Just plotting and scheming my visit to the butchers. I've finally decided to just walk in and buy anything I like the look of. I can cook it whatever way I like later.

Due to my back I am going to have to do three trips to the shops today! Roast leg of lamb tomorrow, assorted veg, belly pork slow roasted today ready for snacking on. Only two guests coming. :(

Fiancée is working nights this week. That means beer for dinner! I think I'll have an appetizer of Sam Adams, followed by a main course of Sam Adams. I'll skip dessert though, still have some work to do tonight.

Nasi Goreng. Indonesian style fried rice.

Think normal Chinese fried rice but adding the following components:

Shallots

Terasi (shrimp paste)

Sambal (Indonesian chili sauce)

Sweet soy sauce

I had Coq au Vin last night which is basically a chicken stew simmered in red wine.

I am a big fan of these types of stews, you throw all the ingredients in a pot and let it all cook for a few hours. Nothing could be simpler and it tastes great as the various ingredients infuse all there flavors together

Small slices of beef stir fried with:

--strips of all 3 colors of bell peppers

--yellow onion

--sliced celery

--2 sliced fresh/raw jalapeno

--little bit of black pepper

--garlic, soy sauce, etc etc.

Spicy, simple, colorful. Yum.

Made some meatballs filled with cheddar. Boiled some potatoes and put the gravy from the meatballs on it. Also some peas and carrots with a sprinkling of parsley on it.

You made meat pampushkii?

I had to look up what that is*, but yes, essentially. It was surprisingly good too, it was just a moment of "hrm, I have a bunch of leftover cheddar and nothing to do with it..."

Gonna try the potato variant sometime. Thanks. :)

*To be fair, I have to look up what most things in this thread are because one thing that still has a language barrier for me is the names of foods and ways to cook them. I had to look up what a freaking bell pepper was because we just call them the same as the spice you make out of them - "I've got a bunch of paprikas!"

That's one of the advantages of a forum like this, we learn things regularly. I often look up certain phrases and words that people use, its a real global community :geek:
