If you want to whine about "but they are completely different  and you can't compare them," then please move on to another thread.

Now that both games have been out for awhile and if you have played both, which one do you think is the better game?  The better RPG?  Why?

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

What if you dislike both series equally? :p

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

The Witcher 3 succeeded where Dragon Age Inquisition failed miserably when it came to open world and sidequests associated with the open world.  That alone puts TW3 ahead of DAI.

The actual open world was better, too.  In TW3, it actually felt like you were traveling across the continent.  In DAI, the maps were broken up and each map felt ... like you were never really in an open environment, but rather various tracks through a map.

The main story was also more coherent in TW3.  More time and effort was put into the main story, so it didn't feel rushed.

And the character models weren't even close.  The Witcher characters actually moved like regular folks.  The Inquisition characters, particularly the women, walked like apes and were as ugly as sin.

The only edge I'd give DAI -- and this is more of a personal thing than any sort of bad game design thing -- is you had more dialogue/interactions with your party companions.  TW3 allowed you to converse with various friends/companions, but not always whenever you wanted, and the dialogue got exhausted pretty quick.

That.. was not a difficult choice.

Especially considering I never played Dragon Age: Inquisition.

On the one hand, it would be unfair for me to judge because I haven't played DA3 past the tutorial. On the other hand ....I haven't been able to play DA3 past the tutorial.

I haven't played Witcher 3 because I hated Witcher 2.

I don't mind being forced to play a fixed character, so long as it's not a character I hate.

Everyone knows Science Fiction is really cool. You know what PoE really needs? Spaceships! There isn't any game that wouldn't be improved by a space combat minigame. Adding one to PoE would send sales skyrocketing, and ensure the game was remembered for all time!!!!!

The Witcher 3 is actually Ciri's story, not entirely Gerald's.

I voted but you cannot expect people not to whine  as they are different games so the comparison is unfair

Yeah, that's basically my issue with the series.

Also, both of these fantasy worlds are super depressing.  It would be nice if they lightened it up a bit.  Plus the romance and sex stuff is stupid.  :p

The Witcher 3 was a fantastic game with more consistency and had a truly great ending.

Dragon Age Inquisition was a pretty good game that felt like two games, one open world, one level based, with a badly rushed ending.

I still want to know why DAI went with that structure. Nobody does open world games where the main path missions are completely cut off. Did they split duties between studios? Was it the result of a revision in design? Did the story designers not feel comfortable working in the open areas?

I swear, games need commentary tracks.

TW3... not even in the same league...

To this day i cannot force myself to load up a save and finish the damned game... I'd rather play TES:O than put any more time in that boring game called DA:I

chalk us up as somebody who couldn't get through witcher 2.  the thing is, we didn't hate the main character more than we hated everything else.  the witcher 2 combat were shallow to the point that the player involvement became nothing more than a repetitive chore with startling speed.  and the story.

look, we know some folks is great fans o' witcher 'cause it is dark and mature and... whatever.  ain't mature.  story is as shallow as combat.  witcher is a self-indulgent, teenage boys' waking wet dream/power fantasy.  is immature to a comical degree but somehow it gets mislabeled as mature 'cause it is bloody and gratuitous and cynical.  is nothing wrong with making a game that is actual pandering to the lowest common denominator.  is nothing wrong with liking such a game-- it is a fantasy after all.  am not gonna be too hypocritical 'bout indulging in fantasy, eh?  nevertheless, the self-deluded pretension that for some makes witcher a property more deserving o' consideration 'cause o' its maturity is laughable.

can't vote-- haven't played either game.  that being said, we do not foresee playing witcher 3.

HA! Good Fun!

To be fair, Gromnir, all that "immature power fantasy with shallow combat and gratuitous blood and sex" criticism applies just as much to DA:I.

But I still managed to enjoy my Inquisition power fantasy, because it didn't force my character to behave like an obnoxious adolescent.

I liked both games but objective facts support DA:I's superiority.

DA:I: 151 hours played

Witcher 3: 128 hours played

I refuse vote either of the games, because of their poor mouse and keyboard controls, which make them undeserving to win anything.

whenever we hear of the witcher franchise, we cannot help but be reminded o' the following:

“It could have been--it didn't have to be obscene.... It could have been--a bird out of season, dropping bright-feathered on my shoulder.... It could have been a tongueless dwarf standing by the road to point the way.... I was prepared. But it's this, is it? No enigma, no dignity, nothing classical, portentous, only this--a comic pornographer and a rabble of prostitutes....”― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead

Really ? I didn't really notice him being much of that, particularly arrogant and egotistical. I suppose it helps you never really meet some 'nice' people in the games. Interesting though. I suppose you might be right about him being an adolescent idea of a badass, but I am not sure what an adult one would be - Man with No Name ?

I have not played Dragon Age: Inquisition, and I do not plan to - it is highly unlikely I will ever play another BioWare game again.  However, I have watched  videos of the game on YouTube.  The game has  so  much social justice political correctness that it feels like a sanitized bad joke.  I know Canadians are a bunch of overly politically correct social justice lemmings, but Dragon Age: Inquisition feels... too much.

DA3. It is not great - in fact I couldn't finish it. But, I'd take that over a game like is beyond crap in a crap series that has only one  worthy aspect it - B00BIES. Sorry Twitcher fans, but that crap is so awful that even the worse of BIO is better. :)

Volo are you sure you played the English version of W3? You probably played the Polish version and didn't understand the dialogue and that's why you didn't  enjoy it?
