Elric Galad Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 (edited) I found the Soulbound Scepter to be extremely baddass. The Domination effect lasts for a while and the class related abilities seem rather convenient. Nice bonus : I realized you can use it with a Skaen Priest and get the accuracy bonus. Delta57Dash Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Yeah the free Domination from the Scepter has swung quite a few fights in my direction, especially since it can crit to last something like 20+ seconds.
srlapo Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Nice bonus : I realized you can use it with a Skaen Priest and get the accuracy bonus. Soulbound weapons are universal, they will benefit from the accuracy bonus of any priest talent and/or weapon focus. 1

It seems to work with blast as well... I'm pretty sure Aloth Domination worked on a secondary target... What usually works with blast ?
DreamWayfarer Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 It seems to work with blast as well... I'm pretty sure Aloth Domination worked on a secondary target... What usually works with blast ? As far as I know, everything. It is like a carnage that only deals crush damage.
cavemandiary Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I think a fighter that already invested in the new "courage" ability would be even more sad by Steadfast, since it makes it completely useless. I am not sure that any of the soul-bound weapons are always strictly better than uniques, since you can't apply durgan steel or lashes and the % chance effects can be unpredictable. However, they sure are a lot of fun to use. It still cracks me up to see meteors and skeletons appear out of no where with the The Gray Sleeper. TBH, soulbound weapons aren't that far off on classes that aren't DPS oriented such as paladins, certain fighter builds, casters. There are also two soulbound weapons that can go to mythic (unlabored blade and abydons hammer) that are imho superior to uniques. The scepter can also go to accurate 6, which imho makes it superior on a lot of casters compared to the alternatives. The armor adds 3 to int, which stacks with other boni, and the passives are great. Steadfast can even be viable on a rogue or a barb (plus it's certainly easier to upgrade it than on a paladin). If you get lucky and proc champions boon, that bonus outweighs both lash and durgans (but that's just my opinion). Twin Stings is unique in the sense that it is the only crossbow that can fire twice before reloading (but not having twice the reloadtime), which makes it great on something like a cipher who has big reliance on casting speed. Unlabored blade Abydons Hammer Scepter Armor Steadfast Twin Stings I haven't tried out the shield enough to make an analysis of that. You might notice though that none of the soulbounds above are from WM1. Sure, Stormcaller is great for a hunter, and grey sleeper is good on a barb, but probably not to the extend of missing out on a lash+durgan.
Braven Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) It is also worth noting that to get a unique to the highest quality enchant, you have to first kill the hardest enemies, which kind of defeats the point, since those are the enemies you needed the best weapon for anyways. Soul bounds are much easier to get to those high quality enchantments. So, even if they "could" be better. In practice, it doesn't really matter once you fully upgrade them. I think the best use case for uniques is if you want extremely high attack speeds. Or you have some kind of Gimmicky build, like perma stunning or extreme endurance regeneration, or never ending buff extension (looking at you, spelltongue). For more standard, general purpose builds, soul bounds are great. Edited March 2, 2016 by Braven
cavemandiary Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I noticed that no one had put up a consolidated list of new items. Since I'm new to the community here's my contribution: Comtessa's Gage (Hands): Grants Solitary (Passive). It's flank resistance, immunity to paralyze, and 25% of damage range guaranteed for 3.0 sec. Speaking of which, the description on this item is a bit convoluted. What does 25% of damage range mean exactly? 1

Speaking of which, the description on this item is a bit convoluted. What does 25% of damage range mean exactly? It does nothing at all for the moment - it's on the bug list. But it's suposed to give you an aura which gives allies in range 25% dmg bonus, immunity to paralyze, etc... However it's not clear if it affects also the user of the gloves...
AndreaColombo Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Has anyone found the helmet for The White Crest armor? It's the only one you can't buy in Stalwart. "Time is not your enemy. Boeroer Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Nope. Also curious... By the way: why don't one just find the helmets together with the armor? Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
AndreaColombo Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 In my play through the fampyr dude with Argwes Adra was wearing the relevant helmet. I haven't killed him yet but if you can loot the helmet with the armor, then clearly it wasn't meant to also be sold in Stalwart. From rich it would ensue that the White Crest helmet should be instead. I'll report this when I'm home and see what they say in QA. "Time is not your enemy. wiarygodny Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Has anyone found the helmet for The White Crest armor? It's the only one you can't buy in Stalwart. Merchant in Durgan's Battery. It gives +3 int. 1
AndreaColombo Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 There's a merchant in Durgan's Battery? :-O "Time is not your enemy. AndreaColombo Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Where exactly? I only saw workers in there "Time is not your enemy. Boeroer Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Melee wizard with Morning Start anyone? Interesting will it work on other classes... - Update - It does! Have tried it on Eder: Eder has stolen 3 spells, and was able to make 3 casts (it could be even the same one) Wall of flame and draining touch were casted nicely. But casting the stolen "Minor Grimoire Imprint" didn't grant more spells Full image: http://i.imgur.com/OJkRQaa.jpg - ------ - And some more uniques: Pollaxe: Club: Blunderbuss: And some armors: Whoa - I totally missed that post. How cool is that? Wizard-Barb here I come! 1 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Braven Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) I wonder what the relative value of Hunter's Mail would be for a high-Regeneration fighter. It would stack with flat endurance regeneration and healing multipliers, I imagine. I wonder if it would stack with unbending too. Though I have always thought mail armors were the worst kind (unless you are going against slash, I guess). Edited March 2, 2016 by Braven
Boeroer Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) Guys this Morning Star is just insane. It not only steals spells but you can also spam cast them. It's not like you steal one spell, cast it and it's gone - no. It's like the Grimoire Imprint: you steal a spell and then can cast it as often as you like in a certain amount of time (which is very long). I just ran into a horde of Ogre Druids with a barb and hit them with this morning star. At once I had Calling the Worlds Maw and two other spells. I then started casting Calling the World's Maw and never stopped doing it. The Ogres never stood up again. Great Synergy with Blood Thirst by the way: because of the offensive spells you will kill a foe now and then. That will nullify your recovery. This weapon is great on every sturdy frontliner with good ACC and good INT and decent attack speed. I imagine dps Caster-Paladins with all those on-kill-effects. Nafboog Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 I noticed that no one had put up a consolidated list of new items. Since I'm new to the community here's my contribution: Executioner's Hood (helm): +20 Endurance per kill, +5 Melee Accuracy for +5 sec when missed by an attack. Grants Intimidating Presence (Passive). Frythr's Plated Greaves (feet): +5% Armor Speed Penalty, +3 DR, Grants Wild Spring (1 per rest). Siegebreaker Gauntlets (hands): Grants Clear Out (1 per rest), +4 Resolve. Mantle of the Excavator (cloak): +25 Defense against poison attacks, +2 survival, +4 perception. Elryn's Jacket (light armor): DR 8, Recovery Speed: -20%, 10% chance to cast eyestrike when hit or critically hit, +2 perception. Tax Collector's Mantle (cloak): +2 Stealth, Grants Escape (1 per encounter), Grants Smoke Cloud (1 per rest). Comtessa's Gage (Hands): Grants Solitary (Passive). It's flank resistance, immunity to paralyze, and 25% of damage range guaranteed for 3.0 sec. Iron Circle (ring): -5% Attack Speed, +4 Constitution, +15% Armor Damage Reduction when Endurance below 26% Looped Rope (belt): Grats Clarity (Passive). It's +20 Defense to all negative status effects. Gwyn's Band of Union (ring): Grants Blessing. Grants Instill Doubt when Endurance falls below 80% (1 per encounter). +4 Intellect. Arthek's Cord: Grants Juggernaut (Passive). Bonus move speed above 75% endurance, bonus interrupt below. Blackwarden's Breast (armor): standard exceptional breastplate with +15 accuracy against beasts aura and corrosion-proofed. Cape of the Cheat: Grants Escape (1 per encounter), +10% of incoming Grazes converted to Misses. That's all I could find. I excluded most weapons and armor because they are very easy to find if you know where to look in the files. Someone said there was a new +4 might helm, but I was not able to find it. Hope this helps completionists like me. I've not come across the +4 int ring. It's been mentioned on this thread a few times. Anyone got any idea where it might be? I almost missed the +4 dex boots in the avalanche area. I'm wondering if I missed the ring somewhere...

Also has one of the two DPS enchants, making it a solid beatstick against non OP classes. Hmm...can't think of a class that could better advantage of it than a Barb off the top of my head. As you said, Blood Thirst for spells is pretty sick, and I bet most passives for other classes don't work well with spells. Maybe a Fighter, to Charge to the mage of choice, Knock Down so he can't cast while you steal his spells with extra armored fighter attack speed, Charge out when you got what you wanted, and activate Fighter Acc boost (which I think is unversial), then begin the spell spamming? Can you steal spells from you allies by chance? That could be interesting.
cavemandiary Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Thats pretty cute. Also to top it off, it actually looks really good. 1
