480 shipped with in 2016 as well. Even for Full-HD, you can't run higher textures anymore in every game. If the likes of 5060 and RX 8600 ship with 8GB still, they can keep those. Before I'm ever going to pay the price of a console just for a GPU, I'm opting out of blockbuster gaming for good. For KCDII though... we'll see.
  7. The Devils (1971)...by the ever incorrigible Ken Russell. It's difficult to put into words exactly what makes Russell's films so...is "on-putting" a word? It should be: it's basically the same as "off-putting", insofar as that there's something bizarre and disconcerting experienced, except that it's interesting and entertaining instead of being unpleasant or tiresome as you would rightfully expect given the content. The man has this inexplicable superpower of making films that don't really have any right to be good...exactly that. I would say this is his best film of the ones I've watched, and I was rather enthralled by both characters, story, themes, and performances, though I think I still ultimately liked The Boyfriend a little more for subjective reasons. The Exorcist is widely remembered as one of the best films of all time while The Devils was heavily censored and disavowed by the media: it perhaps seems a strange difference in reactions, given how many similarities you might notice between the two and that they were released at close to the same time (1971 vs. 1973). I suppose The Devils has a more...dual nature, in that the audience has to grapple with the fact that it walks a very fine line in being comedic, nearly parodical, in how outrageous (though never unintelligible) it gets - in grave contrast to its all too real messaging on the harrowing and dangerous intersection of politics, religion, and human nature, among a number of other things. I could see that offending many political and religious sensibilities where The Exorcist didn't, as The Exorcist always played it straight, always treated the religious and supernatural elements very seriously while keeping any commentary it might have on them quiet enough, while The Devils most certainly did not. On the other hand, I wouldn't dream of The Devils giving up on its funnier, more sociopolitical side if it meant the film forsaking the scene where a carefree and whimsical King Louis XIII lounges around in the raving throng of "demonically possessed" nuns. Who else is going to dispel the demons from all of them with an ancient vial of Jesus' blood inside of a relic container before impishly revealing that the box was in fact completely empty, causing the possessions to resume as if they hadn't ever paused? I was quite saddened the king didn't show up at either the trial or the stake burning, but I suppose His Majesty's delightful presence there would've rather undercut the film, so it was probably all for the best.
  8. Yeah, they're making more but shorter videos while covering Computex this year.
  9. Sorry, double-post (kinda.) Still yesterday there was a SKALD AMA on Reddit with a few decent info. - Launch successful accross every metric - Postlaunch support will bring a new bard class and improvements - SKALD 2 a developer wish - The engine already supports deeper systemic interactions for more emergent gameplay (as can be seen already in the light sources you can manipulate, e.g. for stealth purpose) ALSO: Love. Love never changes.

  12. Just read in IGN that AGAIN you are not having Romance Options just like in The Outer Worlds and I have to say THAT SUCKS! I own POE 1 and 2, The Outer Worlds & The Outer Worlds (Spacer's Choice Edition), Neverwinter Nights 2, Alpha Protocol on GOG and I "Had" wish-listed Avowed but after this, its the final straw and I removed it. The Outer Worlds without Romance (Outside of hooking Pavarti up with the Captain which was just bad as well) was just incredibly bland and the reasons and justifications given by Ms. Patel in this article were just ridiculous. I am writing to show you Obsidian (Whoever reads this) that you have lost a LONG Time Supporter and Content Creator on Youtube and Twitter. https://www.ign.com/articles/obsidian-explains-why-avowed-wont-let-you-romance-your-companions

  15. As far as I can tell this isn't a bug on PC, however it can be seemingly replicated using the "Kill" cheat command on the Messenger so thelee's theory that the Dracolich dying too quickly seems the most likely explanation for the bug. When that happens one or more of the Luminous Revenants that should emerge when the Dracolich reaches a certain hp threshold will fail to trigger. Which is seemingly what the game is waiting for before moving onto the next state. Assuming it is the last final Luminous Revenant that is set to spawn at 25% HP you can trigger in the town square using the following console command (IRoll20s required) then kill it: EmergeStart 3a922618-1aa9-4c60-b8ae-a0f9b92e9eb6 However it's probably simpler to just trigger the next steps of the quest and cutscene that plays after with the following command (IRoll20s required) while in the town square: SetGlobalValue LAX2_n_Dracolich_Attack_Stage 2 & StartCutscene Cutscene_Dracolich_PostAttack

  17. Watched AD Police Files. The creators really liked Blade Runner.
  18. Restored VM Arena Fight.zip I've put together that restores this encounter into a mostly functional state. The fight is a level 18 encounter, but can be launched from the Pool of Memories at anytime during Seeker, Slayer, Survivor; provided that the free Critical Role Pack DLC is installed. A short conversation will play using audio from the Critical Role Pack voice sets. Though there will be no portraits for the character during the conversation. On first completion there is a reward of some currency and a couple of Exceptional quality weapons and armour. It should be compatible with the Standalone Seeker, Slayer, Survivor mod should you wish to jump right into it, or my own Early Seeker mod if you'd prefer. Apart from fixing some minor issues, the only major alteration I've made to the encounter is creating NPC variants of each character's corresponding Player Voice. This was done to remove most of the battle barks such as Low Health, Poisoned, Critical Hits/Misses and like. Otherwise the battle is just a heap of auditory clutter with Vox Machina and PC party shouting barks. I would recommend installing the Percy and Gilmore Voice Fixes, as the audio file issues present in those voice sets will crop up during the fight. Namely Gilmore asking "How can I help you?" while casting some spells and Percy's overlapping barks during his death and damaged cries. As for how the encounter plays? I haven't done a lot of testing on it, but I found it a pretty difficult encounter to beat. Though I am pretty rusty at the game, so I'd be interested what more experienced Deadfire players make of it. I don't have any intentions to make any further alterations to the encounter in the future. But should anyone want to do something with what I've done here they are more than welcome to!
  19. The story, apparently, or the characters? The reviews bitching about that are so suitably skinny on details, it's hard to tell.
  20. Saving the game in any way will only give an error and not Save the game. I've had a lot of these Save Errors throughout the entire playthrough as well just not as severe. The problem became permanent after arriving in NG4, I can no longer make any progress because the game does not save and I also cannot create a copy of a shared world I don't have several worlds and there aren't several salves in the world either, that's not the problem... The problem is to make a new save and even the automatic saves do not work the same error appears I can no longer progress.
  21. Was there a solution? ... I have the same mistake and after arriving at NG4
  22. Damn, earlier than I thought. Let's hope it'll work out.
  23. Even after four decades, you just can't get it out of yer head. (Later on I had one of those Action Replay cartridges though. Came with a turbo loader as well as simply hitting the C64's F-keys to shortcut the "loading routines".) Oh man, SKALD is actually good. I mean real good. It feels like those oldies but with updates where needed: No bloat, just an intriguing setup and off ya go. It's a narrative heavy game, too, but it doesn't drown you in exposition. I'd rather play focused games like these than a 100 hour campaign full of filler. The character system is complex enough, the battles are about the same. There's even a simple faction system in place. What kills it though is the vibe the guy was going for and manages to hit. Sure, it's pixels. But there's a skill check fairly early on whether your character can withstand the stench of rotting corpses in a cave... succeed, and all is well. Fail, and get a debuff 'til resting. This isn't a "poop your pants" kinda game. It's rather all very oppressive and feels like uncovering dark ancient secrets in the best of ways. There's even dynamic weather (and of course day/night cycles), with the island you visit apparently being fogged permanently. Clearly, the oft expressed notion that horror kinda themes and RPG's inherent level-up kinda power fantasy wouldn't gell is nonsense. Then substantial companies had shown such in the 1980s and 1990s. They just stopped trying it mostly with Bloodlines.

  25. From what I have seen it doesn’t seem terribly, but isn’t great either. Campaign not being great is a big „wait for a deep sale” for me. I still have remasters to finish anyway.
