Given that it's Beamdog and the "Enhanced" Edition, colour me meh.

Wrong forum. I'm sure there is already a thread about it in the computer and console forum.

Right forum. I didn't know and I wouldn't have found it out (I'm pretty shure, that is grammatically wrong) on my own.

We're all doomed

Even more isometric goodness to look forward to.

Should have been a stand-alone, imo. Not really interested in picking up BG I at $20, even if it is "Enhanced". =/

It is very nice just to be able to load the game and play on higher resolutions without a laundry list of mods that must be installed in proper order that may or may not still be supported etc... I found it and the IWD EE series well worth the small price myself while waiting for PoE to launch. Will likely grab the expansion when available just to see how they did. 8)

altho now that I think on it the IWD series may have been from GOG :geek:

There's a lot of things I'm interested in, and that I'll probably not hear about, but that doesn't mean that it should be posted here just so I do. Me wanting to hear about it has nothing to do with whether this is the appropriate place or not. I want to hear heavy metal every day. The hospital nursery is not the right place.

Unless it's a lullaby rendition?

For the record, that's actually grammatically correct (but "sure" is spelled without an "h".)

Correctly surmised that this was in the wrong forum. Moved to computer and console.

I have much higher hopes for this than Sword Coast Legends at least.

Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved - indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.

Sigh. Can't delete...

I'm keeping an open mind about this and hoping they can put together a decent game. Unless it gets heavily panned, I'll likely give it a try. Hopefully it'll include many of the non-combat elements that made BG interesting.

You can pick up BGEE for very much less than that, and I'm sure they will be selling it off for peanuts before they release SoD, to try and boost expansion sales.

My main concern is the quality of the writing. Some of the new content for BG2 was decidedly badly written.

But I don't think it will suck as much as Sword Coast Legends at least.

Everyone knows Science Fiction is really cool. You know what PoE really needs? Spaceships! There isn't any game that wouldn't be improved by a space combat minigame. Adding one to PoE would send sales skyrocketing, and ensure the game was remembered for all time!!!!!

Oster & co. talk 'bout stuff.

Don't care, won't be playing this until DavidW adapts SCS. =]

Journal Popups? The last thing I want for BG is journal popups.

Yeah, that's what 2nd Ed. 18 Strength looks like IRL apparently.

I hope he does go Raging Boll on his detractors.

Anyway, read on KKKodex that MCA is "on board" to "help polish up the writing". From the Q&A it seems his involvement is limited to playing through an early build and giving feedback. It'd be great to know if he's done some actual writing for the game. Personally I'm not impressed with the UI changes (accessibility!) but it's likely trivial to revert to at least the default EE version. On the plus side, they will be patching the new class -and logic suggests the new spells too- into BGEE and BG2EE.

Trent brings some much needed manliness to the vidya gaem industry.

The Q&A:

It is more than just playing the early build, they said they gave him all the design documents and gave the pages of feedback on it all and they are changing the game based on that.

Also, SoD will be an expansion for BG1EE and all changes will automatically work on BG1EE. For BG2EE they said they will patch it in later.

As far as we know it seems MCA is doing some basic "this looks cool/not" consultancy, like he's done for several games recently.

Their new content for EE's was amateur and cringey, their new UI for EEs (& SOD) is terrible and they should have just left it alone. Hopefully they can come up with something new that they made that is actually positive - looking forward to details on the shaman class, or perhaps gameplay/encounter design improvements.
