This just in from an official investigation in Australia: So on top of being 24-times more likely to be incarcerated (while posing 3% of the population), aboriginal teens in Australia are apparently systematically tortured in the youth prison of Don Dole. Some fun.

Or live off the grid.

You only MUST sell and pay the price IF your wanting what they are selling.

Don't wanna pay for power? Go off grid and adapt to not using power.

Want to pay for your toys? Get a job or realize you don't NEED those toys.

Want food? Grow ur own and hunt, trade for food.

You don't HAVE to sell yourself at all, your perfectly capable of living without doing so. BUT if u want things that u did not make nor have the knowledge of making, then don't bitch when u gotta sell ur soul and time for modern COMFORTS.

Even assuming that you had the capital to get your life in the wilds started, growing your own food, building your own house etc. means you're subject to regulations and most likely taxation (on property at the very least). And to pay taxes you need money, and to get money if you have no passive income, you have to work for someone else or sell your own produce. Either way, you have to pay taxes. And so we are back to square one. Not to mention the eventual but certain need for medicine, which is an essential rather than a comfort.

There is simply no way not to participate in the economy since the only territory on Earth that isn't subject to national sovereignty is Antarctica (and it's illegal to settle there anyway). Unless potentially being an outlaw doesn't matter to you, but if so, you're better off straight up robbing banks. Less complicated.

At any rate, I don't think it's reasonable to suggest that if one thinks that the system is by design unfair for a majority of participants, they should get out and try to eke out a Stone Age living off the grid. The reasonable course of action is, evidently, to reform the system.

Inheritance is one of these things that can be easily made to benefit the largest part of society while maintaining a good tax income for the state. Say, no tax on the first million and 85% on every further cent. Not just cash; total capital. An easy fix that would certainly maintain incentive for most while equipping the state with enourmous amounts of money (just think about what we could do if, say, bill gates died). Classic social democracy.

Seriously, if your children would inherent more than one million total, they almost definitely had the education and preparation to give them a significant head start anyway. Have them make their own luck now.

Wow, that's a reach!

He's absolutely right, if you don't start out with over a million you've essentially been thrown out on the street.

Do you have any idea how much it costs to maintain a private jet in airworthy condition? Even with tax breaks, $1M is nothing! Think of all the jobs in the aerospace industry you'd destroy!

If you don't have cash for paying the tax for inherited property which is the house you live in, then you go out on the street. Socialism 101.
I think a high number of homeless people is not amongst the actually pretty long lost of grave accusations you can make against historical socialism.

If you don't the wealth to aford to live in an over $1mil home with inheritance, then you're going to sell the property regardless of inheritance tax. It seems you're in need of something a little simpler than 101.

I think the jews slaughtered by the Nazis would have much preferred the evil of getting taxed on inheritence over $1 million than a gas chamber.

So you support throwing families to streets because Grandpa who owned the house died.

How German of you.

It isn't 85% on the million, it is 85% on every cent after the million. So if the house is worth $1.1 million, you would pay $85,000, I assume.

Isn't the current limit like 11 million for a couple before any taxes kick in? I feel like I posted something about this when "death taxes" first popped back up in the conversation.

Well they did start with taxation. Learn history of your people Nazi!

I guess Nazism really does date back to the Roman Empire and those occultists were right about being from Atlantis.

It's a good thing we have Volo and Sharp_One here to defend the rights of the downtrodden millionaires in the US.

I find it funny that they'd tell a guy who wound up on the street because he lost his job to pull himself up by his bootstraps but millionaires should be coddled or else they'll end up homeless.

Because   stating that someone shouldn't have the gov't steal 85% of their money is somehow 'coddling'. LMAO

And, what's this about the guy on the streets/ You are making stuff up again.

Only Nazi thieves belief it is okay for the gov't to steal 85% of someone's money.  L0L
