Monte Carlo
My problem with Doom is that I spent hours and hours and hours playing it on my original Playstation in 1997. Seeing it all glammed up with state of the art graphics feels wrong. They should have gone sort of retro in my opinion. It doesn't look like Doom. FWIW Doom is one of my favourite video games of all time - what made it creepy was the superb music / audio and weirdness of the maps. I can't help but wonder if the new Doom will capture that.
Keyrock
Cradle, made by some former S.T.A.L.K.E.R. devs, among others, released today Why do all the games I want to play have to release at the same time? The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna and Victor Vran yesterday and Cradle today.I instantly go from nothing new to play for a couple weeks to too much to play. #FirstWorldProblems Edited July 24, 2015 by Keyrock 2 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks
Bartimaeus
I didn't realize Cradle was made by former Stalker devs. I'm a huge believer of "judging a book by its cover", and I have to say, the title card artwork is really off-putting to me. Looks like some unbelievably terrible indie sci-fi game. Quote How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart. In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance. Looks like some unbelievably terrible indie sci-fi game. You leave mechanical woman alone, she's gonna be my new waifu. I haven't seen any real reviews on it yet. I'm sure the IGNs and Gamespots of the world are too busy pumping out article #657 on the latest upcoming semi-annual AssCreed reskin to be bothered to look at this, so I might not see any reviews for it for a while. The few Steam reviews that are up are all positive, but you know how far you can trust those (as far as I can throw tanker truck). I might just risk the $13 and give it a shot, I've been looking forward to this since they first announced it a couple years ago. Worst case scenario is that I'm out a 12-pack. Bartimaeus
Hey, I like...um...mechanical women...as much as the next person, but the least she could do is put on some clothes...at least for the title card, doggonit...and not make the game look so silly. Steam reviews have their use...namely, telling if a game is completely broken or completely terrible: anything at or below "mixed" and it almost always means at least one of those. Beyond that, it seems like they don't really usually mean much...particularly when it comes to indie games, where users have an odd tendency to give overwhelmingly positive reviews to games that have neat premises, but are executed in such a boring and/or repetitive manner that there's no way you'd want to actually COMPLETE the game. Be sure to post in the "what are you playing" topic if you ever get around to it. Quote How I have existed fills me with horror. Oner
The slice of life atmosphere is really great. As for the characters, I didn't have any real problems with them. Most of them are stereotypes-with-a-twist. Gorgon
Well ladies, some good news for you which might help you out countering the online abuse. A study which proves the obvious fact. If a man harasses you, he really sucks at the game and feels threatened by your skills http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0131613 If this study gets little bit well know, it might help them to rather shut up TLDR version in this article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-intersect/wp/2015/07/20/men-who-harass-women-online-are-quite-literally-losers-new-study-finds/?tid=sm_fb And here's Erik Kain's (of Forbes fame) response: http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2015/07/21/more-terrible-journalism-erupts-over-new-video-game-sexism-study/ Also relevant, Liana K's video on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0qUQGzBmis How many Halo matches did they play, because it says they only created 3 accounts. I would want to try to approach 1000 polls (different games) before trying to make any meaningful comparisons. Also who plays Halo anyways. Keyrock
To be honest, I'm over Half-Life 3. If it comes out some day, great, I hope it's good. If it never happens, no skin off my back. As far as this rumor, it sounds like a whole bunch of conjecture based on other conjecture which is based on yet more conjecture. Well, just to catch you up, Halo is a series centered around Master Chef. Master Chef is a phenomenal cook but he has a severe skin condition forcing him to always wear a full helmet to avoid contaminating the food he makes. There is an alien gang called the Covenant, I think they're from Mexico. Anyway, not only did these aliens come across the border illegally and are causing trouble for out law abiding citizens, they also don't much care for Master Chef's most excellent cuisine, causing our hero to have to take matters into his own hands and drive these illegal aliens back across the border. 8 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks
