HoonDing Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I didn't make it very far my first playthrough due to bugs and whatnot, so it's effectively my first time. It's just been sitting on my shelf for years now. This is highly recommended if you have a high-end system. The game has almost as many mods & custom patches/fixes as FO3. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Pidesco Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 STALKER: SHadows of Chernobyl. It's just not installing fast enough If your PC can take it, this is essential: STALKER Complete 2009 "My hovercraft is full of eels!" - Hungarian tourist I am Dan Quayle of the Romans. I want to tattoo a map of the Netherlands on my nether lands. Heja Sverige!! Everyone should cuffawkle more. The wrench is your friend.
Gorgon Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I get random CTDs with every version of STALkER I have ever tried. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Slowtrain Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I get random CTDs with every version of STALkER I have ever tried. Last time I played it still had a problem with textures and the then in use Nvidia drivers that caused the game to crash without warning. Turning down the textures to medium solved the problem for me. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

Morgoth Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Rocktober can't come fast enough, baby! Rain makes everything better.
entrerix Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I didn't make it very far my first playthrough due to bugs and whatnot, so it's effectively my first time. It's just been sitting on my shelf for years now. its a pretty awesome game, i had a good time with it and no bugs, but i think i was just really lucky on that end Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.
Purkake Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Rocktober can't come fast enough, baby! Technically it's already Rocktober...
Deadly_Nightshade Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Hitman 5 should be out sometime in 2010 if they're using the original release date. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
Nepenthe Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Hitman 5 should be out sometime in 2010 if they're using the original release date. So far it looks like the series peaked with the second installment. Blood Money at least tried (unlike Contracts), but for some reason I still think it kind of fell short. Could be nostalgia and/or having forgotten the 10.000 tries I had to take in the last two levels of Silent Assassin. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
Purkake Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Blood Money was awesome and easily the best installment in the series. They keep making the interface more usable and the missions more interesting. SA was good, but BM was way better and the ending was pretty cool unlike SA's ending of "shoot the bad guy in the head with a shotgun 10 times before he dies".
Deadly_Nightshade Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 So far it looks like the series peaked with the second installment. Blood Money is my personal favorite - although I do have to agree that the second was good as well. "Geez. Nepenthe Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 So far it looks like the series peaked with the second installment. Blood Money is my personal favorite - although I do have to agree that the second was good as well. Yeah, it was definitely nostalgia. I just remembered those Japan levels in Silent Assassin. I dunno, for some reason I found that there were some really 'meh' levels in Blood Money (like the, erm, drug dealers' hacienda early on, the rehab...) that for some reason seemed a lot more memorable than the good ones. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
alanschu Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I loved Blood Money! Personally I liked it because it wasn't an exercise in saving/loading like the other ones were. They toned the difficulty down just a smidge and let you do a lot of cool things.
Hell Kitty Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Blood Money is fab. It was the game I'd hoped the original would be.
Bos_hybrid Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I loved the boat level, I can't count the amount of times I played that level, New Orleans was great to. Real cheap on steam atm if you haven't played it.
Purkake Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 The heaven & hell party one was really cool as well.
Nepenthe Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Shrug, while conceptually cool, I didn't think any of those played too well. My favourite was the Opera level, the way to execute the mission played as well as it seemed on paper. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
Purkake Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) Maybe you just suck at the game? I think I got the highest rating on all levels on the medium difficult when I replayed it about a year ago. The limited saves thing was really annoying, though. I'd happily play it on professional, but having to redo stuff is pretty frustrating. Edited October 11, 2009 by Purkake
Bos_hybrid Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I'd happily play it on professional. You enjoy punishment don't you? There's a name for that...
Purkake Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 It lured me with promises of better AI and penalizing you for leaving behind your suit or guns, but 3 saves is way too much.
SadExchange Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 This season, I'm looking forward to the following: Brutal Legend Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Borderlands Dragon Age: Origins Modern Warfare 2 Hoping that they all turn well. From the previews and such, they seem to be looking pretty good.
Theseus Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 $5 bucks for Blood Money on Steam wow! Had to buy it since my disc was scratched a couple years ago. XD Now Im just waiting for Fallout 3 Game of The Year Edition on Steam woot woot! Although I cant really play any of these while classes are going on, Ill have to wait until vacations and summer time to play these. anyway im geeked!
Nepenthe Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Maybe you just suck at the game? Oh, probably. Fortunately, I don't have the time and inclination to DOMINATE computer games, certainly not all of them. Not sure what it has to do with boring gameplay, though! You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
