I'm ok with rat people, I like the look they got in MTG.

K is for Kid, a guy or gal just like you. Don't be in such a hurry to grow up, since there's nothin' a kid can't do.

Rats are very intelligent animals, they have no fear of water and in fact are great swimmers, they are notorious for stowing away on ships, and are found in abundance near any source of water.

All we know about the Aumaua is that they are large and they live near the water.

Imagine a giant bi-ped humanoid river rat, long tail, hunched posture, able to jump long distances, fast reflexes, doesn't fear anything, and highly intelligent.

For reference think of the movie: The Secret of Nym.

Also think about the character Reepicheep from the C. S. Lewis book "Voyage of the Dawntreader".

A large bi-ped humanoid (Player Character) Rat race has never been done before in any game of which I am aware.

(EDIT: Just to clarify, I know that rat-folk exist in D&D and a lot of other settings, but as far as I am aware I've never seen a game where rat-folk were used as a PLAYER CHARACTER race. But of course, I could be wrong about that.)

I think this would lead to some very interesting romance threads.

You said it: "all WE know about Aumaua...". I believe Obsidian guyz know more so why not let them do them how they' ve imagined them, huh?

I hardly know anything about Scaven (I don't play Warhammer at all either), but the moment I saw them I loved them. Their art-style, and the fact that they are rats. Whenever a Warhammer game is coming I am looking forward to the Scaven, alas no.... where is the rat race?? :D *P:E? Maybe?*

I think adding Skaven to the game could be pretty great. They aren't my number 1 priority for races that need to be added to PE, but I totally support their inclusion.

This one is called Plague Monk:

Likewise, for some more in-society type of inspiration from "The Great Mouse Detective":

Unlike D&D, Warhammer world have races that have NO good or redeeming quialities. Skaven have appearance to represent just that - evil race. If you compare MTG or D&D rat-people with skaven - they are completely different. Skaven have no good outcasts, like good drow or noble orcs.

I'm sure an aristocratic variation of the rats could be implemented. And I'm sure you could make a Skaven inspired race good as well.

That plague monk is amazing. I can almost hear the bells ringing.

It actually makes me wonder if in PE classes will be varied between races.

One thing that always bothers me a bit is that in most games the race really doesn't matter. You could be a hobbit fighter or a half-orc fighter and the only major difference is the half-orc would hit a bit harder and be a bit tougher and look a lot different, but otherwise they would essentially be the same thing. Same skills, same saves, same progression, etc.

To me aumaua sound more like amphibian species. Live by the water clue. Hope they dont add so large rats unless they are not some wizards transmuatation gone wrong project and if intelligent, than on par with troglodyte.

The NWOD has a autocractic rat race from India in Changing Breeds, well wererats, but still. They relate them to an Indian Goddess who favours rats. I've seen her temple on TV in RL, rats everywhere. Really cool.

Still my bet is on a sharklike race.

A rat-king could take a sharkman any day of the week.

An "aristocratic" sharklike race would be cool, with monocle and all.

We've seen shark people in BG2 already when they boarded your ship. They were savage, but still sociable, I would like to see some seafaring race of shark people that is not barbaric savages and have own developed culture.

Sadly, when I tried to search for sharkmen pictures to see how they may look like, most results were...porn. Makes me lose faith in humanity.

Furries ruin everything.

Anyhow, I hope ratlings are at least an enemy in the game. We don't see them used often enough. Imagine them, skaven-like, with their volly of homemade rifles. If there is plague in the lands, there are likely to be rats nearby.

Rat-men have been done before, I am a huge warhammer fan and the skaven are cool and all, but I don't really want to see another rat-man race and I would rather the anthropomorphic animal races be kept to a minimum because well... like Leif said, furries ruin everything.
