Normal push ups do nothing, you're not supposed to do them at all. if you are really concerned about your wrist health and you want to do push-ups do them on closed fists, that way you don't bend your wrists to hell. With push ups you only push like 65% of your own body weight which is nothing, the only push-ups worth doing are those where someone is sitting on your upper back, its the poor mans bench press and a very good exercise if you there is no training equipment available.
