One person claimed that a choice in the game can actually effect what towns you visit.

I'm 6 hours into the game and I've found the first must have mod. Weightless items.

Now how the hell do you meditate again? >_<

Yeah had to figure that one out in the middle of the prologue, I really don't like the new potion system. I have a love/hate relationship with the combat and the poker dice still makes no ****ing sense to me. It's like the Witcher all over again, with actual sex scenes :p:)

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Poker dice - you can win most games by just aiming for doubles and triples (of the same number). Do an initial role, then keep all the double/triples and reroll the singles to try and get more. Exception is if you think you can get a five in a row or something (esp. if the opponent has such a great roll anyway). One nice touch is if you roll too hard, the die that fall off the board are considered lost.

For the love of God, can you link me to it? The weight limit is driving me crazy.

Feeling like I've now done the bulk of Chapter 2, having collected the necessary components to resolve the

Mist & Curse

situation. Game still manages to hold up, though even on Hard and with my lag I feel like it's gotten a little bit easier. Looking forward to when I can play on a good rig and try the highest difficulty.

It would be nice if a couple of things were explained better in-game, e.g. the whole Loc Muinne council thing, why it's being held, and what. I remember finishing TW1 and then still not understanding what the heck was going on with the whole Alvin business. They try, and the exposition they give you is great, but maybe they just feared overloading the player.

I think the C&C branching in Chapter 2 is that if you pick

Roche, you do stuff in Henselt's camp - Scoiatael, you do stuff in Vergen

. So you do in effect miss 'entire towns'.

oh, and apparently it has the ever lovely Ironman mode (dubbed Insane here). it's the same as Hard but if you die, all your saves go to hell.

so, yeah. waiting for somebody (Tig? :ermm: ) to start a Let's Play

I know that my ironman playthrough would end after 5 minutes. :>

Switched to "easy" now as well. The last two boss fights both required me to reload a ****load of times and I just couldn't stand it anymore. It's pretty annoying that I can beat every mob in the gameworld but as soon as there comes a boss-like battle, I can't see land anymore and get pwned without any mercy.

Anyone has any word on why is the exe. error where the game doesn't start happens. Quick fix by downloading another exe. file but very strange error; if it can be called that.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Did you make sure to shut down processes of any failed launches prior?

Either you have a corrupted exe, or it's not starting because something thinks it already started and you have to make sure to turn it off.

No driver for my Radeon yet, looks like no Witcher for me this weekend :ermm:

Tried the Dirt 2 profile?

Poor performance on a high-end GPU

Please install the latest drivers for your graphic card, and for nVidia cards, uninstall 3D Vision.

If you are experiencing low efficiency, please make sure you have disabled UberSampling in the game's graphic configuration in the Launcher. If you have an nVidia graphics card, please update your driver to the 275.27 beta as of May 17th.

As for ATI users:

1)Install latest drivers ATI Hotfix.

2)DIsable anisothropic filter, antialiasing and adaptive antialiasing and Catalyst A.I.; this can be done in the CCC panel.

3)Try running the game in windowed mode.

4)For dual cards linked into crossfire, turn off one of the cards or use the Dirt 2 profile.

AMD/ATI plans to release hotfix drivers dedicated to The Witcher 2. They will resolve problems with game's efficiency for crossfire users. This information will appear on: http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/Catalyst-Hotfixes.aspx

Actually got some time to play the game today. Did the armwrestling and fightclub events. The last armwrestler was a *****, but got him down on my third try. I'm making my way to the mental house now that I have a silver sword.

Played around with the settings and it now runs smooth in Flotsam. Not 60FPS smooth, but good enough for me. I'm stopping every few steps in the forest and just admiring the view. the best looking game I have played.

Everytime I bring up the launcher, I get a "connection error". I can't register my game nor redeem my preorder DLC "special item" code.

Just had a freeze. So taking a break. Made it to Flotsam. Found the notice board this time.

Please, give us some credit :) it was the first thing I checked, second I checked my antivirus making sure that it was not blocking it. I guess it was a corrupted exe. file but it was working fine yesterday. Started it this morning and it didn't began, nothing on the process tab. Anyways it's all fixed now, I was just curious about the cause.

The .exe from gog.com seems to perform much better than other .exes out there, for those who have problems, Orogun. (Though not that I think about it, if you only bought retail version, I'm not sure how you'd get hold of that.)

The 1.1 patch is coming soon though.

I'm hunting down the spectre in the asylum or whatever that is, and I get beaten by two wraths. With easy difficulty.

Either I'm too lazy to put up a real fight or I just plainly suck.

That felt like a crazy difficulty spike to me too.

Orogun: According to my antivirus program, my TW2.exe was a trojan the first time I attempted to launch the game. Had to uninstall the av program just to be able to launch the game. (lol?)

I(m at the beginning of chapter 2. You get much more xp from quests than fight, which is good. Other positive points, there are no waves of monsters with some rare exceptions.

Negative point is of course the qte. At least, now that I've lowered the graphic options, it becomes easier. But it remains awful.

Can't you just turn off the QTE ?

I've managed it after turning the game back to "easy" - in normal, they pwnd me like the last boss monster I've killed. You shouldn't go to that house if you are right in the beginning of Chapter 2, I'll guess. Better get some better gear first. There are various new armor and weapon sets to be obtained, which can help quite a lot.

I think tomorrow I will have finished Chapter 2. So far the game is still fun to play and damn, it even punished me in some quests because I've been unwary and full of generic rpg cliches. Often things seem to become not what one wanted it to be, that's why I am now much more careful in my choices.
