Rosbjerg Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Old thread here. Playing Pillars of Eternity so I have 2 characters ready for Deadfire. Wizard is pretty funny class when you reach level 10+ - those per encounter spells really wreck havok. Fortune favors the bald.
Hurlshort Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Woke up early and started my new Xcom 2 run with War of the Chosen. It is already off to a great start, and I was able to bond a couple soldiers and great some spiffy propaganda posters for them. 1
SonicMage117 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Sonic Mania!!!!!! Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother? What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest. Begone! Lest I draw my nail...
melkathi Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Started War Of The chosen as well. Seems a little less optimized than the base game, and I see complaints about poor performance and crashes in the steam forum. Bonded a first fire-team. A second pair of soldiers is ready to bond as well, but their compatibility isn't the highest, so not sure if I should. Wish there was a manual to better explain things than the in-game pop-up. New maps are neat, even if creating silly situations where the skyranger flies into tunnels to pick you up Some of the new mission scenarios are also pretty nifty. The Lost work great. Though apparently they ignore advent (or so I hear). Having read the novel, I am glad to see the lost added. Some of the world building that had been in the novel was sorely missing from the base game. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
Hurlshort Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 There is an Xcom Novel? Is it good? It doesn't seem to be available on my kindle.
the_dog_days Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 In celebration of the console release I've started a new Pillars game. 2
Undecaf Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Nothing "new and interesting" to play right now, so might start a rerun of Fallout for the 20th anniversary. Perkele, tiädäksää tuanoini!"It's easier to tolerate idiots if you do not consider them as stupid people, but exceptionally gifted monkeys."
melkathi Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 There is an Xcom Novel? Is it good? It doesn't seem to be available on my kindle. They released it in advance of XCOM2. It is OK. If you are a fan of the game it's worth reading, as it sets up the scene for the start of the game. You won't be amazed by it, but you will enjoy it. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25759278-xcom-2 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
melkathi Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Central Bradford turns out to be the Donald Trump of XCOM... Reaper accuses a Skirmisher of having lead death squads that wiped out human settlements in the region. Bradford's comment: "I am sure there was violence on both sides." 2 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
SonicMage117 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Sonic Mania cannot be played offline, Sonic Mania was made by fans, for fans. It was made by modders, against modders... so the Denuvo and Goose Drm's were placed specifically to prevent modders from tampering with the game. That being said, don't think this will affect sales though, alot of people are angry and refunding it but make no mistake, these same people are buying the console version right after so looks like Sega didn't do too bad here. In fact they lose no money as the Sonic fanbase is just too commited to care about modding prevention. It really comes to quality of the game. Sonic Mania is the best Sega game in years. Congrats to them, without being too much of a fanboy here, I'll just say that if it was any other game it would be getting a rating so bad that it would be around 42%? That sounds about right. The game is gold though.
Vaeliorin Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Playing War of the Chosen as well. Was a bit annoyed to not get my key until 7 hours after release, though (at which point I was too tired to do anything other than start the download and go to sleep.) After playing a few hours this afternoon, I'm going to start a new campaign (I played with the tutorial on earlier to see if there were any changes, and it forces you to do things I didn't want to do, like start excavating in a bad spot.) Curious to see the differences in my first Chosen (my initial one was weak against explosions and took cover next to a car, so 2 grenades + exploding car = dead Chosen.) The lost are a blast to play against. I had a sniper take out 7 or 8 in one turn (he had an advanced expanded mag so I took out the higher health ones first, then finished off a couple more with his pistol.) I think it would be cool for them to keep a stat of most lost killed in one turn for soldiers, though I suspect rangers would dominate with Reaper.
melkathi Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Who was your initial Chosen? Is it always the Assassin? Because mine was not weak to explosions Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
Hurlshort Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 These crippling traits are rough. My squad has major psychiatric problems.
melkathi Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 I have one overly aggressive grenadier who has a chance of firing normally when set to overwatch. I have a compulsive reloader who may just decide to reload as her second action if her magazine isn't full. And I have a phobophobic sniper who has a chance to panic when others around him panic. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
SonicMage117 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 What a masterpiece Sonic Mania is... even with the 3 drm's... Who cares when the game is this good? Lol Its like they read the minds of what fans wanted and gave us every single forgotten character while making sure everything was quality. Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother? What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. Belle Sorciere Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 So I haven't been playing Horizon Zero Dawn for a bit. Instead I upgraded my video card and monitor, and started checking out games with the new hardware. All was well until I got to Skyrim SE, which will only run at 12-15 FPS. For comparison, Fallout 4 runs at 60. I've tried every solution I can find online and none have worked. So annoying.
Vaeliorin Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Who was your initial Chosen? Is it always the Assassin? Because mine was not weak to explosions It appears (through 2 campaign starts so far) to always be the assassin. My second one was immune to explosions, funnily enough, but is weak to close range attacks. Shotguns ahoy, I guess. I'm really, really out of practice with Vanilla XCOM. I'm used to having higher level troops at this point (because I almost always play with scanning sites plus, which means way more missions, so even though you only get half xp, you still level up pretty fast.) Also, I miss snapshot. A lot. My research has been all over the place because of various inspirations and whatnot, but all my non-cannon weapons have +1 damage, so that's nice. I feel like I probably built things in the wrong order, too. The training center really shouldn't have been a priority. I've got some cool secondary skills I can buy, though, such as chain shot for one of my specialists, and shredder for one of my rangers, but they're pretty expensive. The warlock seems really tough so far. I might actually start having to use mind shields, because he's immune to flashbangs and loves to spam mind control. Also, he has an annoying chain daze power, summons exploding zombies, and mine also has the ability to summon extra troops. I let him kidnap (I was hoping he'd only interrogate) my templar in the last mission I had against him because I needed him off the field. Speaking of the templar, I'm not super impressed so far. They look flashy, but their damage is pretty meh (though I can't upgrade their weapon yet) and they have to engage in melee to be at all worthwhile, and that's something I generally try to avoid (because it inevitably activates extra pods.) Mine's only a corporal, iirc, so maybe they get better at higher levels. All in all, really enjoying the expansion, though I'm wondering if I might need to drop down a difficulty until I get a handle on all the new stuff.
melkathi Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 My assassin is immune to Melee and has Shadowstep, so she doesn't trigger overwatch shots :/ She is weak to attacks from Reapers and she is "Bewildered" so takes increased damage from 3+ attacks in one turn. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
melkathi Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 3 drm's Whoah! That is a lot! Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
Gorgon Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Woke up early and started my new Xcom 2 run with War of the Chosen. It is already off to a great start, and I was able to bond a couple soldiers and great some spiffy propaganda posters for them. Seriously you should all stop what you are doing and play this instead. I've been trying to bond snipers and I don't think you can. It's great to be playing a game where choices matter. There are these two factions introduced early on and you get their heroes. They have dialogue and party banter and one of them died. Yes, dead, gone. They would have been immortal by virtue of the plot in any other game. 2 Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Hurlshort Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 I have one overly aggressive grenadier who has a chance of firing normally when set to overwatch. My medic panics when people around her panic. Kind of defeats the purpose of a medic.
