Tale Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 While I thought DA2 was a good game, it was also entirely forgettable. I think this is, from my subjective point of view, the most accurate review I've seen of the game. I think I remember a great deal of the game. Especially the third act. And that's the part preventing me from even trying a replay. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Nonek Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I'll probably buy DA3 if it garners enough good reviews from trusted sources (not "professional game journalists",) unless it's Origins only in which case i'll do as the song says and walk on by. Nonek do you consider me a trusted source? I'll happily review DA3 for you. I am confident that it will provide a worthwhile RPG experience While I appreciate the kind offer sir, i'm not too sure our opinions would be synergistic. However I thank you for the gesture. @Keyrock. Apparently one of the combat design team, a gentleman called Flash (ahhhahhh) is making a full combat rebalance mod for the second game, that deals with the common bugbears you rightly point out. One assumes it's also a beta test for the third games combat system. 1 Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? I think this is, from my subjective point of view, the most accurate review I've seen of the game. That's even worse than a game being branded as bad. At least a bad game you're likely to remember. Well, YMMV. I'd rather play a game I tremendously enjoy while I'm playing through it and then later forget about (DA2, some others that I've forgotten. ) than one that causes active suffering to me. But I'm not a gaming hipster! Then you are a fool. The only reason to play games is to cause yourself immense suffering and/or boredom. If you are having fun, you are doing it wrong. Not really excited for either, found TW2 pretty boring and repetitive, found DA2 boring and repetitive with worse mechanics than the first. I will check out both if I hear good things about them from people with similar tastes, or if alanshu guarantees the ability to wear a golden codpiece in DA3 in the case of DA3. One assumes it's also a beta test for the third games combat system. That's a really good idea. I can't wait to test it out in TW2 (that will give me an excuse to play through the game for the 6th time), and it makes all the sense in the world to pass that change, if successful, along to the next game, as it's being made with the same engine, well a new iteration of it, but I'm sure it's quite similar. Yeah, because John Travolta loves the fact people remember Battlefield Earth than the number of movies he's amde that people don't remember. LMAO Anyways, DA series ? Twitcher series. 'Nough said. Drowsy Emperor Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) That's even worse than a game being branded as bad. At least a bad game you're likely to remember. Why is being remembered - even in a negative connotation - considered a positive? It's redicolous. Being average is definately better than being bad (and DA2 was average overall) Bad games can be amusing, like a bad movie. Average games are irritating because of the unfulfilled potential. Of course, as the lawyer said, YMMV. AGX-17 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Never could get into The Witcher, so i'm apathetic about that. If DA2 and ME3 are any indication, Bioware will find a way to make the third game worse than the already terrible second. Edited June 12, 2013 by AGX-17
Nepenthe Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 (edited) They play the original Nintendo system ironically. They play PC games you've probably never heard of. Nightshape Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Well this thread was an interesting read... I'm not sure if people are just older and more cynical. That said, considering the global gushing that just occurred it's nice to see some sobering comments even if I didn't expect them to be from here. P.S. Volo you're still a spooner. I came up with Crate 3.0 technology. Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.Down and out on the Solomani RimNow the Spinward Marches don't look so GRIM!
alanschu Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Hang out on the BSN more if you want some more common, not so gushing, types of comments regarding BioWare games. Although it is often one extreme or the other.
Nightshape Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Was more on about W3... As I'm at CD Projekt Red now - I take it you're still at Bioware, Alanschu? Anyways - I'll be picking up DA3. Sobering comments are great. 2 I came up with Crate 3.0 technology. Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.Down and out on the Solomani RimNow the Spinward Marches don't look so GRIM!
Malekith Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Well, W3 was too "Skyrim-like" for my taste. I was more positive towards the game before i saw the trailer.

Well, I think it'll be a good game, but not as great as it could've been. Due to the nature of open world games I don't think you will be able to keep as high quality as you did previously, and I'm also expecting the Choice & consequences to have less of an impact in the world. It's just going to be more generic in it's feel. I have to ask though, what's up with Geralts armor in the video? It's awful plain compared to this. I still expect it to be alot better than DAI, and I'm going to buy it on day one I reckon. Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Sobering comments are great. Indeed I am. I've not followed The Witcher 3 too closely though. Though I did enjoy the second one. Just remember to tighten up the graphics on level 3! licketysplit Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) Well Bioware's was just a teaser while TW3 had some gameplay footage, and it looked amazing. I think CD Projekt is the better developer so I'm confident Witcher 3 will be better. Bioware's writing has just tanked of late, and their approach to moral dilemmas and choices has never been as good as the RED's. That said, they're taking more time with DA3's developement so I do expect it to be an improvement over DA2. Edit- damn, Nightshade works at CD Projekt? Cheers mate! Hope the game is going well.
