Keyrock Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) Thoughts: It looks fairly pretty, as much as I can gather from shakycam anyway. "Combat intensive" - *sigh* It looks like they're still trying to straddle the line between action RPG and tactical RPG, combat looks like DA2 combat with pretty effects to make it look more impressive (not a compliment) The way the character leaned to one side and put his hand down occasionally to keep his balance on uneven ground was nice. Controls look like they're very much built around a controller. It would be nice if they built a separate control scheme for PC, but I'm not holding my breath Edited November 12, 2013 by Keyrock 2 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks
Azdeus Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Frostbite engine, so... no modding the poo out of the game either. Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken
Sarex Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) At least they are more upfront this time around. Now I know what to expect and will look to the more interesting parts of the game, such as upgrading forts and rebuilding the lands (also finding Anders and putting him in the ground again(because he is alive in DA:I even if we killed him in DA2?)). alanschu Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) "Combat intensive" - *sigh* While I think it'd be great if we went away from this too, the legacy of BioWare's games has always been very combat intensive. Controls look like they're very much built around a controller. It would be nice if they built a separate control scheme for PC, but I'm not holding my breath Can you elaborate? Tale Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Faster Than Light is getting a free update... with additional writing from a certain Chris Avellone. I prefer the uncertain Chris Avellone. Still, that's pretty freaking awesome. Maybe I'll finally make time to play it. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."

Malcador Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Goodbye Deponia is racist and sexist I will still give it a go though. I guess in a way it is nice to have a game where the protagonist is an utter douchebag. Why has elegance found so little following? Bester Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) I haven't played it yet, but it seems to me that the game is just a mix of teen/black humor that this generation simply can't get with all their "serious concerns for sexual equality" etc. Maybe I'll give it a try. The trailer doesn't seem funny or racist though, it's insipid. Edited November 13, 2013 by Bester IE Mod for Pillars of Eternity: link

It is RPS' take on it, after all, so how evil the game is or how the situations are interpreted might not be accurate. Its more the principle, the game seems to have a total disregard for social issues that create unhappiness for many people who are victims of discrimination and bigotry. I have no reason to believe that RPS would exaggerate how bad the game is as I know they take these things seriously. Saying that the only way I could truly judge the game would be to play it myself but I really don't know if I can put myself through that Bruce, have you ever watched One and Half Men show? Malcador Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) There was gay bashing in the Runaway games ? The drag queens in the first game is the only close situation coming to mind. Seems really like GD is just populated with jerks saying jerky stuff, hence a problem. The first game was great. The drag queens seemed like a reference to certain movies. The second one turned into one looong dumb gay joke. Every discusssion with every character made jokes about the main character being in a gay relationship with the wierd scientist guy. Probably "bashing" is a strong word. But when the joke is repeated ad nauseum, it stops being an unfunny punch-line. 1 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

As a person often labeled as "white knight", I'll come and out myself as a Two and a Half Men fan. Love the show. At least when it had Charlie Sheen. While it is disrespectful towards women, it isn't exactly respectful towards men either. Or can anyone imagine themselves suggesting that Charlie and Alan are awesome male role models? I love the show as it is equal opportunity disrespectfull. 1 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
