Question

Hi Folks,

We just submitted a patch build to Apple and Google so that your Cinco de Mayo will be a better experience.

Google seems to have a pretty quick turnaround but submissions to Apple could take up to 3 days to publish.  We don't think it will take that long for iOS but it is out of our hands now.

Fixed:

- Quest Mode - Now with more "working!"  We found an issue where Blessings were misappropriated depending on party size and would make it unplayable IF it didn't outright crash.

- Duplicate Party Members - Pushing out experienced party members and causing a possible progression block.  The Dopplegangers have been smote.  Anybody who had a crashed screen will be resolved.

- Daily Gold - Counter should be working properly.  More importantly, you can actually collect gold.  This didn't affect everybody but it was very annoying to those it did affect.  In the near future:  We are moving the collection of gold to be on the opening screen in addition to the store's main screen.  Since it wasn't delivered on logging into the game and needed to be tapped-on, there was some unintuitiveness.

- Gold Exploit - There was a way to generate a lot of money by taking some highly geared individuals into some low level scenarios and constantly get a one time reward.  Making it not very one-time.

Enjoy! Happy Cinco de Mayo!

-Team Pathfinder

What about the issue of a character dying the first time a scenario is beaten and then not getting the reward when the scenario is beaten a second time?

Looks great but it does appear there might be a few bugs still to address. I'm also wondering what was intended regarding gold farming vs the exploit mentioned in the notes.

In one thread, Stormbringer mentioned that only Legendary Difficulty could be replayed for Gold, while currently (pre-patch) this is not the case. So probably that.

Is this the full list of changes? Asking so that we don't send bug reports on features that were not fixed in this patch. And so that we can report bug in features that should have been fixed in this patch.

Ah ok. Glad that I haven't been unintentionally taking advantage of an exploit, then.

Yeah, 'exploit', riiight... In my opinion, if someone is 'farming' for Gold and they're doing it on any difficulty other than Legendary - it's obvious they don't really know what they're doing.

You really can't effectively farm gold on any other setting. Once you beat it 3 times you only have the option for legendary. (I think)

Yeah, that change actually seems a little weird, and feels like they've possibly missed the point of the reports people were making.

The "exploit" in this case isn't running the normal or heroic scenarios repeatedly, it's running the same particular legendary base scenario repeatedly because it's just as easy as the normal version and rewards more gold, while taking no more time to complete (and usually significantly less). Fixing normal and heroic to be one-time-only rewards won't actually change that at all.

Farming normal scenarios at 100g a time would be bizarrely inefficient.

I would suggest that

- normal gold when doing legendary scenario of your level.

- half gold when doing legendary scenario of one level below your character level

- no gold for doing scenarios two level or more below your own level.

It is wery easy to farm low level scenarios below you with a team with all the bells and wishles !

How do you define 'level'? Within the same party profile you can have heroes that climb through the adventures and upgrade, and others with which you only replay low level scenarios (yes, you'll upgrade their gear too, eventually, but not feats). What about a party that's a mix of upgraded and novice characters?

And in any case, shush, you guys! Some people need to collect all the Treasures...

Right, in quest mode. Quest mode doesn't work for me so I have to play story mode scenarios to get gold. If they want to remove that and make it a quest mode only thing once I can actually play in quest mode, that's up to them.

Hopefully the idea isn't that Obsidian has a problem with running missions for gold in general, but just for some reason they didn't intent that to be doable on a lower difficulty. I would humbly suggest that you probably don't want to make difficulty level a barrier for acquiring gold though, as some players are going to be better at a given game than others and while I don't find Legendary too difficult, some people may have more trouble. Make it a time sink of course, but that can be accomplished on any difficulty.

I'm not really sure that changes anything. Yes, I've been running mostly Poison Pill but I could probably come up with 3 or 4 other missions that are about as easily completable if it mattered. In fact I think I'm fairly unique in preferring that mission over others because when I've mentioned it in other threads, nobody has ever jumped in to agree it's an easier mission or said they've also been playing it a bunch. But overall, Pathfinder isn't a terribly difficult game, so if running missions for gold is a possibility - which seemed like it was the intent - there's going to be a guy who runs a whole bunch and buys a bunch of stuff with gold. I'm not even really even that hardcore, I've only been running maybe 5-7 missions a day, I'm sure others have been playing a lot more.

But the real point I'm making with all of this is I thought being able to get gold via missions was an intended part of the design of the game and prioritizing limiting that right off the bat seems strange. In a game like this, getting in game currency is a time sink, pure and simple. I'm not sure why it matters whether someone is playing just one mission for that time, or a bunch of different ones, or what difficulty they play on (Barring some unusual mission that was completable faster than normal or something). Unless the overall concept that someone would play missions repeatedly for gold wasn't considered? Anyway I don't really expect a response, it's just as a player this seems like a strange thing to prioritize and refer to as an exploit when this seemed like an intended part of the game - gaining gold by replaying missions.

We are working on changes to make farming the same level less attractive. :)

*drops to his knees weeping*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Any chance you can introduce a mini quest mode into the Story Line? Where you can just click a button and it builds a quest based around your party and their progression?

Farming is a huge thing in RPGs.

@Brainwave: Local Heroes is an easy one to farm.

One way to deal with it:

Replaying story scenarios on any difficulty would reward 100g maximum, the idea being that the official adventures exist for people who primarily want to experience the scripted story and scenarios, and to acquire items from specific adventure decks to take on those particular challenges, while still getting some form of monetary reward.

Quest mode, on the other hand, could pay out up to 200g at legendary difficulty, because each run is randomly generated and thus there's no specific "easy mode scenario" to farm. People who want to earn gold above all else would be directed towards this option.

I could live with that.

On iOS, despite updating it, the game still thinks it needs the update.   ;(

Exploit? Really? I have a hard time seeing this as an issue that needs to be fixed. Even if it's "easier", there is still a big time investment that is involved just to get 100 gold.

Like you still need to corner the villain and defeat them.

I don't even think all the wildcards are fairly balanced in Legendary to begin with.

I'm having this issue as well. Any suggestions?
