February 2, 20169 yr Alpha Protocol 2. I really wanted to like Alpha Protocol, but the mini games just killed it for me. Never made it out of the starting area. I'm all for AP2 if they could get rid of such legacy garbage (mini games, qte's etc. that kills my enjoyment of games) “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
February 2, 20169 yr It's minigames and boss fights for me. I did run the game through once and had relatively good time (and unlike many and Sawyer, I actually liked the weapon inaccuracy mechanic the game had), but the memory of those things always turn me off when thinking about going for seconds. February 3, 20169 yr id love to see a game structured like Alpha Protocol but based around the current day Mob. imagine a story that actually lets you side with families and factions, betray people, befriend people and overall effect the outcome of the intricate story with your choices. the combat areas would actually be casual areas in town where a target is so the area could be a house, a mansion, a casino, a strip club, etc....and each area could have its own day/night cycle so if you camp out there all day, you see guards change shifts or maybe even the target leave the area and return at a later time, etc. im writing a script right now that i think would be Perfect for a game like that but i doubt Obsidian would care about my little stories lol. i just hope Obsidian realizes what a great pallet Alpha Protocol was and it has the ability to be a GREAT CURRENT GEN GAME. also, if your apartment or penthouse has a tv, having Actual TV Shows would be personally desired. i have a fetish for sitting in virtual homes and just watching tv lol. other people hate it but i feel like it makes a game Complete
February 3, 20169 yr I'm surprised lot of people said bloodlines. Wod darkness and the whole vampire fad in general peaked in the 90s with movies like blade. Its 2016 now now vampire are not cool anymore xD. I want to see personally a sword and sorcery space game. Basically pillars of eternity with its gods and stuff with more sci fi collectivist elements like galatic empires and mega corps but transcendentalism elements like the power of individuality and the vast expanse of spaces impact on it. And the theme of the game is basically how these elements conflict with each other on a cosmic scale complete with B movie cheesiness Edited February 3, 20169 yr by Failion
February 4, 20169 yr twilight, drama television, movies with really dumb plot (daybreakers) etc. All that stuff killed vampires. Vampires are like that degrassi show right now. Geared towards teenageers and middle aged women. Idk I like to see familiar genres with a twist. Evil genius+resident evil. You compete against other bio weapon companies and kidnap people to experiment on and sell stuff to terrorists while avoiding heat and people attacking your facilities.
February 4, 20169 yr Eh, I don't pay attention to pop culture so none of that affects me. Resident Evil plots are so cliche as well with bio-mega corp world takeover. The series has been done to death, not even counting the copycats. I have a similar interest in wanting some games more familiar, there's a void in the action/rpg genre that leaves plenty of room for interesting titles, but unfortunately they're costly to make. I'd rather a new Bloodlines game not even be attempted if all can be mustered is an archaic isometric, turned based design.
February 5, 20169 yr Jesus Christ what an impossible poll. I went with Vampire, KOTOR and Fallout, in that order. Of course I wouldn't mind another PIllars of Eternity or NWN, but for me those 3 are simply a must. It's Obsidian's divine quest to make those games. Fallout needs to be saved from Bethesda. KOTOR needs to be saved from Bioware. Find a way, guys. Edited February 5, 20169 yr by Raz415
February 5, 20169 yr i dont understand what the issue is with Fallout 4. for me, it was exactly what i wanted in a Fallout game: lots of side quests, interesting characters, comfortable FPS controls and the ability to build and customize your own town. i put about 80 hours into it in a week and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it. Fallout NV was a solid title but lacked in ALOT of areas that i feel Fallout 4 corrected....and i dont think 4 gets the credit it deserves AT ALL but to each his own taste. Fallout is old news now though. its a new generation, its time to move forward. id love to see them take the NV engine and make a brand new IP. maybe something set in a modern day city??? a crime thriller??? a mob story??? a MURDEROUS LOVE MYSTERY??? so many possibilities.
February 7, 20169 yr Author twilight, drama television, movies with really dumb plot (daybreakers) etc. All that stuff killed vampires. Vampires are like that degrassi show right now. Geared towards teenageers and middle aged women. What do you mean by "killed vampires"? If I make a spin off of P:T and replace the Transcendent One with Honey boo boo will I have killed P:T? No, I will just be some degenerate with no taste. As was said, these Twilight teenage drama abominations are meant for specific groups of people and it doesn't concern fans of the original lore.

The issue is that they took a series about how your choices affect the wasteland and took out any choices that affect the wasteland. Removed skills so its more twitch gaming than character-based. Gutted the dialogue system. Basically turned one of the best RPG franchises of all time into Farcry: Post Nuclear Edition. Its not a bad game. I had fun with it. Its just a really bad Fallout game. February 13, 20169 yr After reading this thread, it seems to me that if Obsidian made a game where you were a vampire spy for an obscure religion that granted special abilities because it connected all life-forms together and the PC worked for one of several competing factions in a post-apocalyptic wasteland that were structured like feudal kingdoms and generally used swords and such everyone would get something they wanted. Alright, this is everything I want in a RPG, but since it wasn't an option I voted for WoD and PoE2.

February 24, 20169 yr Space Pirates. It's got to have Space Pirates. With squid-like aliens and telepathic dolphins. Unh... perhaps a good enough writer could pull it off? I mean, it could be a post-apocaliptic sci-fi tantasy space opera with lovecraftian elements, and those dolphins could be the uplifted servants of said squid-aliens. Maybe the vampire PC would drink blood as a way to syphon latent psychic power, and the "force" equivalent could actualy be the mind of slumbering alien gods buried beneath the planets the game is set in, that caused said apocalipse when they last awakened. Those gods have powerful telepathic powers, and mortals can use telepathy because said gods are linked to the minds of every living being on their planets, and when they are slumbering, mortals can tap the connections. The squid aliens are an entire race of psychic vampires that are foolish enough to want to kill those gods to steal their power, and the space pirates are preying on the chaos caused by the fall of interestelar civilization and an alien invasion. See? It could work as a serious RPG. Edited February 24, 20169 yr by DreamWayfarer
February 25, 20169 yr 100% without a doubt the only thing I am hungry for right now is a Pillars 2 Kickstarter. I want them to do a great job with it, no more gold plated NPCs, although I don't mind the ingame plaques at all. No items, but lots of great extras as you go up, guides, soundtracks, etc., all the way up to visiting the office, etc. I really think if they did a Kickstarter campaign the right way for Pillars 2 right now they'd beat the first one. I can just imagine a bigger, better sequel, importing your characters, all kinds of awesomeness. I feel like they are definitely going to do it but when? Distant second Fallout 4 followup. February 25, 20169 yr Pillars 2 would be awesome, and I'll pretty sure will hear about reasonably soon too! If I got my wish fulfilled, we'd see a huge and rich Pathfinder CRPG from Obsidian, perhaps with a turn-based system. *** "The words of someone who feels ever more the ent among saplings when playing CRPGs" ***
February 25, 20169 yr Elric of Melnibone on the other hand would make for an excellent rpg. An extremely rich fantasy world, lore, gods, artifacts, monsters and many unique and admirable points of interest (unlike GOT). Story-wise - intrigue, with twists and turns like a greek tragedy. And if they'd somehow manage to get their hands on the art guys of the gorgeous, gorgeous new french comic book adaptation... "Lulz is not the highest aspiration of art and mankind, no matter what the Encyclopedia Dramatica says."
February 26, 20169 yr KOTOR sequel (loved KOTOR 2) Bloodlines - One of my favs, would love to have Obsidian's take it on Pillars 2 - Enjoyed Pillars and the expansion packs a good deal, would like another Alpha Protocol style game with a different name if need be, very underrated game Fallout 4 Expansion packs, New Vegas >>>> Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 NWN sequel - On a newer engine, with a great creation/mod setup again I would be down for any of those to be honest, hell I would love a Wheel of Time game to that they had been rumored to be working on. I was also very sad to hear Obsidian was NOT working on the new south park rpg. And a game of thrones or Bastard Executioner style rpg would be amazing to I bet. With a tank game and a card game in the works from Obsidian (two genres I have not much interest in), I really hope they get an rpg or two in the works My bet? Pillars 2 and maybe something new down the road. Edited February 26, 20169 yr by kozzy

If I got my wish fulfilled, we'd see a huge and rich Pathfinder CRPG from Obsidian, perhaps with a turn-based system. Yeah I'm really surprised Obsidian hasn't moved on their Pathfinder license for a crpg yet. I would think there'd be a huge market for it. Though for me, no turn-based please! I strongly prefer RTwP. They could make it a NwN-like game but in the Pathfinder world with Pathfinder rules, and it could be 3D rather than top-down, and possibly even have an open-world concept to it. That way it would be sufficiently different from their PoE franchise while still being attractive and familiar to crpg traditionalists.
February 28, 20169 yr I thought they couldn't make a Pathfinder RPG due to license restrictions which is why they made it a card game. Was this wrong? Free games updated 3/4/21
February 28, 20169 yr I thought they couldn't make a Pathfinder RPG due to license restrictions which is why they made it a card game. Was this wrong? Urquhart said about a year ago that a Pathfinder RPG is being discussed with Paizo. I actually think it's possible that the upcoming re-purposed Stormlands could be a Pathfinder game. February 28, 20169 yr https://youtu.be/7hqYxXEdw8U?t=9145 So WMP2's out, announce this game already! It's been nearly 4 months : p
February 29, 20169 yr Honestly? They need to do all the CRPGs!Except Bloodlines, that was pretty awesome the way it was handled and I wouldn't want it to become an isometric RPG. Ion Storm or someone like that should handle it.Actually scratch that, it should become a joint venture between "Ion Storm or someone" and Obsidian. Why is that not a thing in PC gaming? It really needs to be.But honestly I don't have a preference about what they do next. I like all of the franchises listed, and there are more I like. They'll turn it into something good anyway.
March 4, 20169 yr Pillars of Eternity 2 would be pretty great, or a new Fallout-like game. Or Spellforce, since it has an even larger world. While Spellforce 3 is already being made, it'd be cool to have a spin-off cRPG set in a Spellforce world, in the PoE engine. Made by Obsidian, anyway.
