Ideally you want to look up what the draft of a ship is in the identification book, set the depth setting to ~2 meters deeper than the draft, then set the fish to magnetic-influence detonation. This is so that the torpedo detonates directly underneath the ship's keel and "breaks the back" of the ship so to speak and can generally spell the death of all but the heaviest ships with just one torpedo. It could be that the automatic targeting sets the running depth to those settings, and assumes the player sets the torpedo to magnetic-influence themselves. Just keep at it and check in with the fine folks at Subsim (who can teach you far more than what I could tell you here). You haven't lived until you've conducted a surface torpedo attack on a convoy with decks awash under a cloudy night. "Aal Eins... los!":

 

 

Fun trivia: Magnetic-influence detonators for the G7a torpedo in the initial stages of the Second Battle of the Atlantic were notoriously unreliable, forcing crews to rely on the contact detonators. This state of affairs was a damned sight better than that of COMSUBPAC, where _both_ the magnetic detonators (they were tested in Alaska, but did not account for the differing temperature and magnetic conditions of the South Pacific) and contact detonators (they were simply crushed upon hitting a vessel) of the Mk. 14 torpedoes were totally useless for the initial months of the war.

Tried Dirt 3. It's fun but I have to use a few assists since I suck at racing games. Tried a platformer named Brilliant Bob. It was fun for a while, but then all I wanted to do was to smash my keyboard so I had to uninstall it. I'm also still going strong in my Morrowind run. Clocked over 70 hours.

 

I tried The Dwarf Run, but the game stopped working all of a sudden. I restarted my computer and tried some other things but nothing worked. I have uninstalled it and will try it tomorrow. While the puzzles were fairly simple, I appreciate that they are blending adventure game elements with a turn-based tactical game.

Minecraft Windows 10.  The niece likes it and it's kind of a conversation thing with her.  Plus, it's interesting.  I've been trying to make a working elevator.  Hasn't met with much success so far, but I hope I can figure something out eventually.  Anyhow, using glass blocks and lava, I named one of my maps after my niece is rather large lava writing.  She seemed to be pretty thrilled with that.  A lot of work, but not as irritating as the elevator so far.

We have a few people who play Mordheim here, right? How is the game if you are interested in the single player component only?

As you can see from Chilloutman's example, we all just play single player.

I have enjoyed my 270+hours steam says I have played (single player). Yes, the AI has its issues. But as the game is not easy, this only becomes an issue later on. And as you slowly unlock new warriors for your warband, there is enough incentive to keep you going. At least in my opinion. And its worth checking out the different warbands as they can play quite different.

Pushed far enough into RE7 to get a decent understanding of how's gameplay gonna work.

 

So first of all, just like in the earlier games in the series, you get a relatively large map, twisting and turning onto itself, slowly granting you tools to unlock new paths and allowing you to access optional areas you could not access previously. You progress not only by shooting things like in RE5+, but also by solving puzzles and exploring various areas in the game - map design's generally really cool, and feels very Resident Evil-esque. Which is good. Because the latter games in the series felt anything but that.

 

For now it seems that every major stage of the game is going to have a boss who will not only get a boss fight at the end of the stage, but who'll also pester you throughout your stay in the area - the game does its best to make beating the boss fights extra satisfying, which is good.

 

And then there's things you'd expect of a RE game - zombie-like enemies, many of which you can avoid to conserve resources, good ol' safe rooms make a come back, there's steady weapon progression and even currency and stores ... Of sorts where you can get permanent upgrades or new items. Oh and... Inventory management's back.

 

Add to that a pretty damn good atmosphere and a lot of little things that the game does to keep you unsettled and yeah, I'd say we have a really good Resident Evil game on our hands again. Which is fantastic, considering how did the series turn out lately.

Add me to the people who've only played it single player. Steam tells me that I've played 396 hours, but I tend to leave the game running while I do other things, sometimes for quite a while. Still, I'd bet that I've put in a couple hundred hours. As a single player game, it approximates the squad feel of the table top extremely well. Some of the campaign scenarios are irritating, but most of them are great fun and even the irritating ones grant a degree of satisfaction in completing them. Also, I think you can set up multiplayer games fairly easily, so if you have people around here that play you could arrange a game with someone who isn't a complete stranger. That's cool in that you could try your hand (and warband) against a human player instead of the AI. My schedule is too erratic to do that, but it's always a possibility.

 

If the question is, "should I buy the game even if I only intend to play it single player?" The answer is, "Yes!"

It's fairly fun, but a bit tricky to learn. The progression of your squad and tactics were well done and reminded me a bit trying to get a good squad going in Jagged Alliance, but I really wanted to play as the characters .. If you can relate, you should try playing Warhammer Endtime instead - it's Left 4 Dead in the Warhammer universe.

Still not sure whether AssCreed Syndicate is even better than Unity. There's no online crap but the main characters & story are terrible.

Which was one of the problems with Unity, since they got pulled into all the micro transaction bait there was no time to flesh out characters or have meaningful sidequests. A far cry from AC 2.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*
